Tomato soup is the only soup I "like" for this reason 😂 I refuse to eat it by itself, however, if I finished the grilled cheese I finished the soup. Phil not liking soup either is so validating as well lol. There's just something about the cream/broth part I can't get by.

As a fellow lactose intolerant, lactose has never stopped me from enjoying cream soups, cheese, yogurt or straight up milk. Yes, I will suffer later, but I’m not a coward and my love for dairy must never be underestimated. Phil’s mouth is just broken.
As an asian, I usually refer soup as one of those spicy, clear broths type. Think pho, or tom yam or korean jiggae. I think Phil would enjoy them more than all of those cream-based products.
Same as a mexican. If he tried tortilla soup, pozole, menudo or mexican chicken broth, he'd actually like it. Canned soups are not that good.

I love soup most of my memories were coming home from secondary school in the winter and heating up homemade soup my dad made one of them being bacon and lentil and it was delicious.
I also like cheese as well being lacto cheese cause of me being lactose intolerant 🙂

I think soup from most places isn’t blended. Cream soups are really only possible when blenders are involved in the production, and blenders are pretty new. Like he himself mentions minestrone which definetely isn’t blended. The base of all comfort food, chicken noodle soup, which i think exists in most places, isn’t blended.

i'm middle eastern (jordanian) and a popular dish of ours is mansaf, made with jameed, which is basically cheese soup. also the cheese used is goat's cheese (not cow) and you can tell lol. it's like we specifically engineered a nightmare food for phil. i hope he tries it one day :D . (it's heckin delicious)
If I had to try and open someone’s mind to soup, I would start with ramen or pho: technically soups, but with a lot of solid food in them to distract from the soupiness. And they’re delicious!

The 'classics' in the UK are very different to classics in the US. Heinz cream of tomato and cream of chicken are definitely the most popular soups by far. Potato and leek is a thing but much less common, just potato on it's own isn't even a thing, and chicken noodle soup is a pretty new American import. The soups Dan got, as gross as they may be to some, are the soups of my childhood and I defend him 100% on this (this is coming from someone who loves making homemade soup but I know I'm the minority in the UK, tinned soup is the norm)

Yeah - I found potato based soups much easier to handle eating (like a thin vegetable stew) compared to cream based soups or broth with bits of barley etc in them
It’s like Phil said - the stew needs to serve a purpose in bringing carbs to me and once the carbs have been delivered the soup’s purpose is gone and I want to stop eating it
I even eat stew on bread half the time
probably the weirdest soup thing I do is use cream of mushroom soup as a base for when I am making pasta sauce. side note: one of the best food combos is tomato soup with grilled cheese, but that would probably haunt Phil's nightmares

Phil please try any variety of Asian soups! The entire continent will make you love soup, esp if you order from a restaurant; wonton, ramen, bun bo hue, dahl, tom yum, maligathani, etc. There are so many textures and flavours, and it’s usually not blended, you shouldn’t give up!

My little brother and I used to eat soup after school all the time in the winter. Id heat up some heinz cream of tomato, stick it in a groovy chick bowl, butter us some bread and then we'd literally sit down to watch yalls videos together. This was in like 2010 or something. Soup is like the definition of wholesome family food

In my mind cream of chicken and cream of mushroom are not meant to be eaten as soups, they're meant to be base ingredients in other dishes (one of which could be a soup). I thought the same when Dan brought out the "chicken broth" but at least it had veggies in it instead of being just broth.
