Buckle up because this is a long video and a wild ride! The video started out with a simple intention but got side railed and became much more complicated very early on. It's all worth it for the hack I learned and share towards the end of the video. This is also a video where I mispronounce lots of words and call things by the wrong name, please bear with me, it's just the stress affecting my tired brain.😉 I hope you find this video helpful and as always please remember we all can have different likes, ideas and experiences as artists so please be kind and allow for that in your comments.

Linda I'm really impressed that you find a way to create even when you are not feeling well and you are dealing with so much stress. I wish I had found your channel years ago when I had my own physical and mental health issues. At that time sometimes all I could do was stare at a wall, but I know that doing any kind of art would have been helpful. Now that I've healed, I am back to doing art journaling. Inks!!! Thanks for the info. I find myself not using inks much. But they are really an interesting medium. I really appreciate your honesty. Depression and everything in between is real. I recently asked for anxiety medicine. And it really seems to work for me. Before my blood pressure medicine never stayed down. It has been my anxiety all along. I look forward to the video on depression. All diseases that someone experiences can really cause depression. A lot of people do not seem to understand that. I really enjoyed the flip through of the ladies. The human form is something I struggle with daily. Thanks again Linda. ❤

I had to take an anxiety pill the day we put Niko down because I was distraught. I have to be very careful with any form of benzodiazepines because they’re so addicting, but I do take them on occasion. Unfortunately, it is true. That depression and anxiety tend to go hand-in-hand with chronic illness and that it’s hard for a lot of people to understand. Thanks for always watching and commenting, and being so supportive! 💕🙏😘
inks - thank you so much for all of this valuable information! I too follow Emma’s patreon and had purchased water brushes to fill with color. Now I know what to do with them and not what I had planned.
It’s so unpredictable because some of them work and some of them don’t so test out yours before using silicone to see if you got a batch that doesn’t leak. I will say that the silicone has been working really well for me over the past week. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙏💕
Try putting teflon tape around the threads. It works.
But wouldn’t you have to take the tape off every time you wanted to unscrew and refill them? I go through the ink in them very fast so with the silicone grease I can just unscrew them, refill them and I’m set to go. I’m not having to reapply the silicone which made me really happy. Have you tried Dominant Industry inks? If you havnt they come in tear drop shaped glass bottles in a little bag then in a box, pearl colours are glittery and gorgeous

Please don’t ever feel bad about leaving a long comment. I feel like we’re building community and friendships here we get to know each other through these comment threads. Even the ones that are quiet tend to read the comments and I think what we all write here helps them too. Interestingly when I talk about depression very few people will address it in the comments but I still think it’s important to talk about, it’s important to give voice to our feelings because at some point we all experience difficult feelings. Thanks Barbara, it was worth it in the end because I am really enjoying using the Pentel brush pens with the ink especially since I’ve been sick with a virus all week and stuck in my art nest. I’ve been exploring abstract work inspired by Robert Motherwell, and it’s kept me occupied while being laid up. The brush pens are turning out to be a great medium for my art nest. Thank you so much for this. I agree, Pentel water brushes are the best. I have tried every brand out there, just for water for my watercolors and only really like Pentel. I just got 3 Ecoline watercolor markers because they are refillable with the watercolor inks. And I will also be able to maker a brush marker to match with a Pentel waterbrush, I love the paintings and sketches you are doing with these inks. ❤

Sorry, I’m having a brain fart moment - do you have the Ecoline pens? I think the bottled inks can be used to refill the pens so you don’t need to buy empty brush pens if you don’t think the inks are ones you will use.
As a UK based person I’m very lucky that Diamine are UK based & I can buy them direct. I only use my Diamine in my Fountain Pens though, I will have to see how I feel using them in my sketchbook. I have LOADS of Diamine inks because I got the Inkvent Calendar. Thanks for the inspiration to use them in different ways!!

Thanks so much for letting me know that you enjoyed the video! I am totally addicted to these ink filled water brushes at the moment. The silicone grease seal is working beautifully to prevent leaking. I’ve been using them in my art nest all week while I’ve been sick and I just can’t say how much I’m enjoying using them. I’ve been posting some abstracts. I’m doing with them on Instagram and Facebook the last couple of days. They’re just so versatile.
I do have the Ecoline markers but I just never use them. I’m not a huge fan of markers for some reason, I think because I’ve always been a painter. I prefer using mediums that I can use with a brush. Thanks so much for watching and sharing! 💕

With my arthritic hands, I use a dab of Vaseline on the threads of my acrylic paint tubes to prevent them from dry jamming and ease opening. I wonder if you do the same on leaky water brushes you may be able to create leak-proof barrier? 🤷🏼♀️I think I’ll try that next time I have a leaky one.

Thesr brush pens leak water terrible too most of the time. My derwents don’t. Ink sounds messy😂
I know this is long after but I'm sorry for your loss. It never gets easier. 3 times my heart was crushed and still cry. I said never again.....well now I have my 3rd Westie😂 The last 3 years along with this covid

Wow what a share…I have a question, why wouldnt we just buy the Ecoline markers with the brush tips and refill them? I fill all their markers and dont use the water brushes? Im also a patreon of Emma’s and realized the problems with the water brushes. Living in another country outside of the US, I didnt want all that stress either with the water brushes.. thanks again so much…INKS
Oh my gosh I felt so bad when you said, “why wouldn’t we just buy the Ecoline markers”. Please understand that I am not trying to sell you anything
or make you buy anything. Definitely use what works for you! Please don’t ever buy anything just because I make a video on it.
I’m just sharing my experience on CZcams as a disabled artist to try to entertain and help other disabled artists feel inspired to create. I’m just exploring and learning as an artist, and I happen to film my explorations to share with others. I do realize the sicker I get the lower quality my videos are and I may have to stop at some point in the future but for now just think of my videos as me showing up for my creative practice and sharing whatever comes up with my viewers.
I’m not a huge fan of markers, I own both Ecoline and Tombow markers and just don’t use them, probably because I’m trained as a painter and I prefer fluid mediums that I can use with an actual brush. I find water brushes to be so much more versatile than markers. For me, the silicone fixed the leaky markers, but I wouldn’t buy the Sakura brand again. The Pental brushes have absolutely no problems leaking at all and I have been painting with them constantly in my art nest over the last week while I’ve been really sick with this virus. The painterly effects that I am getting with them I could never get with a marker.
So, when you say you don’t want the stress of using water brushes, please just continue to work with what ever mediums you do enjoy. 💕

I have the Pentel aqua brush waterbrush pens and I put Doctor Ph Martin’s India Ink different colors in them… It’s been three years and none of them have clogged! They work just like the day I put them in, but funny enough, I put Higgins Black ink in the water brush full strength and it’s fine, but every time I try to dilute it to make different concentration/shades of gray, the more water I put in with the ink, the more it clogs the brush!! I have done this several times, and I cannot figure out why the water down ink clogs the brush to the point where I have to throw the brush away, I can’t even get any alcohol or soap or anything through it to clean it out even though I squeeze the heck out of the pen! It’s crazy though, because my full strength India inks are going strong🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
We have very hard water with minerals in it. You can’t see the minerals but it tends to clog everything. I try to use distilled water in my water brushes, I don’t always remember to do that but my hard water can cause problems. I wonder if that is your case? That’s the only thing I can think of.
That sounds plausible, I wondered about that in the past and thought about putting distilled water in there instead… I think I’m gonna have to try that :-) I actually clicked on this video because I was checking to see if acrylic ink would be possible for water brush pens. Currently I’m using those refillable paint marker pens and those seem to work OK, but although they’re called refillable, they’re really only fillable once. :-(
@@creativesolutions902 that’s interesting, I’ve never tried putting acrylic ink in one of those refillable acrylic paint markers. Good luck with your experimenting!

I’m really impressed with the Pentel brushes too. I have found that the Sakura work well if you use that silicone on the lip, but otherwise they leak too badly. 🖌️🎨

I bought a bunch of these "Sakura" water brushes for the same purpose and all leaked, I didn't bother to return. I think they are just knock off's Sakura. I don't know. So I ended up recycling them all. Pentel waterbrushes are great. Derwent ones are fine too.
Sorry to hear that! I do love my Derwent water brushes too. Yeah, you have a good point. I’m really wondering about the stuff you get on Amazon sometimes, because I’ve gotten a couple of other products that were horrible, and I spoke to other CZcamsrs, who had received the product directly from the company, such as oil pastels, and theirs were fine. That’s concerning.
I’ve been using these Sakura brushes for over a week with the silicone and I’m happy to report that the silicone works really well. But I get that that might be too much of a nuisance for some people. Thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts!
