Good morning. Just came across your video. Very cool! What year is the motor? I have a 1957 boat and bought a 1957 7 1/2 hp johnson i wanna rebuild to put on it some day also. I have a 1968 6 hp my neighbor and i went through and have only had it out one time. It sure was a nice experience though!Hope the other motor will work and run good as the 68! I have a bunch of parts for it and will someday get to it i hope! Went to Disney and there is a store with a collection of old boat motors and a nice collection of small scale ones as well! The small scale were more then what i bought my full size motor for but were still really cool to see! Thank you again and have a nice day

He owes you a Johnson 3 horse, it's that simple. Everytime u see him say, "hey come across any Johnson 3 horse? He may get it. Do it at Christmas too.

I have 5 of them. You pretty much have to check to make sure you have spark ( coils , points, wires). The carburetor , you might have to clean it. Last but not least , make sure you have good compression . For that particular motor. The lowest compression that would allow it to run smooth, would be an even 60 PSI on both cylinders .

if you are moving the lever from left to right put it a little past centre. Pull the choke out. Open the fuel valve (turn counter clock wise until it stops) Open the vent on the fuel tank (turn the small knurled knob on the fuel tank counter clockwise until it stops) Pull the starter cord briskly several times until the motor starts. As soon as it starts push the choke in. It should stay running.

Check your spark, if not, check your points, put your condensers and coils on a meter to see their condition. (coils can read good cold but cut out when they heat up) If they are cracked get new ones, Look at the cooling plate on the side of the powerhead to see if there are any indications of it getting hot. If all this is done check the carb, when it gets started make sure it's pumping water

Generally the start position is about 3/4 of the way to full throttle.
