I’m relatively new to your channel, but I wanna give you a shoutout for featuring a mix of well known titles with ones that might have slipped through the cracks. It’s a nice way of ensuring people see the games they hope to see mentioned in “best of” lists while also introducing new games to add to the backlog. I already picked up a couple new (to me) games thanks to you!
Everyone should understand the greatness that is Ogre Battle. March of the Black Queen is my favorite console SRPG. I remember in the early 90s my grandmother sent me two birthday checks by mistake so she told mom and dad to put the second in a savings account for me to use someday. Many years later (Summer 99) I found a copy of Ogre Battle in a local Funcoland and cashed what was left out the savings account to buy. Unfortunately the store sold their copy before I got to it but another Funcoland about thirty minutes further away had one and I was able to talk my parents into running me over to get it. Now if only Square would remaster or remake the Ogre Battle games instead of rehashing Tactics Ogre again and again while ignoring the other series of the franchise.
I've spent 9h into the demo of Stellar Blade already. Preordered, cannot wait until release. The battle theme has been in my head these last few days. So good!
The backlog has been insane so far this year. I buy games just to look nice on the shelf at this point. Bought FF Rebirth a month ago, and it's still in the shrink wrap... one day.

My friend is the same way. I just don’t understand. Buying games just to collect them (what he seems to do) is such a waste of money.
@83DragonWolf Well, I do play them eventually. It just takes a while sometimes to get around to it. You're half right. I should really just wait until I finally have the time, and by then it'll likely be discounted
Unicorn Overlord is so good, and I can't believe the sale figures for the game, it's exciting and well deserved!
I just finished Persona 4 Golden last night, so I can scratch that one of the backlog list. Next is Super Mario RPG!
I played Alone in the Dark twice, once with Edward and a second playthrough with Emily. That wasn't my intention but when I finished playing with Edward, I wanted to keep playing so I started over with Emily.
Every time I sit in front of my computer with the innocent idea of playing something from my backlog, I find myself playing Street Fighter 6.

I'm on chapter 9 of Rebirth, with 39 hours of gameplay. Really loving the game..but the combat sometimes is confusing😅
I'm also playing Etrian Odyssey 4, i'm 5 hours in and i'm loving it. It's my first Etrian game..thank god i own all the 3DS games because i just became a fan.
Like you,.my initial minutes with Stellar Blade's combat was "huh?" But a little bit of practice and fine tuning, and this demo ultimately became such a pleasnt surprise for me.
I already knew the last 3 months would be taken up by Infinite Wealth, Rebirth and DD2, and it's been great. Platinumed Infinite Wealth, got 57/61 trophies for Rebirth and just need to finish a few things up, and currently 50+ hours into DD2 exploring that whole world. Once I'm fully done with those I may pick up Unicorn Overlord, unless it's too close to Shadow of the Erdtree which would take priority. This year is crazy. 😄
I need to finish getting all the achievements for infinite wealth. Love the game. Probably wait till I upgrade my graphics card to fully play at 4k.

The game is so good. My only complaint I feel the story was one of the weakest in the series. But when the gameplay is so good, it became my favorite in the series. I beat all the games n spin offs.
I fill your pain, I just got paid and increased my backlog quite a bit, from FF7 to P3 to Alan Wake 2
I am giving Eiyuden a try once i finish rebirth. Never played Eiyuden, but gives me octopath traveler vibes and also triangle strategy which i loved. I feel this year is going to be a good year for games and RPG!!
I've been trying to work through my backlog recently. Just played through and finished Aviary Attorney and Pepper Grinder, which just came out. I am also currently playing Octopath Traveler 2 and it has been amazing so far. Looking forward to diving deeper into it. I'm also looking to start either Metroid Prime Remastered or Unicorn Overlord pretty soon. I loved Unicorn Overlord's demo and am very eager to start the game soon. I won't need to buy any new games for a while, but I'll make an exception for Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door lol.
I just got to Unicorn Overlord after finishing Persona 5 Royal. I can't put this game down. It's so addicting and fun. Also, I have never played a lot with custom character makers. I usually prefer not to think about what my character looks like all that much.
Im plowing through one game at a time, finished baldurs gate 3 at the end of Feb after playing it since Christmas. Straight in to ff7 rebirth and playing vandal hearts again on the side, my backlog is obscene at this point and the urge to replay some games is too strong. I suppose I will get to them when I get to them. As lucky as we are to get this many games, I miss the days when I had one game to last me a year.
After finishing and loving the Resi 4 DLC and Cyberpunk 2077, I’ve been going back to games I didn’t finish before. My current mains are Sea of Stars (almost at the end), Devil May Cry 5 (much better now that I’m playing as Dante) and X-Com 2 (I feel like I might just complete it third time around).
I’ve been playing Unicorn Overlord (basically done. Just the “final” battle left.), Trails in the Sky FC(just finished) and SC, Valkyria Chronicles, Mario and Rabids: Kingdom Battle (may drop that one) and Xenoblade Chronicles DE. Oh, and BG3. Sorta. I got 40hrs in and am taking a break…possibly indefinitely.
Dragon's dogma 2 is so fun
I beat all the like a dragon n spin off games the past 6 months. I would say infinite wealth is my favorite game in the series. The gameplay, mini games is pretty much perfection for this series. Not my favorite story in the series, but its the most fun i had. I do hope we get a expansion pass to give the story the push it needed.
I can relate to this video. FF7 Rebirth will be on the backlog for some time. Opened up for a cool 14hrs an felt like I just need to play that game an only that game when I plan to finish it.
Only game I've been playing is Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and that piano minigame can rot in hell, everything else is good

@vladik87 I agree with you in its current form, they should've left it like it was in Intermission where you could get new boards/figurines to give you strategies that you could adjust not this preset BS

For me, I'm almost at the end of Link's Awakening DX, I also started Final Fantasy IX on PSone and have beem smitten with the game.
I'm also eager to jump back into Breath of Fire III! Before ny PS3 wigged out, I had caught up with my childhood save, so, with the story and gameplay fresh in my mind again, I picked up my old save and am ready to finish what kid me didn't (because their disc was scratched up)

Fun fact I’ve been using soulslite as a term for years haha!! Ever since games like Nioh that have souls elements like stamina and the leveling system but are wholly divergent in other areas like level design or gear or other aspects of combat (another example would be Remnant from the Ashes which has souls mechanics but is a third person shooter well oiled for co op)
I also described Stellar Blade as a Souls-Lite. I was pleasantly surprised by the demo and will likely purchase.
The music in stellar blade sounds like Okabes because well, he worked on it.

I am not going to lie, all of games in the list in this video, besides FF7R, they are my wishlist. Usually when I progress in a game, there is a secondary game that I am also progress, this is like a buffer whenever I got a problem in the main game, i.e.: boringness, stuck in progress, difficult boss, etc. But this FF7R keeps me busy so that no secondary game appear, it is 60 hrs on progress 😅
I wanted to play something simple after FF7 Rebirth, so i play Clive n Wrench, a funny little retro collectathon.
Working through Chapter 9 region stuff in Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth. I’m like 50 hours into this game and it feels like it could go on for another 100 hours. So good

Dragon's Dogma 2 I went with Xena for my pawn and I found an asian female face on youtube and modified her a bit and now she looks like actress Jamie Chung.
Stellar Blade I would recommend for people intrigued by Souls-likes, but are put off by the difficulty. I'm unsure how easy Story Mode makes it, but I can't imagine it will feel impossible to newcomers.
Aside from these two, I'm still playing Honkai Star Rail and Goddess of Victory Nikke.

I’ve been going back and forth with Unicorn overlord and Rebirth as my main 2 games and I’m at 12 and 20 hours on them. Both are exciting to play and then WWE 2k24 is my turn my brain off and play for 30 mins before head to wind down

Because i don't just spend 80 to 90 hours playing these without getting bored!!!.
All of those games are pretty recent to say the least. My backlog is at least 5 years old games after 5 years old games xD

I loved the Stellar Blade demo. Combat feels nice, it’s NieR:Automata af in some aspects but unique in others. I’m gonna get this game for sure. I also recently finished Drakengard 3 after starting the game in 2017 😂 it’s kinda great though? It feels like a black comedy action rpg, kinda taking the piss out of the genre while also taking itself seriously when needed. It’s the worst game I love 😂 P3R was great was well, very much enjoyed it
Everytime I find myself looking through my back logg I end up playing a super casual game like halo infinite multi player,wh40k darktide or helldivers II when is not crashing which 😅it crashes all the time unfortunately.
100% and platinum trophies may not say “true gamer” but it does say I’m a huuuuuge fan of this game and I’m willing to exhaust everything the game has to offer. When I see someone with a 100% or platinum trophy they are a hardcore gamer for that game they have the 100% on. This is especially true if the game has high difficulty trophies. So tired of games you can 100% on easy. That doesn’t mean you are a good gamer that just means you have too much free time lol I am joking mostly on that. It still deserves credit no matter but usually super hard trophies do come with more street cred

I played Granblue Relink and Persona 3 R completed them both in time for FFVIIR release, I've had Eiyuden Chronicles pre-ordered last year so my April gaming was all sorted all the way to May/June...
Buuuuuuut.
Then some nonsense about someones booty happened on twitter tried the demo for Stellar Blade now that's on the list, lost my appetite to 100% FFVIIR so I thought I'd try the Unicorn Overlord demo aaaand now I'm in the Unicorn Overlord rabbit hole, with Eiyuden Chronicles in 2 weeks and Stellar Blade the week after.
I just finished IW and the story was just a big step back for me. I still love the characters but it alsp sucks that Ichi didn't even really spend time with his old party. The reddit consensus is everything but the story/characters is better in IW and that's where I landed.
Also: to me the sign of a great game is I *want* to 100% it. I did for LAD. I had zero desire to for IW.
Totally agree. Story and characters were not as good as the first. And half the story about cancer... well, that didn't put me in the mood to enjoy hawaii.
@@Basylicc I realized the writing was awful when I was more vested in Kiryu's reminsces even though I haven't played his games.
@@gilded_lady I think the Kiryu story is more engaging because the stakes are higher (the cancer), you're with the characters from the first game (I really think the new characters are poorly written) and the action takes place in japan (which is why I play Yakuza game in the first place, because I want to see Japan).
I agree with the story. Still my favorite in the series n one of the few times I want to 100 percent. I just beat lost judgement,probably my second favorite story in the series. Number 1 is 0 of course.

I'm not sure if GTA is what I call "emergent", GTA 3 for the first island is sort of that but later in the game you pretty much have to play the game Rockstar's way. Then again, the thing with Rockstar open world is that they are emergent during the open world but scripted beyond belief during linear missions.
Grand Theft Auto 3 is widely considered as the first example of emergent gameplay in modern gaming. Even in GTA’s linear missions, emergent gameplay can happen and unpredictable events can still occur! Ever tried to chase a car and had to deal with a bus crossing your path? Or a vehicular pileup in the middle of an intersection? That still happens!

Most of those kinds of missions happens at the start of the game. Later on, it starts to get more scripted or at least that's what I remember when I played the game recently.
I had a sniper rifle and tried to bypass a boat chase but every time I try to shoot him before the boat chase even starts, the game will not count it.
I wish I liked dragons dogma 2 more, after about 30h, to me, the game feels like a chore to play 😕
I beat it couple of weeks ago. Was highly disappointed with the game. Open world rpgs came a long way n this game feels exactly like the orginal one not in a good. I would give it a 6 or 7. Kept playing thinking its going get better but nope not even close. N no true last boss wtf. I over prepare thinking big fight coming with the last red light. Nope credits n move around. Trying not to spoil anybody, but then again what story?
