Just a few points:
1 - when removing the screen, be careful when inserting a tool in the left no side of the scren, the home button flex cable is right there. Go in too deep and you could easily break it.
2 - The battery service message goes away with a GOOD battery, the one you installed was only with 85% efficiency.
3 - You were being a little too rough on the home button flex, it could easily break the solder on that tiny IC. Soak the Home button flex with IPA before removing it, it goes way smoother.
With that said, this color looks amazing in this phone. Good job.

On your second point: wouldn’t it be bc he copied the data from the original battery to the new battery, including the efficiency? I can’t imagine iFixit selling replacement batteries with only 85% efficiency.
Yes the battery message does go away with a good battery, my 8plus and Xs Max is on iOS 13.6 with an aftermarket battery on 100% battery health
noenic don’t use acetone use isopropyl alcohol... I use the thinnest flat head screw driver but I have and I can remove the button in 30 seconds

It is very satisfying and impressive to watch how you repair these phones. You are a true technician indeed. I especially like what you said towards the end of the video referring to the battery replacement: “If you ask me, I’m the one who purchased this phone. So why can’t I fix it?” It is the question of the century and Apple has yet to provide a convincing response. I am sure someone will hold them accountable one day.
I just restored my old iPhone 7 and customized it with a silver housing and a black screen- its funny you did a restoration on the same day 😂

I also want to add - including this, im guessing that it was also to push the making of bluetooth better. Apple prollysaw the future in bluetooth. Theyre the only company aswell who can do such a chad move, but still be a dumbfuck.

Apple Authorized Repair Technician here. You can get around the TouchID issue by going into Apple or an authorized repair store and asking for a display replacement. The only way to legitimately bipass the TouchID error is for us to run RepairCal. It's a piece of Apple software which is cloud based, but installed onto a mac. We put them into recovery mode, and it runs automatically and essentially recalibrates the display and other componants. We then run Post Repair Diagnostics in GSX to confirm every component checks out, and if it passes you're off to the races. This isn't secret, but access is restricted to authorized and trained repair techs. I used to do third party repair, and whilst it's easier in many ways...Apple does make it pretty damn convenient to perform repairs. From the proper molds to seat iPhones in during repair to avoid sliding and accidental damage, to excellent tools and diagrams. I really enjoy working on iPhones as an authorized repair tech compared to the stress I used to face doing it third party.
That being said, I do not like the idea of punishing users for using third party parts. There comes a time when Apple will no longer supply parts, so what then? SOL I guess.

From personal experience I've found the easiest way to remove the home button is with a hair straighteners. Put it on the glass above the cable for about 5-10 seconds and it'll just drop off with the heat with no chance of breaking the cable

I've worked with so many iphones, it's interesting to see someone who has worked with some but not the thousands I have do this kind of thing. Like you suggest to remove the charging port for a battery removal, but I say just go for it, but I've done so many that I can deal with breaking pull tabs, and that's actually good advice for most people

They haven’t disabled the battery health, you just bought a junk battery. The OEM battery reading is only for iPhone XS and up. Try another battery that’s not overpriced junk and I guarantee you, you will not have this issue.

The reason the battery is showing that isn’t because it’s aftermarket, it’s because ifixit does not put the correct IC’s on the bottom of the battery. You have used other aftermarket batteries on iPhone 7’s before and they worked fine.
That's strange. I swapped the battery of my 7 Plus a few months back. It was an ifixit battery aswell and I had zero problems with it. The iPhone reads the health correctly and doesn't display a service warning.
Dominik Heusmann it’s because ifixit uses multiple suppliers, and some do not have the correct IC’s for the iPhone to read. As much as I love Hugh’s videos, I know he probably won’t respond to this because he seems like he tries to get a jab at Apple whenever he can. It’s too bad, as Samsung really is not much better at all but he seems to give them praise most of the time.

About the different screen types (C11/DTP/C3F) - I once swapped a wrong screen and the costumer came back after a while with the phone having problems to recognize touch every few minutes and the phone was kinda lagging while getting touch input. Putting on the correct screen resolved that.
There are 2 dots on the housing that matches up the charging port... when you install it correctly the connector should fit
I've ever had the same issue with the battery health measurement at the end of your video. Try to remove the battery connector, then press it again. Hope it helps.
I think if you put the black buttons and the silent switch to the blue frame would of been a nice look. Nice black and blue.

you can now transfer the serial number from the original home button to the jc 6th generation home button by using the jc v1s which you have but i'm not sure if you have a module for "home button serial number transfer", the home button will function as it should except the touch id.
I use a matte black iPhone 7 Plus that looks amazing but this blue looks really great on it.
There's a new version of the JC home button. It needs to be programmed by the JC Programmer but doesn't need the bridging on the logic board and has the real 3D Touch.

you have to restore the iphone to get the battery health working, i had the same issue with my iphone 7 but restoring it fixed it

The battery health can be tricked with third parties. Working at a repair shop and our batteries always have the health features fully working (XS and up have those weird settings though) but MobileDefender batteries seem to work great. We don’t flash them though like you did
@Hugh Jeffreys The thing in settings about the battery it’s not entirely acurate becouse I just replaced my wife’s iPhone 7 battery and it is working absolutely fine with 100% health. I want to mention that I did not rewrite the battery, i let it right as I get it from the online store. The phone is running latest ios13 and the battery was purchased from a romanian company (pretty sure some China import)..
