    I'm starting to like these "cheap" little saws. Factory shows PHO weight @ just over 7lbs. Reality is 9lbs 7oz. Full of fuel & oil with 16" stihl bar. Still feels very nimble though.

    Great video buddy. I have the exact same saw. I’m going to do that to mine soon. I have a bunch of old macs I piddle with. Sawdust is just in our blood.

      Right on bud! I love the way the old Macs run. Just something about them. I've done a couple 192Ts with just a muffler mod and bump in ignition timing. That alone wakes them right up! If you're comfortable and have the time, a little port work is totally worth it in my book. Especially on this saw, smoothing/blending the back "pocket" that these have in the exhaust port where it meets the cylinder wall and turns 90° on one side. I don't necessarily care for the "soft" (read chintzy) feel in the hand these little guys sometimes have compared to others. That being said, with little work, the power to weight can't hardly be beat and I don't even notice it anymore.

      Ben Hall I sure will give it a try. I’m from South Carolina. I love the old macs. Old technology with tons of guts.. I cut a lot mostly out of hobby and side tree work. I wanna start my own channel just haven’t got it going get. The saws I have are 2 Mac 610’s an old 10-10 and a Mac 655 stihl ms310 stihl ms 362 stihl ms 450 stihl 039 ms192tc then a husky 350

      Impressive. I like my old 011 but the sloppy feeling handle on it make me use a 200t. But we know how hard they are to find. And cost is nuts. Your saw would beat a 200t in any contest. Ill have to find one to mess with. 👍👍👍👍

    • @samishsawworks5870
      @samishsawworks5870  Před 2 lety +3

      I do it all with a straight shaft. I don't use a right angle on these. I use this, as the cylinders are so tiny.

      So at the 1:40 min. mark when at wide open throttle there was no "waver/4-stroke/ rough" sound. It was perfectly clean sounding. When it sounds like this OUT of the wood not cutting it means it was "just" on the lean side of things. I opened up the high jet about 1/8 turn more. If you go to the 2:40 min. mark you can hear the "burble/rough" sound at wide open throttle and then hear it "clean up" and become a nice crisp clean sound once it's in the wood. This means it's in a safe state of tune & rich enough to not damage anything or seize the piston/cylinder.

      Sorry to hear that. That's always frustrating. I find that small wood doweling or sometimes wood tongue depressors/popsicle sticks work well and are much less prone to puncturing rubber than screw drivers. At any rate, you'll love it once done! They're a totally different animal once they're warmed over.

      Oem carb or aftermarket? I haven't had good luck with aftermarket myself. That being said, I would put a new spark plug in it and check the muffler spark arrestor screen. They commonly plug up with carbon. If it looks black & plugged with carbon you can burn it out of the screen with a torch and then blow it out with compressed air.

      @@thebomberThebomber-yy2th Sounds like possibly low compression, I'd pull the muffler (just 2 bolts) and take a look at the piston through the exhaust port. if it looks good, the other thing is it could be the fuel tank vent. Next time you run it, after it dies and won't restart, open the fuel cap then reinstall and see if it'll restart. Sometimes the vent won't work and it'll create a vacuum in the tank and then the saw can't pull fuel. It could also be crank seals, but those other two are easier to check first.

      It had a bad spot in the center, the rest was fairly solid. You're absolutely correct though, not the most "sound" piece of wood. It's all I had on hand at the time. I did another video later where I put it up against a 201t in a solid chunk of maple.
