Feels a little weird that the lower graphic setting at the longer load times, you would almost think it should be opposite. I'm still planning on trying to play the game with the minimap turned off for the entire playthrough. I think it'll give more of a new student feel, see how long it takes to get used to running around the castle.
Or until you turn the minimap on lol.
The specific load time examples in the vid (waiting for a new sector to "stream in" before the door will open) is almost certainly related to them using different preview builds, not graphics.
As much as I would want to turn off the mini-map for full immersion my sense of direction is like Zoro from One Piece

This is currently a bit of a hot topic in other games so I could be biased but I wonder if the longer load time in the 60 fps mode is because they precompile more shaders for the new area before you go into it so the performance doesn't stutter down to 30 fps in the area but if you are in 30 fps mode then the shaders don't have to be precompiled. This is mainly a problem in PC gaming because there are so many different hardware configurations though. I think consoles may not have the problem at all because there's only two different configurations e.g. one configuration for Xbox Series X and another for Series S, so they can precompile them twice and then they work for everybody.

Yeah, I fully expect Patronus + Azkaban to be a DLC because that really makes sense as a DLC (as far as something that isn't core to the school experience and would likely come up closer to your last years at the school, giving the devs time to work on it)
They've already announced that the game will be released with all the content already in it and that there will be no DLC. I keep seeing people talking about DLC under videos. The game isn't even out yet and you already want more, it's crazy

I think there's gonna be a dlc that adds more spells and even brings in some more quests to feed into wizards you hear about in history.
This has so much potential to have many updates/ dlc even mods😍
I think there’s a huge chance that there could be DLC’s which things we want can be added later
You can change the mode in mid game. I would keep fidelity mode on when I’m exploring the castle and hogsmeade but when I go out into the wild or on side quests outside these areas I’ll turn on performance mode.
3:20 ... I think I'd know what I was missing... stable camera movement where the world didn't look like an oil painting and where movement is as smooth as real life, rather than a slowmo scene from The Matrix.

It’s actually been confirmed there is no Protronous spell in game by the Devs. The Dementors are only part of a cut scene depending on what House your in you will visit Azkaban as a cutscene only.

I still can't believe they're even going to attempt to port this to the switch, I expect the switch gameplay to look like a water painting and run at 10fps.

I'll be playing on PC, so these modes aren't a problem since i can configure to have both 60 FPS and good quality, but watching this quality reduction on textures and effects worries me a bit about the base PS4/XBox versions, or maybe it is like that exactly because of these older gen versions (which means the new gen could be upgraded). We will see, though i have no clue how they will make this work on Switch...

40 fps with perfect frame pacing at 1440p is a good standard for games if done right

I really can't wait for this , started watching the movies again yesterday and maybe tomorrow start going to the books , I'm really hyped for this game
Here are a few Questions now one asks about this game:
1. Is there level gating in the game, like in most RPGs?
2. If you over level the enemies, does the game become really easy? (or is there level scaling?)
3. What is there to see in the wilderness around Hogwars? it seems like nothing but forest.
4. Can the player decide when to do a stealthy mission or there are combat missions and stealth missions and those are forced on you? (Kind of like in the Arkham games, or even the spider-man games)
1. I don't think so it's like AC they will just one shot you and won't be fun so come back later or avoid them

3. you can literally see animals and ennemies in the game showcase around the castle so yes. there are enemy camps
4.yes you can chose going stealth but it's hard cause the potion is time limited and the spell is removed if you do any other spell other than petrificus totalus or the enemy sees you

I personally favor graphics over performance. Of course, performance should still be reasonably good, but I love graphics more.

i used to be the same until i tried 60 fps on spiderman, the extra frames make the movement so much better especially in a game like spiderman. And in this game i think it will also make the flying on the broomstick feel much faster and better in 60.
Curious how it will run on Series S. I assume the 60fps mode on series s will end up being closer to 40fps or something
how much HUD customisation is there? For example, is it possible to turn off damage numbers, turn off the yellow dots on the mini map that lead you to an objective, or turn off the golden strand in the air that also leads you around the castle?
I also would like to he able to remove the white outline around enemies in combat, really distracting

@@wantsomedartsm8148 I'm not saying outright remove anything that let's you know who you're targeting, but something more subtle. Like I don't know, an "orb" or something that appears over their heads. Make it look magical if you like.

The 60 fps setting is so much smoother compared to the other one
Thankfully on PC you can play at whatever fps and get all the goodies if you have the hardware.
The 30 vs. 60 fps observations have me curious whether they would pertain to PC. I wonder if the less lighting in 60 fps had to do with hardware limitations in the PS5.
So will i have the option to have 60fps fidelity mode if i play on a full hd (1080p) LCD Monitor? If not, thats some wasted performance.

Can we use spells for combat while flying on the broomstick?
The game is pretty fun. Playing on PS4 and had no issues so far. Was surprised how much I could search and collect things before doing the spider dungeon. Most videos I've seen people was level 5 or 6 getting there. I got to the dungeon unlocking my talents at level 14. Never been so excited to play. Crazy fun for me.
Starting as a fifth year leaves room for years 6 and 7. In that situation I would hope they allow you to bring over your last games save. Let's face it if they do make more games the map is built now. It would only take time to make different puzzles and a new story.

Makes me wonder though, will curses be banned from the duels in Crossed Wands? Would be quite disappointing if you unlock Avada Kedavra and can't just outright murder your dueling opponent.

You're right about ranged / magic combat being a big draw for this game. Most games neglect that. Plus it's feature replete - decoration etc. in Room of Requirement, full flight, character customisation, clothing appearance control. I've read no HP books, only seen the films and this game looks very impressive.
when game comes out ill put my pc through a test since its specs are between the minimum requierments and a reccomended spec and see how it does with reccomended specs. i7-6700,16gb ram and gtx1080 founders edition. my suspicion is i should be at 30-40fps roughly.

the difference between 30fps and 60fps...makes me glad that I have a GXT 4090 liquid cooled, with 64gb or ram and a 16 core high perf per core processor.
I bet the Petronus is locked to the character due to story reasons and is used at specific moments during the game

I'm not necessarily a Potter fan, but i am a massive fan of wizards, and magic in general. So I'm pretty hyped about this. It really looks fun.
that drop in quality between 30 and 60 fps is abysmal
i really hope it was a time of day difference because losing that lighting through the window is such a big difference for 30 fps increase.
It would have made more sense story wise to start from the beginning of fifth year and continue on through seventh year graduation. If Avalanche/ WBgames choose to continue with this story (if it's not entirely self-contained), then year six and seven could be separate games (trilogy?). I don't see this happening. Maybe we'll see sixth and seventh years as expansion DLCs at some point.
The loading times at that door just had to be a random occurrence. Surely performance mode would be quicker then fidelity. Due to obvious reasons. And the lighting/shadows in library had to be just a time of day and position of sun at that current moment during both parties gameplay.
Other youtubers faced the same loading time at doors.
However they stated this wasn't with the release build and that there already exists a day one patch which might iron down those issues.
everyone started off at the same time of day. most people explored the area within the same overall time frame. there's a huge difference in shadows, color quality, and detail.
Noticed Poppy didnt say anything about the PC using an unforgiveable curse...
i'd expect the loadtimes would be flipped, why should loading take longer with less graphics? doesn't really add up xD But we'll see what's up at launch
