what i love about this series is that it paints neither Daniel nor Johnny as a bad guy, unlike the first movie. Here, they both have difficult situations to deal with, they're both troubled (maybe Johnny wins in this aspect) and they both want to succeed in their own way
In the movie Daniel is the bully. Go back and watch it. He starts all the fights. Take the scene at the school dance. Johnny was not even near Daniel. Daniel didn't have to soak him. There are many more where you see Daniel as the real bully.

If Ryan Johnson and JJ Abrhams had directed Cobra Kai Johnny would get killed by Miguel at the beginning of the show and Daniel would be sitting on a temple somewhere in Japan While Samantha would be running Miagi Do.then kreese would "Somehow returned" and would re-open Cobra Kai Samantha would often get into epic fights with jonhny's apprentice and fully trained karateka Miguel(while Samantha received maybe a 2 hour lesson from Daniel at some point when she was 5) . which would result in Samantha winning more often than not. Daniel would be found by Samantha and convince him to fight Kreese by kicking Daniel in the balls Daniel would out of the sudden stop hating Karate and head back to the States. .Daniel would then get into a Twitter epic fight with Kreese where Daniel San would get a heart attack from all the anger that he experienced during the argument. Samantha and Miguel get the idea to go visit Kreese for killing Daniel and somehow become a couple on the way and BFFs Miguel would get his ass kicked by Kreese with ease. Samantha would then kick the old man in the balls and kill him while Kreese landing one or two kicks. Hawk and Tory would had been irrelevant by season 2 to the point where they would just have a cameo appereanse at the end to congratulate Samantha for being the most powerful Karateka master ever, even stronger than Mr Miagi himself. Samantha would then be known as Samantha Miagi and run Cobra Kai.
I noticed this kick is VERY similar to the spin kick Johnny crushes him with in the fight right before Miyagi appears to destroy Johnny and his gang after the Halloween party.

True...but I'm sure writers could have sneak in a fight scene for Daniel. For example Daniel found the two thugs breaking into his dealership, after beating up Robbie. He quickly dispatch the two thugs with ease showing how much his karate have developed over the years and hinting that his skills are probably way above Johnnys at this point, and there is really no need for him and Johnny to actually fight. I think the writers will continue to keep us in the dark with Daniel's skill level just to make the rivalry interesting, but at some point next season Johnny will realize he is still isn't good as Daniel.
Tom Ly I doubt it. Daniel hasn't done karate in 10 years. And we know he was only two time all valley champion, meaning that he probably didn't compete after Karate Kid 3. We know Johnny fights frequently. I highly doubt Daniel could have beaten Johnny. I really believe Karate Kid 1 was a fluke. He shouldn't have won.

Most people criticize Macchio's action scenes. To be fair his movements are awkward and lack fluidity. But I also give him a pass because he is 60 and was in his late 50s when he took on the role again. Unlike Kove, Zabka, Okumoto and Griffith who are still martial artists. Macchio is not.

Most people criticize Macchio's action scenes. To be fair his movements are awkward and lack fluidity. But I also give him a pass because he is 60 and was in his late 50s when he took on the role again. Unlike Kove, Zabka, Okumoto and Griffith who are still martial artists. Macchio is not.

Everyone thinks his leg looks weird but if you're up close to your target, that's how it's going to look. He's not trying to kick him in the head. He's aiming for the cup to embarrass the guy. Lots of people in this comment section don't know what a back spinning outward crescent kick is.... I can understand if you guys were expecting a back spinning hook kick, but an outward crescent kick isn't an improper technique just so you all know.

Considering he's in his fifties, that's a decent spinning side heel kick. Lot of coordination involved considering he set it up with two spins.
