Yes man
As a Christian, I find it refreshing that a band like Skillet can bring light of Jesus into someone's life without being preachy in how they do it.
I'm an atheist (former muslim) and I listen to Skillet daily because of this. They're awesome.
Red is awesome too for being Christian band while reaching more people
The got me closer to Jesus
atheist but music gives me hope this especially

The fact that this song is related to what you’re going through and it’s what you picked right now isn’t coincidence brother. Stay strong!
Dude I know this was a year ago but what he went through and what you said gave me Goosebumps, thank you
“It was somewhat expected, but at the end of the day you’re never ready for that type of thing”
That is so true, my great Grandmother was 104 when she passed so we knew it was coming but it was still a shock when she did pass... sorry to hear about your grandmother passing
I read your comment right when he said it. But, sorry for your loss.
Wow,104 That's one long ass life,A life that will always be celebrated,And never forgotten,Remember,Smile not because it's over,Smile because you got to spend whatever time you did with them
Head banging through tears is a good emotion. I lost both my grandmothers within the same month in 2006

Me too, In May. 1 Had a heart attack and 2nd had cancer😔
This is one of Skillet's songs that is written from the direct perspective of God/Jesus, as are The Last Night and Savior.
It begins with God saying "your love is mine for the taking" and "my love just is waiting to turn your tears to roses." (So nice they say it twice.)
Then God says "I'll be the one that's going to hold you. I'll be the one that you run to. My love is a burning, consuming fire."
- When life hurts too much, He says come to me and I will be your strength.
In the chorus 'God' says "when darkness comes you know I'm never far, hear my Whispers In The Dark." - In life's darkest moments, He will speak to us in a soft voice and, as Casting Crowns (another awesome Christian band) says, "calm the storm in me" [in us].
This was great, it was like God whispered into your darkness right there in your reaction video, our dope ass dude. Amazing. #Skillet
Dude i love this comment man, highly underrated
Um you Christian? Cause I am
I am
And always will be
Not a religious person, so I see it a bit differently, but I do respect your view of the song. Amazing perspective👌
My grandma had Alzheimer’s. Tough disease. When she passed we were relieved for her. She was free from her failing mind.
Sorry to hear man. Thats a fucked up disease thats far too common now.
Hope you and yours are doing well
Damn thats tough man, I wish you and yours the best. I felt that with my grandfather and it hurt when he didnt recognize me. He thought I was someone to come fix his truck.
my grandpa died from brain cancer. i wasnt born when he died, but he ive seen pictures of him and my dad said he was awesome. wish i could have seen him. ):
When my great grandmother died she spoke to my mother and said "Dawnie" (She hadn't recognized my mother in months so this alone almost brought her to tears.) "Ernie's here to bring me home. Can I go now Dawnie?" (Her husband Ernie had been dead for 20-30+ years.) She died an hour or so later from complications of her age and side effects from Alzheimer's.
What I'm trying to say is I understand the relief, no matter how fucked up being relieved about such a thing may feel.
My grandmother has alzheimers and she's close to passing. My condolences to you and your family, Alex.
Do you want an advice? Take good care of her, like as if you were her child and now, as if the circle of life was made to be this way, you're the caretaker. Show your humanity and tell everyday you love her. Good luck with your journey.
Feel you, buddy. My grandmother had breast cancer and dementia, the cancer was dealt with. But she has been living with dementia and Alzheimer for 14 years now. The hardest thing isn't thinking about her passing, but knowing she doesn't recognize us or even know who we are. It breaks my father's heart to see her like this. I just hope she will soon find peace.
@@26muca07 That really is the best advice how for you to treat your loved ones.
Love for you and your grandma.
@@26muca07 thank you for the kind words. She's in the hospital right now (has been for 3 weeks) every day feels like its hard to swallow. 😔
The phrase “whispers in the dark” I’m pretty sure refers to a story in Bible where one of the prophets named Elijah finds a cave and God appears to Him in the form of a soft voice speaking. In the story, Elijah was being hunted and didn’t know where to turn. By God speaking to Him, He showed him he was there, regardless of the circumstances, which does seem applicable to what you are going through.
I’ll be praying for you and your family Alex. We’re all here for you through this.
Matthew Evans great analysis!
You nailed it.

Wow
@@AlexHefner u gotta check out Elevation Worship they are really good
This song is so true, “you’ll never be alone” praying for you and your family Alex. We all care about you brother.
This song me through some dark times. Especially after i left my abusive ex. Depression hit hard for the first few months after that and i turned to Skillets music to get me out of it.
This song was part of my childhood, got me through some really dark shit too. Still hard to believe I was 10 back then-
Sending love your way brother. Im going through the same thing. My condolences
I feel your pain.
I lost both my grandparents a week apart from each other.
Stay strong
Damn. Okay.... That's fucked up bro... Sending love your way
@Jesse MacKenzie my grandparents were married 70-something years and they followed each other. I never got to meet them they died before I was born. My parents didn't spend too much time away from each other either my mom went first and then my dad but I wasn't there and it was for the wrong reasons I was supposed to be with them I was the chosen person to take care of them and I got that robbed from me so it's extremely painful. Not only did I lose all my stuff but I lost my inheritance and the little Trinkets and things that my mother told me stories about from her childhood my mom was born in the twenties in the very early twenties so I'm much older than most of you and having her sit down and tell me stories about hundreds of things my whole life and why she wanted me to have them and then have those things probably get thrown in the garbage for the person who just wanted the money and the property. So they took my stuff and got everything that was legal illegally changed into their name and I got nothing and I know that my parents suffered and it kills me. I guess maybe now that their God they know the truth but who knows we don't know till we get there. Take care of that was a very insightful thing that you said.❣
@Jonathan Sims So sorry ❣🥀
Same here
i lost my gramma from cancer on August 31st, 2005 and my aunt from pneumonia afterwards...i know what it's like to lose ppl you love, but just push thru it, and soon you'll be a better person

Sick Of It🖤🖤😻
My Grampa had Alzheimers when he died recently. Such a sad, awful disease. Love you Alex!
Understatement
@Rachit Bhatia I'm sorry to hear it. It is untreatable for one thing. It is possible they may eventually forget who you are, which is the worst part. Know that they haven't changed, their mind has.
Tell them you love them and hold on to them while you can. Love from me to you and your family.
I’m so sorry Alex. I lost my grandma too recently. Jeremy Camp “He knows” and Skillets “Lucy” got me through it. ❤️
Just try to be careful tho. I "used" Lucy as a coping song when I lost someone. And now I can't really listen to that song since then. I'm forever grateful for that song to be there for me and helo me get through it but I'm just not capable of listening to that song anymore but it's good that when nothing and noone can really helo music can be there for us. Take care!!:)
He Knows is such a comforting song. ❤️
Sending lots of love and healing vibes to you and your family. Dealing with the loss of a family member is never easy. 💜
That's actually the miracle of the internet. Connecting you to so many people who either understand what you're going through or want to comfort you in your time of need. Passionate people come together to create strong bonds over things they love.
You've got the strength to keep going, no matter what life throws at you. Your family should take the time they need to grieve and then celebrate the great times you all had with your Grandmother before her passing. You even have something greater, you have a visual and audio recording of your grandmother's words to you in your vlogs. Cherish those recordings always, they're truly special.
So sorry for your loss, my grandma has suffered from Alzheimer’s for the last ten years so sending all my love to your family, there are so many people who understand your pain so may you and your loved ones get through this sad time ❤️
I love Skillet! Saved me through many dark times in life. Here are my favorite Skillet songs that gave me hope and strength to carry on:
***Not Gonna Die (with the intro)***
Legendary
Back from the Dead
Comatose
Save Me
Rise
Victorious
Skillet means whispers in the dark like when you’re in a dark place listen for Gods whispers and he’ll lead you out of the darkness
I"m so sorry for your loss! This was the first song from Skillet that I ever heard. I don't categorize myself as a Christian, though I believe in a Higher Source. What I love about Skillet's music is the positivity and message of hope, love, and courage. They are so uplifting! Skillet became one of my favorite bands and I've seen them in concert a few handfuls of time. Even winning a personalized video from John Cooper once. Highlight of my life! I love watching people discovery Skillet and listening to their music, enjoying their enjoyment. They are a band that NEVER disappoints. Much love to you, Alex, and your family! And welcome to the Panheads!
I highly recommend listening to "The Last Night" by Skillet
This is the exact song for him in this situation.
Please Alex, do yourself a favor and listen to this song with the lyrics in. You'll feel better.

💯🙏🏾
Especially the live version from Comatose Comes Alive.
Listen to “in loving memory” from alterbridge. Don’t even need to react. Just listen. Thoughts your family
That song was my go to song when my parents died in a car crash early 2019.
My go to in these times is "wonderful Life" by Alterbridge.
I lost my father on Memorial Day that song is the only thing that got me through
Same with the colour of leaving by parkway drive.
Yes good song
My grandma passed away from Alzheimer's as well in July 2019. She had it since I was 7 and she died when I was 16.
I always kind of took "whispers in the dark" to mean that god (or anyone you love as I'm wiccan) are the whispers in the darkness, the voice that'll lead you through it. The voice that'll take you back to the light. But I love his idea of what it means as well, that ignoring those negative whispers trying to draw you in deeper while the stars lead you away from the dark
@EJ Simas Hoping one day you’ll pull away from your Wiccan practices. My pastor was a Wiccan. There are many Wiccan who find truth, yet no accounting of a Christian becoming Wiccan.
I hope, if you are chosen, that you shall be bathed in light, renewal and truth under the one true God, Yahweh. Take care brother.
@@justaguy653 I was raised Baptist and I found so many backwards contradictions. Like god loves all so he's going to burn the people who don't agree with him for all eternity. My goddess is bright and loving and embraces all without judgment for who they are. I'll stick with her thanks
@EJ Simas Gods Love is represented through grace, mercy, and the prerogative of choice. However he does not give you the privilege of determining a different outcome to what your prerogative of choice will entail. The consequences are bound to that choice.
If you find contradictions you haven’t read the Bible in entirety. Reading several chapters of a book will never give you full understanding; so is the same for the Bible.
Baptists are the worst Denomination of Christianity above the catholics their theology is flawed.
Hey just wanted to say that Wiccans are bad ass! Anyone of any religion who says yall arent are seriously missing out on some great people and persepctives : )
1: I'm sorry for your loss.
2: I love skillet
3: So annoying that all people care about is selfishly commenting their demands/requests and can't even just enjoy what's going on at the moment first.
Dynamorphic is honestly have to agree 🤣
I always hated that shit man. Even when he's livestreaming and says more than once he's not taking requests they just roll in with no regard to his feelings. So dumb
Dynamorphic Exactly.
Dynamorphic I completely agree
Dude Hefner, so sorry for your loss. I share your same feelings man. I lost my grandma back in ‘99 due to emphazema or how ever you spell it.. I’m 31 now so it’s been a long time.
It’s so great how you’re so positive even in the heat of the situation. I hope that you and your family continue to stay strong. Great choice in reaction video as well with Skillet, whispers in the dark. Take care man! Love your vidéos too!!
Your grandma was easily one of my favorite characters in your vlogs. RIP Alex’s grandma. You won’t be forgotten.
React to skillet - victorious, it's about Chester Bennington
Really? Who said this?

I never knew that. now i'm going to go listen to that song again and probably cry.
@@alex158a I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Omg.
When my dad passed away, I stayed behind after the other family members left and the song that started playing when I got in the car... Silent Lucidity by Queensryche (great song and band, BTW). Never was such an appropriate song played at the right moment. May your Grandma rest in peace, Bro.
If you're hurting then I would recommend Alterbridge - in loving memory. They are touring with skillet at the moment
Loving memory by alterbridge got me through the passing of my grandmother 2 years ago. STRONGLY recommend it as well. I'm so sorry for your loss.
This comment needs more attention to get him to do it
How you know you've been watching Alex's channel for too long: You know something's up (without looking at the title), because you can tell when his smile is a little dimmer than usual.
My condolences to you and your family, Alex. I may have not known your grandma, but it's enough to know you cared about her. And don't feel bad about not knowing what you feel or what to say, not wanting to see everyone crying, and getting lost in the music. We all process our grief differently. I hope your pain eases soon, and that you have many more dope-ass days to come.
We love you Alex. I'm so sorry for your loss. I've just recently lost my grandfather myself so i understand your pain. Your happy deminer always gives me the boost to feel better on bad days. Keep smiling and keep being yourself
So sorry for your loss Alex. Losing a loved one is never easy. Love your reactions and keep moving on. They always stay with us! 😇
I’m sorry to hear the news Alex. I lost my first grandparent a few years ago on 9/11. I’ll never be able to forget that day for many reasons. Just know the sadness doesn’t go away but the good memories become more prevalent. Hang in there and keep it up, love being able to enjoy your videos after a hard day.
Christopher Morrow such a great comment my man! I really appreciate the love!!
It's always hard to lose a loved one. Sending my condolences and love brother.
You've always been so supportive for the audience; and you sharing those stuffs is really appreciated. And yeah we all go through some shit and it really helps when you share it.
im sorry for your loss, my grandmother passed away a few years ago, and listening to this band is what keeps me going.God is always with us through thick and thin.

And also "save our last goodbye"
I’m so glad you also did this song ! I know it’s been a year but I’m sorry for your loss. Amazed that you picked this powerful song during this time. Was not a coincidence! This song has brought me through my darkest moments in my life. Through feeling like I had nothing and loosing most of my friends /fam due to my parents divorce and other stuff at the time. It’s gotten better but it’s taken over a decade. This and many other skillet songs have gotten me through those times. It is my fav song of all time because of this. I’m glad it helped you too
Through this heavy time, I hope you carry the love that surrounds you. It never seems fair, but I am happy you got to have moments, memories & love shared with your Grandma. Thank you for sharing this. :)
I feel the pain lost my grandmother around December 2015 and my grandfather would follow around June of 2017 it's hard to think about it since they did more for me and my sister growing up then my own parents.
How I heard of Skillet for the first time?
My daughter opened some vid and "Whispers in the dark" was the background music. I liked it so much that I researched what song and artist it was and then just kept going through their song list...
Ivan Stepanovic ditto. Was watching runescape (online game) music videos and I e had whispers in the dark. Couldn't get enough
I’m so sorry for your loss brotha, and I’m so glad this song spoke to you, this song spoke to me so much when I was a teenager, especially when I lost my grandfather to cancer! I’m here for you bro, and I’m glad this song was of some help, it’s always been one of my favorites from Skillet!!!
Thank you for making this Video!!!! My grandma just past and had dementia. It's Hard, Be Well!!!! And Don't forget to Smile at The Great Memories that you Had With Her!!!!! Have a great day!!!!!!
Stay strong dude, even though it's hard… She, now, rests in peace
Sorry for you loss Alex ❤

I'm so sorry for your loss, I feel your pain my man, lost my grandmother a couple years ago before she was ready to go.
I'm so sorry to hear about your grandma, Alex. Hang in there, and grieve. It'll take you as long as it takes you. Hugs and lots of love to you and your family.
I'm so sorry for your loss Alex. I connect with you at the moment because my grandma also passed away not so long ago. My deepest condolences, just by you sharing this piece of life with all of us is the reason why I love your videos. I love you man, and may you and your family get through these tough times.
Had substance abuse when my grandmother passed away. But in the end I realized and I know she'd rather see me with a smile instead of a tear, while remembering her.
So every time I think about her, I don't cry nor get the urge to touch alcohol anymore. I feel joy.
This is a big emotional toll for some people...
Feel ya man, i think everyone has that kinda relationship with their grandma.
This song actually saved my life years ago, and constantly heals me. I grew up in church but it was all religion until I had my own experience with God. Then the lyrics took a whole new meaning and I have never been more grateful for bands like Skillet that don’t hold back and never did. I knew and loved their music from their first album. This song is a huge throwback!
So sorry for your loss. It will get better, hold your head up and just keep moving forward in the light. Know she's looking down on you and proud of who you are.
Man, Alex’s grandma passed away and Stevie T turned down joining DragonForce, and they both had videos explaining how they were feeling, Alex and Stevie T are easily two of the best guys I’ve ever seen on CZcams.
