Democrats feel doomed. What’s the least risky move?

  • With falling poll numbers and President Biden's public appearances doing little to reassure voters he’s still got what it takes to win, Democrats are faced with a difficult decision about how to proceed. Biden has dug in, pledging to the public that he isn’t going anywhere. Our columnists talk through whether Biden can salvage his campaign, how possible it really is to change course now and who else could step up.

I am so tired of hearing "changing candidates would be so hard... blah blah blah." They need to put their big boy pants on and do it for goodness sake. If there is ANY chance, everyone is going to have to work together to get it done. Instead, they are fighting over IF it can be done. All that is doing is cementing the loss.

@@ItsReallyJackBlack It was a primary!!! The candidate has NOT been chosen. The delegates choose the actual candidate. There are numerous ways to allow the voters to express their choice. It isn't cast into stone. Open conventions are around for a reason, and this could be one of them. Do you think for a second, that if they allowed all of those voters to vote again, they would choose Biden now? Biden is scared to death of that vote. He knows he would not be the choice. So no. no one is being screwed over.

i feel like all these pundits are very attached to the idea that harris or whoever must have a campaign and there isnt enough time to add in all the stops at random diner in whatever tiny town or do some tiktok with random influencer, but does anyone outside of DC care about any of that? does it make any difference?
people right now just want something different and harris isnt very new but simply not being trump and not being old might be all that matters.

She wouldn't have been my first choice four years ago, or even a year ago....but she's pretty much the only option unless Michelle Obama comes from the sky on guilded wings of a pegasus. She's done well on abortion campaign issues and she was happy to go toe to toe over Florida's modifications to history curriculum.
She's had some good foreign visits and she does have a good ability to connect with individuals. And I could see her wresting back much of the lost black support for the 2024 campaign.
I was pissed off at her on the border issue. There is significant space in the foreign policy arena to address migration caused by the instability South of the border and she didn't take on the task the President gave her. There's probably more to that story.
