Loving your vids and have bought your plans - they’re great! One “voice of experience” note: leaving open intakes no bueno. We did a bit of cutting over a 140 Corvair back about 50 years ago, and ended up having to replace a piston cuz slag in cylinder. Sorry for picking nits!

Thanks man! If you continue watching you’ll see I dropped a valve and had to replace a piston, I wonder if this is why? I never caught that before. I’m usually pretty cautious about that kind of stuff but the camera and narration sometimes makes me miss the little stuff. Thank you for joining in on the fun and enjoy the build!

D.O.M. This is a mild steel tubing that started out as a flat sheet of steel, formed into tubing and welded. DOM stands for Drawn Over Mandrel and it is actually ERW tubing that has gone through a second process that shapes and smoothes the tubing so that the walls are more uniform. From NEZ rules: The cage shall be made with cold drawn seamless pipes with
the measurements 40mm in diameter and material thickness of 2mm.

Yes. Thank you for confirming this. DOM does not have the welded seam and is what must be used. ERW still has the seam and cannot.

@@KJRaycing Nearly all racing leagues such as sprint cars, use DOM tubing, It is super strong for its weight. there are other exotics you can use that will meet specs but your running into thousands of dollars for materials, titanium comes to mind but it's ridiculously expensive.

Nice. Where do you plan to relocate the radiator?

The next videos are out in about an hour. It was too long and I had to break them up. Radiator actually turned out great!

Where can I find a list of the car rules. I'm looking into building one myself.

I understand you have to follow the rules and regulations for racing but don't they have a adapter you could weld in then you bolt that bar in that would still be compliant with the rules Just make life easier working on or getting the motor in out

The rule book states the crossbar can be removable so yes that is definitely an option. I install my engine from the side so it wasn't a factor for me at all.
