    I have a car with factory sub woofers. The amp for that is turned on with 5 V. My new stereo provides 12V for that function which will create a pop when turned on.
    Other resources have said to "just" hookup a 7805 voltage regulator "chip" and you're good to go.
    I am fairly well versed with those kind of voltage regulators but have always used support components.
    Do you know how to make that connection? I've probably got some lying around.

    Can you please help with the wiring for a Pioneer FH-X731BT?
    The Pioneer harness has a blue and white System Remote wire.
    The Metra 70-5520 harness has
    Power Antenna Blue wire.
    Amp Turn On blue and white wire.
    Amp Ground black and white wire.
    Which one on the Metra harness does the Pioneer System Remote wire go to? Ive heard the System Remote wire is for Amp Turn On and also for Power Antenna.
    The Metra harness has a Orange Illumination wire and a Orange and White Dimmer wire, the Pioneer only has a single Orange and White wire.
    This is for a 2006 Sonata *without* the factory amp and subwoofer. No other amps are being added, just the radio to the stock door speakers and front door tweeters and has a antenna in the back window glass.
    I had to buy 2 Metra harnesses and take the Yellow memory wire from one harness and put it into the larger empty slot on the other harness that I will be using because that will match the slot on the cars (Sonata) factory harness where the Power Antenna goes. At least that is what I have read I should do.
    The Metra harness also has a Brown Phone Mute wire, which the Pioneer does not have.
    The rest of the wires on the Metra Harness and the Pioneer harness seem to be the same..
    8 wires for the speakers.
    Red ignition.
    Yellow Battery.
    Black Ground.

    I have a question, so I have a LC-GMRC-01 harness for my 2003 GMC Envoy SLE. I bought a aftermarket double din stereo with GPS, back up camera, etc.
    The issue I came across is when I was all the wires I ran into vss/speed sensor to connect on the harness, but the stereo don’t have that wire to connect. So should I worry about that or is my GPS on the stereo going to work? The gps is built in and has a 8gb card for the maps already. Please help thanks.

    Question... I bought a pioneer avh1550 nex. Sold me everything they said I would need but I don’t have any connectors. Besides the ways mentioned in your video is there a way to make the connections such as twisting the wires together and electrical taping it off. My first aftermarket install so I don’t really know

    • @Doamino41
      @Doamino41 Před 4 lety

      Method of wire connections are totally up to you and comes with some risks. Many believe(including me) that soldering makes the best connection. It makes the strongest and most reliable connection.But you would also have to use heat shrink and not everyone has a soldering iron or the time to do it. So most people I know use butt connectors. (I believe Best Buy does). Just be sure to use a crimper, not pliers to make a reasonable connection but might fail later.
      Twisting wires together and taping them off might work for a short time but will probably fail soon.

    I found this video because of the "metro" type of harness. As background info, we have a 2000 National Tropi-Cal RV with a Ford F53 engine. We're removing the old radio/cassette player (Audiovox IM500). I received the color schematic for this radio from ASA (who did original install) so I can match up the wires (by color and function) from the old to the wires on the BOSS Audio 508UAB Car Stereo - Single Din radio we purchased. We purchased a wiring harness Metra 70-1771 Radio Wiring Harness for Ford/Lincoln/Mazda 1998-Up into Car, 16 Pin) (but apparently there is NO plug that matches behind the dash). Instead, we actually have the one like you show in this video. Here's the difference (and my question), the original radio wires didn't have the TWO wires (+ and -) like the new radio/CD player. Do they go into the SAME place? Hope I don't sound too ignorant...but this will be my first time doing this (and my hubby's). We were thinking to match up the corresponding old wires with the new wires (to the matching speakers, and also ignition, ground, and battery (probably sauter them instead of using the butt connectors). Think this will work? If not...do you have any suggestions? Sorry this is so long!

    • @Qualitymobilevideo
      @Qualitymobilevideo  Před 7 lety +1

      Yea that sounds like a wiring issue! There's a current draw going on somewhere, its hard to diagnose without seeing it myself so you'd have to do some investigating or bring it to someone. make sure you wired the harness correctly. Could be a loose connection at the battery terminal. Could be related to the ground, your amplifier, etc. Make sure that the head unit itself fully shuts off when you shut the car off. This is verified by having 0.0 DCV on ignition and 0.0 ACV on a speaker output when the car is off.

    Yea the two times ive had butt connectors installed with a cd player i had all sorts of issues. first time was done by a PROFESSIONAL installer and had to go back to the place 2 times because of loose wires and bad sound. Ended up taking the radio out myself and cutting the wires and re doing them with electrical tape. Never had a issue. Second time i tried the butt connector myself. I crimped down with a actual tool that gave the proper pressure for the size wire and all. ended up with the same issue like years prior when i was a teen. Ripped it out and tape and twisted it as well. Ever since ive only ever taped and twisted my systems. I have a truck that i did when i was 18 that my brother still has and never has had a issue with my install. ELECTRICAL TAPE FTW

    Any recommendations on how to eliminate engine/alternator noise heard through the speakers with an aftermarket radio when depressing the gas pedal - gets louder as car goes faster/pedal depressed more? I've checked out and verified I don't have a bad ground, defective head unit, defective amplifier, bad RCA cables or a problem in the vehicle’s charging system. I've also installed ground loop isolators and all that does is somewhat suppress the noise, but it still can be heard. Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED more than you'll ever know!

    What is your wiring gauge (AWG) recommendation to the constant, ground and speakers wires?

    • @Qualitymobilevideo
      @Qualitymobilevideo  Před 5 lety

      The power and ground terminals depend on the power draw of your system, generally 4 gauge is safe for average systems, but once you start using really powerful amps you have to go down. 10-12 gauge is always safe for speakers and subs

    so I installed a CD player in my friend's car. he don't have a amp or subs. but after about 15-25min his CD player cuts of. and he has to turn the car off then back on to get it working again. I THINK he also said it does it only when the volume is around 30-40.. he thinks a wire is loose or I hooked it up wrong. and I think it's the CD player that it's just defective. have u heard or had this problem b4. please give me feedback asap

    • @Qualitymobilevideo
      @Qualitymobilevideo  Před 7 lety

      Hey Cory. Could be a lot of things, yea the radio could be defective. Also could be a wiring issue with the harness, sounds like a voltage drop, make sure all the power cables are secure and unbroken. Could be a bad ground, you king of just have to diagnose it by process of elimination.

    I understand which wire goes to what and even the colors and how to solder as I have an electronics background. What you do not do is explain which connector goes to what and why as when you purchase an install kit it comes with multiple connectors with all the same wires and no explanation of which connector goes to what.

    • @jessedoyle8329
      @jessedoyle8329 Před 5 lety

      Most kits come with a few sizes you have to figure out which one fits your factory harness by taking out the old deck. When you find the one that fits you then connect the wires from the harness to the wire harness for the deck. When those are all connected you plug everything in

      That probably isn't very common for a stereo, it seems likely those are transmit and receive data connections (Tx,Rx are often abbreviations for transmit,receive) It could be for data transfer within the car, or some kind of wireless data connection.
