Not a controversial decision. Libbok cannot be relied on in tight games against elite opposition where the difference between victory and defeat is a few points. Ask the All Blacks why you need a kicker who actually kicks to win games. They lost a World Cup final not because they had a man sent off but because they failed to make use of the points offered to them.
Sacha took his opportunity against the Welsh and showed he's got the goods under pressure. Libbok has had many opportunities for club and country and has wilted. He's still an outstanding playmaker with a key role to play, but it makes little sense to bring him on for a first test that will determine whether SA can win the series when you can bring him on in the second with a 1-0 advantage.
