It's so wonderful that the Spurs organization is posting this video, celebrating the culture and history of Patty. I wish other teams would be as supportive of the diversity of the players on the team. But, then the strength of the Spurs is the diversity of its players.
I do hope when Patty retires that the Spurs organization can find a position on the coaching team or a role that is non technical where he is an ambassador and also continuing the spurs culture and bringing energy and morale to the team. Patty i've found is a very humble person and a very loyal person so please Spurs you gotta keep this guy around.
Great bala I'm american black and lived in the Indigenous community in Cairns for a short time. I learned alot while being in the aboriginal and torres straits community. Good on ya
A true inspiration to all Australians, black white it doesn’t matter, his mother was from the stolen generation & he is a proud indigenous man! We need more people like Patty Mills!
He may not be one of the best players in the league, but he has always been a personal favorite Spur to me. His exuberance and energy, playing his heart out every time he's on the floor, and the fact that it's always obvious that he enjoys playing makes him one of the all-time great Spurs as far as I'm concerned. I hope he stays in S.A. for the rest of his career. And this video is a fascinating look at his background and culture.
I believe given a bigger role in the right system, he can be even more amazing as a player. He is such a beast when he’s being the focal point of the Australian team in international basketball
As an Aussie, patty is one of my favourite players in the league and I’m sick with what we did with the stolen generation and trying to get rid of aboriginal Aussie’s is a disgrace. I’m glad patty talked about this and thought others what aboriginal aussie’s had to love through. Patty will be a top 10 Aussie basketball forever. 🇦🇺 🙏🏿.
This is beautiful to here Patty’s story - especially at this time with what is happening in his home land - I hope he stays in SA for his entire career & continues to educate & spread to the world his culture 🙏🏾🇦🇺
One of My favorite nba players..its a sad fact that aboriginal peoples are not as acknowledged. But always seeing Patty educate others about his culture and his homeland is heartwarming 😭💛
As an Australian I am so ashamed of what we did to the stolen generation. And we are still getting it wrong, many indigenous Australian communities have among the lowest life expectancy's in the world. Australia is considered a 1st world country but we have a long way to go.... But I am super proud of Patty. He clearly has amazing parents. I am a life long spurs fan from Melbourne and I'm still buzzing we have him on the team. It's also great to see Spurs jerseys being worn by Aussies, all of them with the number 8 of course. He is part of the reason why NBA basketball is more popular in Aus (per capita) than anywhere else in the world.
The stolen generation wasn't all bad, some kids were removed from abusive parents and in many cases that was the main reason for it although this is rarely brought up, however obviously removing kids from families is hard and it was often complicated. Patty is a legend and he does many great things for his community, I would really like to see more stories about the results of his efforts.
@@iggyblitz8739 how can you say that it "wasn't all bad"? The policy was to take half-caste children away from their parents and culture and assimilate them into white culture because they were perceived as a threat. It had nothing to do with children being abused. In fact many of the children taken were subject to horrific abuse in the institutions and foster families where they were placed. Please do some reading. It's a shameful chapter.
Tremendous team player, leader, mentor and person. When I think of the beautiful diversity and global nature of the NBA, the Spurs have long led the way. And Patty is the first player who springs to mind. Thanks for the video, @Spurs.
Patty, you're my favorite kind of human. Really, thank you. Your family is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your story and the story of your people. Thank you for contributing to our community of San Antonio. Thank you, San Antonio Spurs for exemplifying the spirit of San Antonio in so many ways.
What a top top bloke. I've never heard of him 😲 I don't know how 🤷♂️. I now want to learn more about him. Good on you Patrick. The world needs more people like you.
That would be cool if all Australians and Neo Zelanders in the nba came together and talk about indigenous and maori culture. That would be a great way of bringing awareness about discriminations and crimes that had happen's since the colonisation.
Wisway patty mills? power mangi. em sabi all island time and everything else. Patty sabi ol time blo island kunzi. rip it up and blast all thempla. leggo all island dance. Shake all ground blo ti!
Patty Mills is an inspiration to all Australians. Not only indigenous kids, but to all ages and races 👏👏👏

I don’t think us spurs fans truly understand how awesome of a dude we have on our team, I love Patty
he is the heart and soul of our team after the big 3 otf Timmy Manu and tony. he knows our play book by heart
Vinnie Chan couldn’t agree more!!!!!
Hagads Bala too Deadly!

The Spurs have always had a certain character that was different from "the rest". This is just one example of that.
