This was very helpful. Have a 2013 with 2.0L and have had intermittent starting problems. Replaced ground cable and all was fine temporarily. After a few months it would just click, click when trying to start. Replaced battery as it was on its last leg but didn't solve the problem. After removing the relay as you suggested I used a jumper wire and it started right up. Cleaned the connections and seems to be fine now. Keeping fingers crossed.
I have a 2013 dart at 240,000kms it just went click click click,I checked fuses and relays and thought the starter was bad, upon checking the positive and ground wire I found the ground wire had broken off the Transmission, repaired the old wire and added a second ground cable from the Transmission to the battery, problem solved, now the dart has 472,000kms on it,great car and going for more🏁
@@610misael yes,I fixed the original cable and made a new cable from the Transmission to the battery, no more ground problems,we now have 514,000kms on the dart, the original drive train is still in the car!🏁
While I still don't know why my Dart won't start normally (new battery, starter, alternator, and now new fuses/relays as indicated), the "short-to-start" trick at the end of this video was a lifeline and is now how I start my car normally (with a hidden switch in the cabin that makes this same circuit. Will be just using this method till even that stops. Thanks.
@@opal6110 Thanks for that suggestion too, but I also replaced the ground connection (ran a fat cable from negative terminal all the way directly to the alternator). I just forgot to mention it in my original post.
So does that mean the bottom relay is bad? I got it to start the way you did with direct power from the battery. I usually have to start the car by priming the starter, turning the key back and forth.
I have a 2013 Dodge Dart 1.4l turbo, it was running fine then it died down like the battery was drained until the battery was dead. I put a new battery in and it was turning over but not starting. Someone installed a ‘kill switch’ which is connected to the two red wires that go to the harness on the top left of the hoods fuse box that’s not identified in the manual. I tried to remove it and possibly touched the two red wires to the kill switch together. The dash gauges didn’t light up, but the locks worked so it still recognized the key, but when I came back the next day now the key dosnt even seem to do anything. The battery has a full charge but it’s not doing anything. Could this possibly be the key went bad cause the fob buttons already didn’t work and when I opened it up it was completely filthy (I cleaned but no change). Or could one of the relays went? What is the RUN relays exactly?
Ok so I've tried all you suggested with no luck.. I've already checked the ground wire and it's good... It's done this before and I was able to hit the relays and it fire up but not this time.. Any suggestions??
That video was helpful. What type of wire was that? If I try that and it doesn’t start does that mean my starter is bad? My car won’t start and I tested the battery with a multimeter and it was 12.47, the lights work, radio comes on. I will check the fuses tomorrow but any advice for me? Thanks
Yes the same problem with my 2013 Dart. John Hughes daughter in the mechanic with put it in because he said it was reading the battery was at fault. I places the battery 2 years ago. I got a new alternator put in last year at this time. I checked the fuses and they seemed to be okay connect not a broken fuse is still good. I'm going to look some more before I order another starter. If you find out let me know.
When I go to start a 2016 Dodge dart when I turn the key is not cranking but it just makes like a wheezy sound it wants to crank lightly but then the weezy sound comes on.? What you think

I have a 2013 Dodge Dart SXT…. I’ve had my startled, alternator checked and theirs nothing wrong. Also just brought a new battery recently but when I start the car all I get is clicking noises. All the lights and radio will come on but not sure why the car want start unless I keep turning the car on and off until it actually start running. I also had the positive battery tunnel replace and not sure why it’s still giving me this issue. I can use the box to turn the car on or just a regular key and it does the same thing
Check the negative ground wire, it runs from the engine to the body of the car to the battery. Check from under the car, batter side, they get corroded. Remove it, clean it & then start the car.
Hey Brother, Great video here and the other ones for the dodge dart. i got this 2014 dart that sometimes turns over and sometimes when i turn to start just draws powers and does not turn over. ive checked fuses and new battery. my guess is relay, does it makes a difference if its the 1C7T relay or 1A7T relay?
How do you know that it is drawing power when it's not turning over? It the battery voltage drops but the engine does not turn over then the problem could be with the starter itself.

Awesome! I was able to figure out which fuse was bad and fixed the problem with the starter. Thanks!!
What if it won't start while providing power to the starter?
What happens if it turns over in the on position but doesn’t run ?
What happens if when u touch the wire to bypass the relays..u only hear a click, and then after 30 try’s it turns on?

Hi, good video keep up the nice work. So if you start it that way, it means your starter is good? Maybe a bad ground wire?
