@@maggierezac5820 i stand by my statement, plenty of people did USO shows in far more hostile warzones...they just didn't need to make a spectical of it. These guys use the war to sell record. So until they open their big ass houses up or uss their tour bus or any of their other hundreds of ways they could be more active in getting these homeless vets the housing, medical, psych or employment help they need, they are no more effective than a tv commercial.
Luke 12:48 - "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required; and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."

Any noise at all will wake him up. It makes me wonder if something happened to him back there beyond what he’s told me. I’m about to cry writing this as a grown man because I’ve only ever seen my dad cry once in my whole life. When I was 15 he sat me down to talk about the war, because earlier that day I told him I wanted to join the service. He cried that night. Whenever I hear this song, I'm reminded of my uncle.
When he finally returned from service, he almost immediately was homeless.
His wife took his kids, and all of his possessions, and sold them while he was away.
For over a year, we could not physically find him.
Then one day my mother found her brother living next to a dumpster in some random ally, and called my grandmother to get me and my brother out there to get him home. He stayed with us for over a year, and I had never seen someone so broken and mentally absent before, it took several months before he spoke more than one word responses to anything.
In the end, it got worse before it got better, but he, with lots of love and family support, got back on his feet, eventually found his kids, and got his life back together.

@@dylanchiesa602 Real Nazi's that fought in ww2 are all dead pretty much there was lists of high risk individuals all marked as war criminals most were executed when America came in and raided their camps and bases. All nazi officals and criminals of war were executed on spot when found (soldiers arrested). So even making that argument is stupid because it's actually illegal to be a Nazi in Germany. Any Nazi flags are banned in Germany and idealizing Nazi's is warranted for arrest. America is actually the main issue with what is what we call Nazi's today which are Neo-Nazis new age new generation of Nazi's fueled on outdated toxic and politically unjust mindsets of setting standards that a white male with blue eyes and blonde hair is the superior human and sadly that stance still exists because fucked people raised fucked children that found hitlers ideology. I myself would be seen as superior by that mindset and it digusts me because my family is from Germany originally and fought against Germany in ww2. I still have my great grandfathers gas mask. The hardships the German people faced should have died when that war ended not for some sick individuals to think was good enough to bring into the 21st century in a new country.

Same here. My father was (Is, once you are you never aren't) a Marine. He was a marine for 11 years and then in the air Force for another 11 and now secret service for the past 30 years. So needless to say I grew up in a military home and time's weren't always great, But my dad definitely is instilled everything he learned into me and my older brothers (Youngest of 3 boys) and I can't even put to words how proud and thankful for him I am and the US military because that was his only real father figure.
This video always hits me so hard because the stats are so true, I've grown up always asking "Why hasn't Uncle 'PutNameHere'?" And him an my mother would always tell us some story of where they are and not let us know that they were homeless and then only a few days/weeks/months/years later we are at a funeral for them and it's always heart breaking, you never get use to losing someone, especially to suicide; when the thing that they did wrong in their life seems to be signing up to help protect our country. It's never fair... But neither is life.
This video always reminds me of that and always brings me to tears. This is the first time I've actually seen a veteran react to it though. And I really hope he dose what he said "I need to do something" every little bit of help is needed to help our soldiers to get back on their feet once they get home, and keep them on their feet.

What if they never made it home” and that really hits hard. I’m thankful for the veterans that have served and our brothers and sisters and mothers and even fathers who are still out there fighting for our country. Any military should come first including the vets. But those are my thoughts.

I weep for all of my brothers and sisters who hold the burden in.. my family tree is littered with WW2, Vietnam, Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield memories. Thanking a veteran sometimes triggers and let your eyes be the judge before you react. Veterans should never ever have to worry about a home, worry about their family, worry period. I can't listen to this song or watch the video without crying, even now. As a veteran, I have been several statics that they state in this video, and it pains me to see that nothing is being done to improve this. 5FDP has always supported the troops and they have helped me through some tough times. Check out their cover of "Gone Away" (originally by The Offspring. They have a great way of painting a visual image of someone who suffers with loss and PTSD in that video. I can attest. Patriotism is very trendy it seems, and it appears that the trend wore off around 2010. I joined in September of 2000, and was med out in 2009. Almost half way there. The VA has gotten better since Trump has taken over, but they still have a long way to go. Thank you all for your service brothers! No civilian will ever understand. I was on the streets for 2 years ending 2019. I met so many vets out there. The worst story I have was this one man, Vietnam veteran, staying in the same shelter. One leg was amputated below the knee, one hand was missing, blind in one eye. He started getting rot in his amputation. Went to the hospital, came back, went back to the hospital, came back. Then the rot started in his remaining foot.
Short story, they ended up amputating that foot. Finally, after all that horseshit over the course of a year, he got housing in a home.
He and another vet, good friend of mine, were in that shelter for almost 10 years off and on.

He never had severe issues and would never seek assistance because he felt since he wasn't infantry and was stationed at a base others deserved the help and he didn't. He finally listened to us a few years ago and joined a local veterans group and began going to the VA. It turned out many medical problems he had were likely from being exposed to Agent Orange just from being in country, especially the area he was stationed. Now he wishes he had gone years ago, but is thankful he eventually did decide to go.

As a veteran this song is very moving to me. Last night I saw this band in concert with another veteran from a group on Facebook we had never met before, both of us have P.T.S.D. and have contemplated "checking out early". He made a post on the page that he really wanted to go to the show but has issues with crouds and basically needed a "battle buddy". So I got in touch with him and we procured tickets from VetTix and I made the hour and a half trip down to meet up with him and drive him to the event. We got along great, had an awesome time at the show and I picked us both up a shirt. Funny thing, was I took my old lady with and on the way told her that with this day and age you never know what's going to happen, so be prepared, pay attention and if anything goes down that this is what she needed to do. On the other hand, the other vet's daughter was continually checking up on him for the same reasons and we got a kick out of it... Some habits die hard and always covering your 6 just doesn't seem to leave you, along with that attention to detail by being hyper-aware of your surroundings. It takes just one friend... One person can change the entire world for someone, I have and continue to strive to be that person for someone - everyone I can. Most don't understand what we go through, blind understanding can help immensely, true understanding can move mountains. Look for the signs, not everyone needs hospitalized, granted some do, but mostly a friend with an ear and no judgement works wonders, be that friend, be that person for that someone, anyone. BTW that group is called the Disgruntled Veterans, check it out brother, it's a place to vent, talk crap, reach out and connect with like-minded people, they also have a charity called the vets ranch that helps homeless and/or addicted vets get clean, housed and back to working learning a new trade if necessary on the ranch as well as getting healthy mentally and physically with the goal to re-enter society as a functional and productive person with the skills to cope and "fit in" rather than fall to pieces, brothers helping brothers (sisters too). It's a great community even just in it's online presence, helped alot of people, myself included. I fully support the cause and they can use any and all help, even if it's just joining the group and lending an ear when someone reaches out on a post, plus we share some funny $h1t on there too. Thanks guys, keep it up and sorry I went on forever.

I just came across your videos this morning by chance and I love it. I am a disabled veteran. Thank you Stan for your service. One of the reasons FFDP is so big on veterans is because 2 of the band members have dads who are veterans plus they love this country, obviously. Keep up the great work!

This song puts it in perspective of the struggles that our vets go through when they come home from a war. My grandfather was a vet in the army and my father actually did 2 tours in Vietnam. He almost died by getting shot in the back twice and catching malaria while there. It breaks my heart that all these vets are fighting in a war to keep us safe but yet are treated very poorly when they come home. Most people don't even realize that when these vets come home most will suffer from what is now called PTSD but back then it was called 'Shell shock', I know my father suffered from it but he had the support of family to help him through it but a lot of soldiers didn't receive anything.

I'd been wondering when someone was going to do a video like this, having a veteran reacting to this song
Stan's reaction pretty much sums it all up
I thank you for your service Stan

I've had many family members and friends who've served throughout all the armed services.
Those who were in combat...every single one of them were screwed up in one way or another.
My husband went in the Marines in the early 70's and fortunately never saw combat.
In his early 20's he became a Machinist and has worked for the last 40 years doing so.
He worked for years machining and installing the Rhino Clad that enclosed the Humvees to protect soldiers from IED's.
He's machined the 5 inch barrels for Naval ships.
He's now machining the propulser parts for our nuclear submarines to maintain their stealth.
He loves what he does and loves that he's doing his SMALL part of helping our soldiers stay as safe as possible.
He's going to be retiring within two years and the company he works for can NOT find people with the experience to do the work he does.
He's constantly trying to train people to relieve the pressure of being one of the few that are doing this work.
He's told the guy he's training now that he's being trained to replace him so he's hoping he'll step up and work harder to learn.
If veterans need something to keep them feeling like they're still helping their Brothers, machinst training needs them!
There are many companies that need qualified and skilled machinists to keep our military operating at it's highest level.
My husband already knows when he retires that he'll be retained as a consultant because the shortage is that serious!
My heart goes out to all those who never made it home alive.
To those who made it back alive but feel as if they have no home to come back to...just know that there are many of us that feel America is more your home than ours.
You fought for that right and deserve to be treated like the heroes you are.

BOTH of my sisters married into the military, one of which was in the army, THANKFULLY all three have come back. I commend the band for backing and bringing attention to the dismay that many veterans are faced with.

I am a US Navy vet and I was fortunate to receive a college education using my vet benefits. Was able to get a good job, buy a home and give my sons a decent life. This song tears me up and I cry every time I hear it. To all vets and current enlisted, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love of our country. You are all heros. USA should do more for it's protectors! 💕🇺🇸💕🙏💕
