Remember THIS IS A MEMORIAL SERVICE for the 5 police officers killed. This is not the time to push your agenda, pander to your political party, make excuses for the killer, or debase the law enforcement institutions for which these dead men worked. If you can't see how disgusting and inappropriate this is, i'd question your morality as a member of the human race, and your maturity level as a person.

"It is easier for teenagers to buy a Glock than a book"
I guess it's not a lie if it helps your narrative huh.

They were there to honor and mourn the fallen 5 officers and they have to sit through anti-gun propaganda from the president. Disgusting.

Brilliant speech. The idiots that hate him, spew their usual worthless, brainless comments, but this was thoughtful, insightful, historical. Anyone with an open mind will take something away from this speech. Decide who they are going to be.

Dawn Cassady He had to 'thread the needle' on this one. It was 90% about the officers, but he has to mention the near race riots that are evolving.
Look past which parts you didn't like and see what he said. How we ask too much of our police officers. How the killing was from racial hatred. How the people know these neighborhoods are dangerous.
How we all have to choose to soften our hearts. Talk to someone who's experiences are different ...without arguing. But, denying someone else's experience is never going to work.
If you are hurt and your husband or significant other tells you "That shouldn't bother you" or "Well, what about me?", how well does that work?

    • @danielkinem4500
      @danielkinem4500 Před 8 lety

Dawn Cassady I didn't mean ask you about this issue. I would have no way to know what color you or your husband is. I meant, if something is bothering you, mother-in-law, co-workers, whatever...and your husband dismisses it because he feels it shouldn't bother you, how well does that work? It's never worked for me, in fact it makes things worse.
Step one is acknowledging the problem and recognizing that black people have a different experience. Pointing out other problems (black on black, etc) does not work to solve THIS problem, it only makes people more defensive. THIS problem illustrated ...my boys travel the country and I'm positive that the police won't harass them. I know they aren't getting shot by the police. If we were black, SAME EXACT PEOPLE INSIDE, different skin, I would have to fear for their safety. I sleep well at night, while black moms and dads worry.
So, acknowledge there is a problem and work on it. And, you're right, part of it is clearly personal responsibility. Obama said just that, "We ask too much of the police and too little of ourselves."
I have a lot of suggestions for the police, but I don't know how to submit them....

He's been demonized even in the last few days for being against the
police in favor of black men gunned down by police, and now you're
demonizing him for standing up for murdered police officers. Obviously
      he can't fucking win.

Lol, another blind Obama hater. Well, here's your buddy Trump mentioning the murdered black civilians in his address. He brings them up and it was only 2 minutes long. Doesn't even mention the cops' names....

Yeah, cops are slaughtered by black racists, and Barack Hussein Obama calls on cops to be less racist.
The next day he hosted BLM "leaders" at the WH.

Obama also came across a WWII memorial sign for the United States Marine Corp. Obama told his aid that the sign was misspelled and it should have read "Marine Corpse".
