@Grim Reefer The planet has been warmer in the past. The temperature cycles about every 25,000 years, too short of a time for a fungus species to evolve. So if your story is true those "natives species" would be wiped out every 25,000 years or so. Another question would be, what is the optimal CO2 level, what is the optimal earth temperature.

@@korym7812 - Climate is never static, meaning it is always changing. To disregard the reputable science that shows the climate has been warmer, or colder, in the past is what is ignorant.
The real question is how have, or can, humans affect the climate, and what to do about it.
Both the left and right focus on their politics, and talking points, and agendas, without anyone actually addressing, or identifying, the issue.

As we reported in 2004, the couple owned five homes at the time, with a combined value of roughly $29 million. She bought four of those before her marriage, and the couple jointly owned one. In 2017 the couple sold the home in Nantucket, which belonged to his wife’s family, and purchased one in Martha’s Vineyard.
The couple did make use of a luxury yacht, which brought Kerry scrutiny and criticism during the 2004 election cycle over reports that he docked it in Rhode Island to avoid paying higher taxes in Massachusetts. They sold it in 2017. Kerry has also made use of a private jet, but that, too, belongs to his wife.
The matter of the Kerrys’ cars also came up in 2004, when news outlets reported that he owned multiple vehicles. At the time, he was criticized for calling on people to buy American-made products while his wife drove a German-made car.
It is true that Kerry has made use of multiple homes, vehicles, a private jet and a yacht over the course of years, though much of the property belongs to his wife. It does appear, however, that the meme exaggerated the number of homes and yachts they have owned.

We don't know exactly how bad it'll get. But it doesn't have to be the end of humanity to be really, really bad. But how bad wouldit have to be for politicians to sit up and take notice and take action now? Wars over food and water? Mass migrations because of changing sea levels and habitable zones? Increased risk of nuclear war? All of these are possible.
Personally I'd rather invest in our planet than run a greater risk of a disaster happening in our not too far future by gambling on 'it'll all be okay'. Sure, it may not happen in my lifetime but that's no reason to sit back.

Just bringing up the fact that there is a huge divide -
and loss of our middle class since the 60's-80's,
is a no go if he really cared about money so much.
What you need to understand, is that isn't the main driving force for many people... especially once they know they have it.
I think this is way too rash, but just Imagine we went back to 50's tax rates if you will - we jumped taxes on the rich/ corporations (say over $5M), 2x nay 3x there current rate ~15-20% > 30-40% >(even) 45%-60%... what does that look like even if you tax the money they already have?. Say you had taxed at 60% (0.60), then $5M > $2M | $10M > $4M... that would be drastic for anyone even moderately in power who was Democrat right now - but those were the rates of our highest boom in the fabled "glory days of the economy" (- growth of our middle class).
      _____
I don't think we should touch the money people already have (it erodes trust for one thing). I think making sure corps (over $1M/ or people over $5M) paid at least some 30%, that would be fair (and a big increase for many).
*An aside, I don't like the heirloom taxes (which are heavy) yet at least today we should realize where that money may have came from ~> push money into low income areas to equalize the damage that's been caused (by us US)/ ...or I don't like the transfer taxes banks and Gov's leach from... or the water in Flint I'd imagine-_-. Sigh, we need leaders!/ teachers-, plumbers apparently:/.
      I appreciate Kerry!
      Income! Why not tax it(?).
if you had $5M coming in at 30% tax, that's still $3.5M...

@@JamesTicknor But your parallel is wrong. The Congressman was accusing John Kerry of practicing "psuedo science" by having a degree in Political Science while talking about the physical environment. Then he makes the bizarre point about HOW COULD a Political "Science" degree be a "Bachelor of Arts" to reinforce his implication that Kerry is a fraud because of this degree - which is just plain stupid. It's as if the Congressman has never opened a University catalog in his life, and he thinks he's being clever. He's not, he's SO not. He asks stupid questions because he likely IS stupid. As I looked it up, I see that part of Kentucky became the 13th confederate state because "confederate Kentucky" did pass articles of secession but not the entire state. So let me correct my prior point: "The next time that "confederate Kentucky" wants to secede from the union, let it go."
