    @Zee, thanks my friend for the nice comments about the illustrations :) YeaAAahhh... I'm growing up :) And, yes, I'm working on the expansion right now :)
    @people who prefer the old version of the illustrations... I'm very very surprised !! At the time, 10 yeras ago.. .We heared a lot of critics concerning the cartoonish aspect of my work... It was a choice from both designers and myself.. But a lot of people considered Mr Jack theme has to be treated serisouly and dark... I'm surprised and pretty glad you liked my very old work :) But, please.. Seriously... The old board ?? It's so ugly !! SooOOoo ugly !! It's like 4 or 5 years I'm waiting to have a chance to re do it :)
    Thanks to all of you anyway :)

      Put me in in the camp that loves the new artwork, Piero. But the old one was not ugly. :) Just different. I also like the way you aged the characters in this one a little bit.

      I agree that old one was looking too cartoony, but maybe new one is a bit too dim.

    Played this for the first time on Saturday. We only played one game. What I really appreciated of the game was the time I spent over the weekend thinking about what both myself and the other player could have done differently. Really a quick, easy to set up, but with mitigating strategy. Ja, think it must be added ;)

    I wish they'd used actual cards for the player and alibi cards instead of cardboard. Over time the cardboard gets dinged and scuffed, cards could've been put into sleeves to protect them.

    I'm a newer gamer but LOVE Mr. Jack. Does anyone have any suggestions of similar two-player games? I love the artwork, the theme, the relatively short amount of time it takes to play, and the light strategy component.

      Should check out Raptor. Same game designer. Also 2 players.

      That's so funny! Last week, I went to a venue that had over 500 games folks could choose from to play. After perusing all of them, I chose Raptor knowing absolutely nothing about it. You're right. It was great! I'll look up more Bruno Cathala games now. Thanks!

      There is also Mr. Jack Pocket, which is the only one I have played. Very simple version. I haven't tried Onitama yet, but Dice Tower Three (Tom, Zee, Sam) love it!

    i've never played a hidden movement, deduction game, but am planning on getting one. Should i get letters from whitechapel, fury of dracula 3rd edition, specter ops, or Mr. Jack revised edition? i'm not that into specter ops theme

    • @suckazz97
      @suckazz97 Před 8 lety

      This is definitely the simplest of those four games you've listed. It would be a good one to start with. I thought Letters From Whitechapel went too long and wasn't that great, but some love it. I haven't played the other two, but I know they are more complex than this.
      And a simpler, streamlined version of this game is Hurrican's Phantom of the Opera, which is also quite fun.

      @FreakinFred08 Před 8 lety

      I haven't played any of the games you mentioned, but I did want to point out that Mr. Jack is for only 2 players while Letters goes up to 6. That might help you decide. Also, I like to look at customer comments on Amazon to see the general appeal before I buy. Good luck!

    _(frowns)_ Hmm. I see that, if Zee set the pieces up correctly, Miss Stealthy can no longer escape on turn 2. Originally, she was where Watson (the brown piece at the bottom) now is, meaning that, if Jack wasn't seen on turn 1, she could have moved 4 squares to escape.

    • @hoodaguy
      @hoodaguy Před 8 lety +1

      Stealthy and Watson have been switched in the new version.

    indeed, I find that the game is a little unbalance. jack is much more difficult to play. but, it is also more pleasant so it's even more satisfying when you win. I think I buy the new version just for the artwork that is really better. thanks for the video ;)

    I never played Mr. Jack. But just looking at it, I much prefer the look of the old board.

      I have the new board in front of me and I think it's a big improvement both in form and function: the atmosphere is darker and more sinister, and it allows the tokens to pop so that it's easier to discern the paths and possibilities. Nice improvement!

    I'm definitely interested in this game, but I always felt it was a tad bit overpriced, for what you receive. Not to mention The expansion/extension literally only adds five new characters and goes for almost as much as the base game, and everyone usually recommends it. I was hoping with this reprint they would've integrated the extension into this one with the new artwork.
    But who am I kidding, Hurrican is owned by Asmodee, the company who wants to buy out every board game publisher in existence(they just acquired ZMAN and Plaid Hat). I'll wait till a Black Friday/Clearance Sale from MM on this one for the time being.
