I do know that Zoltan is one of the few civilian instructors in close quarter combat for the Army, works with the Home Deployment Project for homeless vets. Jeremy Spencer is a reserve police officer. The band as a whole hire veterans to work their shows, especially on tour. These are just a few tidbits I know about them. So whether their passion and support for the military/police/first responders was born from the band or not, I don't know. It doesn't matter to me, I just appreciate all they do for ones who've sworn to protect us.
Couldn't have said it better brother been a firefighter going on 7 years now and every call is our opportunity to make someone's worse day a little bit better
So glad to see Brian May (Queen’s lead guitarist). As always good message , strong vocals. I think “Blue on Black” means the blue siren of Police, Doctors, Firefighters etc who do their job 24h even in night. (Sorry for bad english)
Please react to FFDP - The Pride and Jeckyll and Hyde. I believe that none of them are veterans. I think Ivan’s father was in the military and (Jason) their former drummer is now a reserve police officer. They just have a special place in there hearts for people who sacrifice themselves for us.
I don't know if anyone has commented on this, but Blue on Black is a Kenny Wayne Shepherd song. I'd love to know the story behind them all coming together to cover this.
It was to raise funds for The Gary Sinise Foundation. FFDP thought bringing them all together would be a great way to do, especially including the KWS, since it's his song
They all came together for this song/video to 1) honor ALL first responders. Including the military. 2) raise awareness of first responder sacrifices to protect us all. 3) raise money for Gary Sinise foundation. His foundation builds homes for wounded vets and first responders, helps to pay ongoing medical bills etc.
Kenny Wayne Shepherd has said this is one of his favorite songs hes written because the lyrics speak to different people in different ways. The idea came to him because he was wearing navy blue and black together and the impact of the clothing he was wearing was sort of nullified by the two colors being next to each other (it's a basic fashion concept to not wear them together). That said, I find the lyrics to be about the feeling of not being able to do anything impactful. "Tears on a river, push on a shove, it don't mean much" is just one of a few examples of that. "Whisper on a scream, doesn't change a thing, doesn't bring you back, blue on black" also refers to the idea of not being able to reach someone, whether they're far away, separated by a barrier (physical or otherwise), or have died. I think FFDP's interpretation here is talking about how the thanks that is given (and even that could be given) to first responders for what they do will never be enough, it would be inconsequential like "a match on a fire" or wearing "blue on black". Probably not the way most people would see the song, but Kenny Wayne Shepherd says he loves it because everyone relates to it in their own way, which is how music should be. Edit: Obviously FFDP is referencing those who have died very clearly, but it's a great tribute to ALL first responders.
yeesssss yall react to this song..thank you lol.. yall are awesome..5FDP is a big supporter for the military and first responders ..and heres a fun facts Ivan Moody the singer his body guard that he hired happen to be a Veteran . and Zoltan Bathory one of the guitarist with the dreadlocks he had some strong ties to the military. and he one of the few civies or civilian certified by the pentagon and US Army as an L1 Modern Army Combatives Instructor- Close Combat. He also Raised alot of money for PTSD and is a chairman for the Home Deployment Project in Las Vegas. which they help vets with PTSD, TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), and Homelessness.
His voice grabs you! Love the mixed genres here . He’s got a haunting voice. Have you all heard Marc Broussard “Home” ? He and Stapleton need to jam . Cajun blues. I’m granddaughter, daughter ,widow , and mom of a vet.(s) My parents were also law enforcement and first responders . 👏💯💙 Thank you Stan for your service.
Blue on black was a song by Kenny Wayne Sheppard who is also in this cover Brian may is the guitarist in queen and Brantly Gilbert is another country singer
None are Vets as far as I know. Zoltan, the one with the dreads is one of five only civilians to be able train the military in combat. This song is originally by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, the blond with the hat, who is an amazing guitarist. A portion of the proceeds from this single is going to The Gary Sinise Foundation
Wow, watching Brian May get down on the guitar like that doesn't happen often. If you don't know, Brian May is a legend in rock guitar (queen) and it would take A LOT to motivate him to lay down like this on a track. This clearly shows his respect to 5fdp as a band and their message. I'm in awe.

This song is a cover of Kenny Wayne Sheppard, who also appeared in the video. It was cool that Kenny, who wrote the song and FFDP stayed in the background and payed homage to Brian May. They also let the first responders take center stage. Well done
Kenny Wayne Shepherd does a phenomenal version of this song as well 🙂. As a former police officer (still certified but not actively working 😐) , I absolutely LOVE this song. As a matter of fact it's the ringtone for my son-in-law (who went through the same police academy I did 20yrs earlier 🙂). I wouldn't say that I'm a hardcore FFDP fan, but I do like quite a few of their songs. I really appreciate the reaction videos y'all do, especially those that deal with the military. My eldest is a US AIRMAN. 👍 Keep up the good work!
The lead singer Zoltan b a t h o r y born in Soviet Hungary and is now an American citizen most of the relatives of this group are veterans. Veterans sent them their dog tags and they put it on their album cover
Blue on Black is originally Kenny Wayne Sheppard's song, FFDP covered it. Some of FFDP's crew and roadies are former military. Their former drummer is a reserve police officer.
This is my favorite song. I don't know much about 5 finger death punch. But Brantley Gilbert country singer and he has always been about vets. God bless Y'ALL sending love and respect from the WESTSIDE 702 & 775
None of the band members are vets. They do however understand how underappreciated our sacrifice are to the country at large. They realized their fanbase was/ is military, former military and those that do the jobs most Americans don't wanna do like run into a burning building or run toward the sound of gunfire. So that's what they've geared their music toward.
Gentlemen welcome to Brian May of Queen (grey hair) and Brantley Gilbert (guy with cap) Really should check out some og BG music!! The Weekend Country must be country wide
lead singer, zoltan bathory, is a martial artist and is one of the few civilians certified the pentagon and the u.s. army as an l1 modern army combatives instructor- close combat.
I have high respect for first responders, veterans and active military. My uncle was a police officer who died doing his job. My great great grandfather was in ww1. My great grandfather was in ww2. My grandfather and Uncle (grandfather brother) served during Vietnam. My little sister is in active duty in the navy. I have a cousin and my bestfriend is in the Marines. Thank you for your service. Thank you to all the first responders.
I truly appreciate this band for 2 reasons. 1) Great music 2) They supports the Military and first responders. Not just the typical rocker nod. They really do a lot. Almost all of my family are military. Going back generations we've had people in every branch. Both Men and Women. And those who aren't, are police, fire Dept, nurses , paramedics etc...first responders. My brother is a perfect example: He was a military Pilot who was also a volunteer fire fighter for just over 20+ years. Now he's flying life flight helicopters. And volunteers to fly the choppers fighting C A. Wildfires every year! I met my husband in the Army. So, what these guys do is FANTASTIC. Zoltan organizes slot of this working with the military. FYI He's originally from Turkey. And the Gary Sinise Foundation is doing GREAT things for our Vets. He has smart homes built for Vets who are injured and disabled. Just amazing work. You guys should do something this holiday season. That would make a great reaction video.
Zoltan, one of the guitarists, is a vet for a foreign military, but on their first album they did a cover of bad company and they got huge support from the active and veteran community, which led to them playing shows over seas. They have cited this as a huge inspiration, and since then they have leaned in to that side of the fan base heavily, and openly showed support for both military and first responders.
If you guys want a fantastic FFDP video to react to, I strongly recommend Living The Dream. I know I’d love to see your reactions to that one. It’s been misunderstood by some, but most people got the point. Keep up the good work guys!!
I've watched each of your reaction video's for 5FDP's songs. They were all great. Each issue has touched me in some way. I have friends who I've lost to PTSD and suicide. My dad is a retired EMT and Firefighter. And I've been through 2 divorces. This band's songs are very powerfull. And they also have some really bad songs too. ha ha.
Definitely need to react to when the seasons change by FFDP. Awesome video (currently watching all you ffdp videos so I don't know if you two have reacted yet lol)
Guys! You should do a Veteran react of Bad Company also from Five Finger Death Punch. Also, sadly I can't watch the react of Wrong Side of Heaven because it's blocked due to the rights and copywrite owned by the discography I think. I'm new on the channel and I really like what you guys do. I'm from Argentina, but I like videos and content like you guys are making. Big hug from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina! Keep going!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
The lyrics question what matters: blue fades into black; whisper disappears into the wind, etc Kenny Wayne Shepherd (blond guitarist in video with hat) wrote this. Love Five Finger version
I think "blue on black", is referring to the fallen officers sign. When a fellow police officer dies or gets killed. They where black ribbon with a horizontal blue stripe to honor them across there badge.
Damnit i love these videos and i really wanna see the wrong side of heaven reaction because its a GREAT SONG but cant see the video because its blocked in my country (the netherlands) and Germany to for some reason something to do with additorial right or something :(
ffdp is very pro first responder and military, they also like to actually have meaning behind the music and the accompianing music videos. you saw this with the other videos yall have reacted to, they donate proceeds to foundations or use the video to promote various issues like suicide, ptsd and the like. Say if you put blue “on” black you wouldn’t see it, wouldn’t change a thing as the lyrics go. Just like “tears on a river”, cold on ice, match on a fire....
check out bad company its a compilation of a bunch of real videos of their time in Iraq with actual military vets they stayed have they highest military fan base than any other artist they are amazing Ivan Moody is a beautiful artist

Jeremy was the drummer, Jason is still in the band as far as I know :)
Dani R. Your right I got names mixed up.
Ivan was a ghost sniper n jemery is a cop if u google five finger death punch member served in military
Zoltan is also one of the only, if not the only, civilians to be a combatives instructor for the US Army.
“Bad Company” for when FFDP went and toured for the military
“Jekyll and Hyde” to see FFDP joke around and have fun.
Watch both please!
I don't know if anyone has commented on this, but Blue on Black is a Kenny Wayne Shepherd song. I'd love to know the story behind them all coming together to cover this.
Kevin Burgess yep , I was wondering the same
I want them to review KWS version
It was to raise funds for The Gary Sinise Foundation. FFDP thought bringing them all together would be a great way to do, especially including the KWS, since it's his song
KWS is one of my favorite! I love him. Blue on black has been an all time favorite of mine since I was a child.
Almost 20 years as EMT and Paramedic....thanks for the video guys....the thank yous don't come often enough in that line of business.

Brantley Gilbert is the singer with the hat - he is always raising awareness/funds for vets - you should react to his "One Hell of an Amen"
