In conclusion: I am content with staying with my 9700k until Intel's 15th gen. I'm gonna have to buy the whole new shebang anyway with my next upgrade so might as well wait for a *proper* next gen processor instead of the 14th's refresh
How is it a refresh? New socket
@@IWillSmurfYou 14th gen is still lga1700 as it's "just" a refreshed version of the architecture
same
Thinking the same thing, but I might go with a I5 next time since I only really play games and do a bit of work on it
I like to shebang.
What this video lacks is summary of those test, so I done it for you:
Average increase in FPS for 1080p 22% (range 16,5%-32,8%)
Average increase in FPS for 2K 24% (range 19,3%-40%)
But I think all those games are more GPU intensive and there could be higher increase for games like Age of empires 4 or Warhammer
Some of that percentage is simply from running the 4090 on a pcie gen 3 slot and possibly from rebar not being on with the 9700k. I had to download a beta bios for my motherboard to be able to use rebar so I could use an arc a770.
If going from 200fps to 250fps is important and a 500$ upgrade is in your budget, sure
What a good comparison would be i5-3570, i7-7700, i7-9700, i7 whatever, i7-13700 paired with the true RTX 3070 successor, the RTX 4080. ANd the other way 670 to 3070 and 4080 with the 13700K.
wish you had 4k numbers but this made me decide to wait for 15th gen intel / whatever AMD has at that time. Have 3080Ti 12GB and games all run smooth still. Even at 4k
Just upgraded from a 9700k to a 14700k so glad I waited ❤
RTX 4090 and 9700K vs RTX 4080 and 13700K
With my 9700k and 4060ti i get 180fps in most games with FG. Being as i game at 1440p 100hz i wont need to change out my setup for a long time. FG is one of the biggest advances in gpu tech since the 1080ti imo
I overclock my i7 9700k to 4.9ghz all 8 cores and its really really FAST advantages to get ul get 77c or even 80c at high cpu eating games like battefield 2042 100% cpu usage running at 164fps( 164hz refresh-rate only) even my monitor is bottlenecking on average 110 lowest ,1080p high settings no dlss & with 100% resolution scale ...but for other games it runs fast and low temp 72c on average .... Its good not to upgrade for now just your old 7 yrz old case ..
I'll stick with a 9700k in my old z370 MB for a few more years with a new 4090 at 1440p, might even upgrade to ultra wide. For the type of gaming I do anything above a smooth 90-120fps is totally acceptable for me so leave that extra money in my pocket lol
As far as I understand, the higher the screen resolution, the better for the processor (offloads it)
@@makszagreus that's exactly as I understand it as well, I plan on moving up to a Alienware AW3423DWF ultra wide later this year, at that resolution just below 4k I'll stick with my 9700k sitting cool at 5ghz for at least a few more years
@@anthonybailey7913 yep, i have also 9700k and QHD. So... i like it.
@@TomBrown-Brownie in the time since this comment I've learned about 14th gen and yea I'm definitely upgrading to a 14700k with DDR5 (but I'm gonna keep it under 6400mhz due to widespread issues with XMP profiles in the 4x16 configuration) and a z790 MB
Ran a COD MW2 benchmark and I'm literally bottlenecked 87% at 1440p...smh
My RTX 4090 is basically a C8 Corvette stuck in the 15mph school zone 😅🤦🏾
@@tonybailey89does your mobo have a bios update that lets you enable rebar?
Hi, I wanted to ask you: but is there only 25fps more or is there more to know? I have rtx 4090 i7 9700k I should change motherboard and processor I'm waiting for the 9 14th generation.
I'm wondering what changes besides keeping the fps higher? can someone explain it to me????
i bought the ryzen7 7800x3d today and have the same 9700k at the moment.. i hope at least 15- 20% boost
@@WorkoutTipps1how did this end up for you. I’m looking at doing the same upgrade. I still have a 1080ti but I’m waiting for 5000 series GPU’s or AMD’s next offering. Thanks
@@WorkoutTipps1 What improvement was there?
in short they worse than they so called bad people
Im still using 9700k does upgrading to 13700k with new mobo needs other software installation? Like windows etc?
No.
No. Just plug the hard drive in and update windows
Intel Has a plenty of power up until the 6th gen! but yeah, any one on any 9th gen or higher is still able to get decent FPS!
Have a RTX 2070 s i7 9700k upgrading to 4070 ti and i7 3700k soon!
nobody asked
just grabbed a 12900k bundle for a steal so these numbers are close to the jump ill get from my 9700k
I have 3060ti and 9700k. Bought the 9700k for 350 dollars in 2019. Would be hard to spend 400-500 for the 14700k to only get about 10-20 extra frames.
I agree. I have the same setup. I play at 1440 and everything runs great. I do have my CPU running at 4.GHZ. I have had this setup since 2020 and it has seen 2 video card upgrades. The performance increase is just not worth the price at this time. This system has lasted me 4 years, incredible. My i5 before that lasted 3 years; two CPU upgrades in 7 years is fantastic. My typical upgrade path was CPU/Mobo/RAM one year and video card the next. Everything with today's hardware tech seems so out of whack. Heck, I might even buy a 4070Ti soon and plan on upgrading everything else next spring.
HELP! So I have a new 4080 and everything runs fine but NOT BF 2042. My CPU (9700K) is maxing out at 100% and the fps and game will become bad. I don't know what to do as a new MB+CPU upgrade for one game seems a bit extreme... My friend has AN 8700K and he does NOT have the same problems I do but he has a 3060. Is my GFX card causing the CPU to max out? (I capped fps to 90 to try and help)
Try to increase the GPU use maximazing resolution and effects
Bottleneck. To resolve the problem cap the FPS
@@simor9081 did that tried 90 and 60 but didn't help. And 60 felt bad.
@@Gisborne1990 change cpu and mobo
@@simor9081 lol if the 9700k is stronger than ps5 tho and ps5 runs game fine... And no other game has cpu issues even is capping gpu. Do I ape d 800 quid on new cpu and mb for 1 failed game?
I have the i7 9700k overclocked with 3070ti and i don't get anywhere near them FPS. From what i can see i have a cpu bottleneck, don't know how when he gets FPS that high.
Faster ram perhaps.
¿¿FG?? Y
Where is comparison in 4K? 🙁
it is meaningless. would be abou 1-2 % difference only.
Anyway 4090 is overkill with almost any processor
Try to run that 4090 overkill without a processor. 😃
@@auntiepha8343 ha-ha, you are very smart
@@letterman4290 😃
Even my dad couldn't make a 4090 a bottle neck
Not at 4k
No 4k comparison? In regards to 100+ fps in triple A games in 2k? KK
Team 9700k that upgraded to Team 13700k
@Jack C 👍
Happy with the upgrade? I run at 3440x1440p and my 9700 seems to be my bottleneck on a few games
@@alexc7789 Hey Alex, Yes, the 13700k is amazing.I am still a huge 9700k fan but it was time. The 13700k is really an i9 when compared to the 12900k. I wanted to upgrade sooner but the 13700k was the first price to performance true upgrade in my book so I got one.
@@auntiepha8343 I pulled the trigger haha
@@alexc7789 That's what I am talking about!! 👍Congrats on the 13700k Alex! You won't regret it or feel free to come back here and cuss me out. 😃
4K?
Yes
i7 9700k can run ddr4 at 4800mhz ?
why not
8c/8t vs 16c/24t is a little unfair comparison don't you think? The only thing these CPU share is 8 cores and the name i7. Objectively speaking, the 8c/8t is not doing bad at all. The percentage performance gained in the 16c/24t is less than 100% inface its less than %50; its really about 40%(mostly less than 40%). For a x2 core count and 3x thread count, seems the performance increase is diminishing. I'lI bet you if you disable 8cores and 16thread and compare apples to apples, the 8c/8t will spank the newer CPU. I really do not have a reason to upgrade to the new platform at all; considering fps is still above 100fps.
You miss the point entirely my dude. If you have a 9700k and don't need 2k you will be fine for another year with 100+ 1% lows in everything.
A 7800x3d trashes every current gen CPU in games and it has few cores and lower frequencies, it's only negative is weak workstation performance and the outrageous cost of am5 platform. Making the 137//
@@CP-zu5pi Did the video say that? Not even in the description. You are assuming that was the message this guy is making in his video. I understand what YOU are saying as you are assuming that. You also missed my point. That this comparison still does not make sense. You spend of upwards of 1000 and that's all your getting.
@@CP-zu5pi unfortunately, that's not the case. My 9700k is utilized at 99+ in Battlefield 2042 which makes it unplayable. It's similar for other CPU intensive games, especially if you have a strong GPU.
@@YouYubeEnjoyerNum1 the problem is battlefield, not your cpu.

will my 9700K bottleneck the 4070?
No. Got the same setup. GPU at 80-99% all cpu cores at 40-50% when gaming. in 3-5 years when all cpu cores run at 99% and GPU is chugging away at 60% you got a bottleneck. For now no problems. GPU is at full capacity, CPU handles everything it throws at it.
In which games? For me they dont really work well together, because the CPU is too weak. I have lower than average 1% lows and also GPU utilization is also down at the 10 to 20% range.@@crooster1
@@crooster1Is this 1440p?

This game is super bad in optimization, it's not ur problem.

now im with the 13700k and WOW :)
