That was a sad moment to remember. Everyone who joined MGO on MGS4 will never be forgotten along for myself as I was "Lt.SilverWolf". I was on the top ranks as "Rank 12" of other players in the worldwide leaderboards. But goddammit, REST IN PEACE: MGO!!!

I remember playing this while watching so many animes... man... I tried so hard to make my character look like Naked Snake, but it was really tough to earn that in-game currency.

Many of you asked if I will play MGO 3. The answer is:no. The game is a complete downgrade compared to MGO2, it's like an avarage run-and-shoot TPS. It would be really nice to meet old friends again in MGO, but it won't happen. For those who will still play it, have fun and I wish all the best for you.

I sadly came into Metal Gear very late, I played the Legacy Collection, which obviously brought MGS4 without MGO2. Nevertheless, the Collection made me an incredibly big fan of the series for its storytelling, cry-worthy moments, and gameplay, and I now consider the series to be my favourite. Nonetheless, theres an empty hole where I feel MGO2 couldve filled it. It looked so much fun and I was saddened to see it wasnt there. I got GZ and TPP and was rather disappointed by the story, but love the games still, and looked forward to MGO3. I am happy to say I am enjoying MGO3 a lot, its very fun... However, I feel like much of the charm and awesome stuff that was in MGO2 is missing, comparing both, MGO3 looks to me like an average TPS online mode compared to the hardcore nature of MGO2. I still wanna play MGO2, and I hope I can find a modded PS3 sometime so I can access the revival of MGO2. I have this feeling that I might like MGO2 more than MGO3, but I still have hope for it, cuz who knows is Konami will add new awesome stuff, tweaks, and some nerfs, so it that could rival the awesomeness of MGO2? Its already impossible cuz of the slower and more tactical gameplay of MGO2, but I still look forward to it. The best thing would be for Konami to officially revive MGO2... But we all know that won't happen. Sorry, but screa Konami. Wow, I went on a long rant here hehehe I'll stop now, Snake out :P

u gotta give it some time, MGO2 wasnt that good in the beginning either, it got massively upgraded, and MGO 3 is only 5 days since release, i have a couple videos on my channel if u want to see its possible to have fun on mgo3
why did I have to start playing Metal gear so far in my life! I can't believe how much more fun i would have had instead of playing COD during highschool lol... I just started playing MGS3 to get into phantom pain and it's just amazing.

Oh my god, I'm so sad that I missed those final moments. I even know some of the people in the video too; maybe not personally, but definitely have met them in more than one passing. It's nice to see familiar names at least. There are so many great memories I have with 2. I loved training new players, finding tactical hiding spots, and throwing players to the floor so I can slap them with constant R3 grenade waving. So many fond memories. I hope we can make more before Konami completely quits the AAA gaming industry entirely and pulls the plug on MGO for good.
I was playing mgo 3 and there was a guy slapped me with a freaking grenade
Cyrax Skillz MGO 3 I haven't been able to get on very much at all because of work. So I doubt it was me. Besides, You can't do the grenade slapping-flail-thing like in MGO 2 (ready a grenade then rapidly click R3 to swap camera from shoulder to shoulder to your character wave his or her arms around like nuts). Plus, I mostly did that with a character dressed like Luigi for extra shits n' giggles.

There is a petition going around on the internet to bring back MGO2. It has quite a lot signatures already, maybe Konami won't give a flying wonkey about it but still, it takes like half a minute to fill in your name and add an email adress. I put the site under the video, in the description.

Fun, Humor, laughs, strategy, epicness, emotional, amazing friends, Call Of Duty will never come close and nearly as good as MGO. THE BEST ONLINE GAME EVER CREATED!!!

Had a PS3 just for this game. I didn’t get to enjoy MGO 2 for long but it was the most amazing experience I’ve ever had from online gaming. It was my first online game. The customization, characters, the challenge of face to face and stealth with other players, and the crazy things you could just get into.
Lmfao this game was always hilarious.I miss MGO the thing I loved most about it was the community was small everyone knew each other. But we will all be back for MGO3
This game will forever be ingraved in my heart. It took true skills to be an elite soldier in the online community. Rest in peace to the best mgo game to have excisted.
It was my 19th birthday. I had heard MGO servers where about to be shutdown soon maybe a few days before? I hadn't played in a year, but my memories of the game trump most multiplayers at the time. The roleplay community, the prison game, the many hours just goofing off, playing matches and chatting with one of the most amazing communities and fan base I'd ever experience. And although at the time the call of duty MW2 Community was alright and had some cool people, it was still nothing like MGO.
I Logged in after my overnight job, hoping for one last game. Maybe TDM; mess with the opposing team with my instructor skill a little. I for some reason loved that the other team could hear me. Maybe play the prison game.
It was down ... in that moment I had a wave of dread... I missed my chance for one more game, I had forgotten about Japanese time zones. I had heard thorough the grape vine that it would be going down but not a t a specific time. By the time i had gotten home at 7am it was probably already the next day in Japan.
MGO was well gone.
Then MGO3 came out. Played a few hours of it and promptly never played it again. It didn't even feel like the same game series. No custom matches with extended periods of downtime just chilling with folks, goofing off, playing made up games... etc
It was a shell of its former glory. Reduced down to now overtired and overused call of duty style gameplay but with a 3rd person perspective.
I really hope there is some sort of MGO with DELTA or MGS4 remaster. (less likely in MGS4 remaster but hey anything is possible)
Revive this community. I deserves and so desperately needs to be reborn from the ashes. People actually came together. People across the world felt like comrades in arms, and more importantly friends. The world needs a little MGO.
It makes me even sadder recognizing most of you guys after all these years..

Man, this game was and STILL IS so ahead of our time. Customization, voices, maps, game modes etc. Almost a perfect game. I really have Sweet Memories from this. They really could bring back a remake/remaster with 60fps and a more protected game against glitchers. It would be dream in my gaming life.

I feel like such a nerd...but I literally got goosebumps when the message popped up in the video saying "Disconnected from the server. Exiting the game". I'm in a room that is about 85 degrees.
For some reason I've been feeling very nostalgic the last few days for a time of great fun, before we had to grow up, in the early-mid PS3 days, and this, well this just is the icing on the cake.

I commented somewhere on this vid years ago and I still miss this game, first real online gaming experience I ever had and caused an addiction that no game has been able to satisfy since (other than dark souls, that shit was amazing... and still online lol). its hard to believe its been this long but mgo3 is right around the corner and I personally cant wait. don't care what problems it has mgo2 wasn't perfect either. its about the interaction to me, I missed the community and I hope to see you all again soon \[T]/.
Man this game was so amazing, the amount of customization you could apply to your in-game persona and profile really made you feel like you had a presence in the game, instead of the standard fare anonymity that usually comes with online shooter games.
It almost felt like an MMO in some ways. I remember joining servers and people would just be acting friendly and goofing around, it wasn't premeditated, it just happened.
Wish I had stuck around for the expansions, looks like it only got better.

Lol I'm watching this 2 year's later and it still makes me cry. Mgo is one of the best shooter games that I have ever played. It's so easy to socialize and connect with people online and I still haven't seen anything like it yet. It brings such loyal mgs fans together in a competitive style. CODs fun but it's hard to really show your true skill level. Well mgo2 was seriously incredible so it's going to be interesting how the next one will play out. Great video!
All i could think about was mgo2 when metal gear solid 5 released. We didnt care about the graphics or lag. It was amazing, the clans ,the tournaments and memories and just hanging out. Please reply what would you give for mgo2 to return.

Such an AMAZING game! I couldn't get a PS3 until like 2011, so I couldn't enjoy it that much, but the memories I have of it are some of the best gaming memories I have. The people switching arms with the granade looking at the sky and at the floor. The SWAT stealth games at that middle east map, someone throwing a smoke granade at the middle of a group. The poses, the mags. This was such an amazing game to just mess around and have fun with people that you didnt even know. ... I don't think that petition will do anything, specially with Konami's situation... but it would be amazing if we could play it once again... just once...

I never really got into MGO, but there is something very touching about this video nonetheless. It's been almost two years and we still haven't seen anything from MGO3, but maybe when it does come I'll join in this time.

Hello, Armando. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (online) Versus Mode on the HD Collection is essentially PWO. It's practically MGO, however, with the exception of a few differences that will take from getting used to. But it should keep us busy until the next big MGO.
For those that don't know already, the MGO2 servers have been unofficially resurrected by a team called SaveMGO. You can still play online if you have a modded ps3 and the unofficial launcher, and there's many players.
Wow the fact that i never got to play this is terrible. I bought mgs4 3 years ago for 4 bucks and still better than the Mgs5. Dont get me wrong i plat MGO 3 everyday but after watching video after video of what tbis used to be, MGO3 is even worse to look at. You could play as raiden liquid snake and almost all the stars in the game?? wow man. Konami really destroyed something innocent and great and the fact the Kojima no longer can put his live into this game honestly kills it for me as a true fan. Smh hilarious video btw

I highly doubt that, every game has those kind of problems it's not worth trashing a franchise.
wtklpm there just wasn't enough players, I remember there being, at most ,500 active players on the NA servers
You could play as Solid Snake, but you had to buy some expansions for the others. Not at all bad though. The expansions were $10 if I remember, there were three of them, and each came with some maps and skins too. Given that the game was shut down on the 4th anniversary of the game's launch, I kinda feel like it was timed, not due to cheaters. I don't recall all that much cheating honestly.

I wish they kept it so people could play local or pay to keep it going. They should still let us be able to run around the maps or link up with a friend with another ps3. I can't get my mind off this great game. I suffered with the loss of the first MGO, and now the second.

i never played but there's nothing sadder than seeing a game die, but this makes me definitely want to be there for mgo3. So when the time comes ill be sure to keep my enemies and friends close at face stabbing range :)

I hope the next MGO Doesn't become discontinued a few years after its release. I've only just now gotten into MGS and since I had an Xbox 360, I couldn't get MGS 4. I saw some gameplay footage of MGO and it sealed it, next moment I get, I'm getting a MGS game. X3 Hopefully either 3, 4, or 5.

After maybe 2 or 3 years of playing, I couldn't have a normal game where the host was on the losing side because he'd constantly quit or people will vote to kick the host to reset the kill count or something.
Lag itself at this point made things unplayable, getting shot through buildings and walls, but other than that I still enjoyed it, even if I started to die more often :P the people I played with were usually fun. Lagswitching then occured and by that time I kinda moved on anyway since I was starting to lose interest.
Still would be nice to log back into though, I kinda hope MGO3 include Groznyj Grad as a possible map. Or anything from the first MGO.

The Cqc aspect of MGO was the best part of the whole game. On top of the weapons and the customization. Hopefully they improve this even more in mgo3
