NO you do not use grease on the filter. You should apply a little engine oil on the filter and gasket.

One question, anybody. I am considering buying this model 2010, but people warn me about VIBRATIONS from the engine, saying that they are much more disturbing than in her little Sister CBR 600.....is it true?

You still own this bike? If so I bet you’ve worn those plastic tabs on the fairings quite a bit. Definitely something you want to take your time with. Great bikes! Owned mine 4years now! Also would never put water intentionally on chain use cleaner wipe off, wax, then lube 👍🏼

Word to the wise, do not use K&N filters. They changed manufacturers a few years back and there has been a disastrous decrease in quality. Many tracks and track day organizations have banned the use of K&N filters at their facilities/events because of this problem. The "bolt" cap is a weak point and may fail when oil pressure rises as the engine climbs in RPMs. I have seen two filters catastrophically fail in the last two years first-hand. OEM filters or HiFlo seem to be the best options.

actually sold the cbr1000rr for how much oil it has burnt i heard that the 08 year had that problem with them but oh well it was nice having it
im thinking of doing a review on the s1krr pretty soon with the mods that are on it, what do you think?

Go for it. I just picked up an '08 CBR1k for track and very limited street a few weeks ago. It certainly does burn oil, I've put in 1.5 quarts over the last 1,000 miles, but longer trips are why I have my Street Triple (and eventually FZ-10) so burning a little oil over 140-160 miles each track day isn't a big issue for me.

Hey, I heard you got the wining noise when you start the bike, what is it? Why it is doing that? And is your bike burning oil? Mine does the same wining and i read online they say it’s the crank issue, do you have any idea what that is?

It takes 3.2 quarts and you can just use motor oil to lube oil filter gasket and you use car oil this is a high rpm engine how does it work also bc wet clutch

Spraying chain lube is on the outside is a waste or lube. When you turn on the bike the lube all shoots of. Should spray it where you footpeg is on the inside your chain so when it spins it goes on sprockets also

Be carefull using those k&n oil filters. I had one fail at the track an about ruined my motor. The filter bypassed the element and kept flow from being achieved. I knoticed a big change in valve train noise and apon removal of the filter realized that it was retaining pressure. As soon as the filter started to loosen oil from the filter ejected all over the side of the engine case. The oil inside was very dark and sooted. Only 200 miles on the oil and filter. High flow or oem is the best filters to go with from what ive researched
