Watching archery videos like this is Zen for me. Awesome presentation, review, and the landscape in front of you is stunning. I am using Samick R3s in 55lbs on a Topoint Slither 17" riser and it is the best hunting and defense setup all around. Point of aim at 20 yards with the holographic reticle I have on the ATA mount with a rail adaptor.

The archery is almost meditative to me sometimes. Really get focused and relaxed in it. Glad you enjoyed the vid, thanks for watching!

Loved your video. I do have a suggestion though. Your release could be smoother if you follow through and let your wrist go straight back
to your shoulder , or even just a little way back. As it is you have a dead release ( nothing wrong with that ) but your wrist seems to move outward from the string. This can cause you to pluck the string and the result is that the bow and the arrow will move off centre , or even up or down .

Thanks for watching and sharing your comments. I agree my release could be smoother. As I go along I'm working to improve it. Shane

On my metal riser ILF's..... first thing after stringing... just grab the handle and the limb and give them a tug .... towards each other. Do that with both limbs ...if not seated all the way... your'll get that little pop. Another tip... about the ILF limb ... the little spring loaded seating ball... take that apart.. and use a little blue, lock tite on those threads. I had 1 come apart and had to order another.... before I could shoot again... the screw came out... spring went flying and lost the little ball.

Hey figured I’d ask you a question on here since you have the perfect experience to answer my question. I’m set on this bow with the long limbs and I have a 31” draw so I’m happy you made these videos with your long draw. I currently have a samick sage with a 21” riser. I have both 35# and 50# limbs. The 35 is great for practice and doesn’t get crazy heavy at full draw. The 50 stacks like crazy when I pull it all the way back. I’m looking for something in between these for the discovery. I’ll be deer hunting with it once I practice for months daily. My confusion comes with the shorter riser and longer limbs of the discovery and how that affects extra poundage. I can’t decide between 40 and 45# for an in between feeling at full draw. I’ve done a ton of research and I’m stumped. Your input would be much appreciated. Thanks man

To me, these Samick R3 Long ILF limbs on the 17" Discovery riser don't seem too stacky. I've never had a Samick Sage so I'm not sure how they would compare to your Sage. With your 31" draw, I'm thinking maybe go with the 40#, since you will be drawing back to close to 50# at 31" draw length. It's hard to suggest what will be the better choice for someone else though. Thanks for watching and sharing your comments! Shane

I also have the Samick Discovery with the Forest Green Riser. I also have the Samick Foam Core limbs in # 40 and # 45 draw weights and planning on obtaining another set in # 35. Did you have an elevated rest that you preferred, or you have just been using your built-up rest? You have a great setting for your range and thank you for posting.

I started out using the Bear Weather Rest. It worked great. After a couple years it kind of wore, and I went with the built up shelf setup. Both seem to work equally well. I'm a fan of the R3 foam limbs too. I've got them in 30, 35, 40, and 45#. Probably add the 50# eventually. Mine are the Long, for a 62" AMO length. The scenery here is pretty nice, yes it is. Good shooting!

@@timyjoe5 I just received today a set of the Samick foam core with a # 35 draw weight. I just target shoot so I cannot provide an evaluation for hunting. For long sessions of archery, I use the #35 and #40. #45 and #50 are usually shorter sessions. My local club removed the 3d targets, so the targets are paper animal silhouettes or just regular targets. On this course I will use the #45 or #50. the field course I usually use the #45 which I think I prefer overall. My at home range with straw bale backstops I prefer wood arrows. My club range I use carbon as the target backstops damage my wood arrows.

How do you shoot the 40# limbs with bare fingers for an extended period of time? I just picked up archery and got 30# limbs. Had to pause after each quiver for 2-3 minutes until the finger pain went away. By the way, your shooting location/home is absolutely gorgeous!! Right next to a lake, mountains in the background. Beautiful!!

    • @shanepitzer4126

I'm shooting with a 3-under leather tab. Bare fingers would be a bad idea and probably cause nerve damage in a short time. This is the tab I'm using,
