  • A few errors from the overproduced era of cards. 1990 Donruss doesn't hold a lot of value and these errors can purchased for a low price.

    Great video! I remember when this set came out. Everyone went crazy trying to find the dozens of error cards. Beckett listed a lot of them in 1990 as errors were found. As you say, so many had errors that they only list the valuable ones in the guide now.

    Hey bro thanks for the vid.. do you know about the error on the back of those cards. Take a look at some doubles which im sure you have and you will notice that some of them have a little dot or period at the end of INC. And some do not. (Top right corner). Im pretty sure this is also considered a common error. Check it out.

    As a 60 year old I also stopped buying in 1991. I will say with the no dot after INC I pulled out some better players after 30 years Mark Grace, Larry Walker, Puckett etc etc. and of 8 Grace cards 1 was no dot after INC same goes with Walker and the rest. So yes fewer were made with no dot after INC probably 12 percent, BUT yes so many produced doesn't justify what people are asking.

      I've never heard a blankback compared to an empty soda can. LOL. That judgment may be a bit harsh. I like blankbacks. But any junk wax blankbacks are only worth a buck or two. Hah I have a bunch of John Elway too no where near the Ryans. But I hit an Emmit Smith Upperdeck insert card in a pack, when he was at his peak. It was the special where they cut away like a half circle at the top and left the corners..anyway it booked at $120 and some dude gave me 90 cash for it at a show. I actually love this set. The regular 716 card set has so many errors and variations. I see you don't mention anything about Factory set variations in the Donruss videos, as several years have them. With all the dot, no dot variations along with the "paint drop" patterns differing with the factory set versus packs, there are a total of 2171 (plus 1 card I've been trying to find that isn't known but I suspect exists) documented cards for the regular set. I have 2155 of them. There are also undocumented versions of most cards that have the black lines on the front that slightly go through the name. I don't count those. In addition, the 12 Grand Slammers that came in rack packs have 145 paint splotch known variations. These are extremely difficult to acquire. I've only gotten 48 so far. The 26 Bonus MVP + the Glavine/Smoltz error (27 total) each have a no dot version for a total of 54. Also, don't forget the 21 card Yastrzemski puzzle each has a dot and no dot version with 43-45 having a 3rd variation with only 1 dot for a total of 43 total variations. Good luck if you're trying to build the master set like I am.

      This video is my most viewed. And I made it when I was just launching this channel. I'd like to delete it and completely redo the 90 Donruss video. I don't think I will be deleting them, though, because of how popular they are. I did make a part 2, and another "double front" video. There is so much info on this set that if I made 1 huge video, it be long and I'd still miss info.
      That's an impressive endeavor to build a master set. It looks like you are almost there. It gets a little expensive finding each one I'm sure. Are you going for the "aqueous test" cards also? Thanks for commenting!

I wasn't sure if a specific player would have those variations or if the variation was with different players, meaning there would be nothing else for me to search for. The missing dot after INC was obvious but I wasn't able to find the other 2. The best I could come up with is I was researching 89 Donruss. The 89 Donruss has the double asterisk issue and it is extremely common.
      The 89 Donruss has the MLB logo in different positions. When the MLB logo is in the lower position, it creates a gap between the white box and the first line of the "Contract status" line. This ebay listing shows the 1st card has the gap, and the other 2 don't: www.ebay.com/itm/155089876222?itmmeta=01HPX9Q03ESF0F89XXAJF8SA82&hash=item241c13b4fe:g:YtwAAOSwHjdi3WMP&itmprp=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4FMjvKKoN7IVVOcybRxUYd8sYvzM7jFoyTudsCaPedUX7nfT9UBEdCEXS5njDv4qHHopRfnI51EIp7uQRk6F9jQYTWuwYWrUU6PmN4w04XphD1LyGV%2BIgXA8VMfazVOEiG2HOLrlBKPpFspfK2iUyKvz5tbSI7O0k3U6upEG1am5j0Dw8wsp%2BG8dlTmyUJ96QTvd5k%2Ff09icfkjAXnT5F5i6ABBmgSpDDeWSqcTi4fxKkTqmc0IuUgXGhYk8QHhZ5dotHjAjW176zDU0nxtq9G%2BXlzWhiNNp3kpP2CjvziSF%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-aB3Km3Yw

      With Frank Thomas being my favorite player at the time I traded a 90 Leaf rookie for 2 no name on front 90 Topps. I stopped collecting because of that era. Don’t recall the year but I had 2 very very nice Nolan Ryan rookie cards. They were $1200 then is that gives you a time frame.

      I'm assuming you mean 1990, not '89. Both of your issues sound a little like print defects. I am not familiar with either one being an actual error or variant. If it is just a print defect, it isn't going to fetch you too much. Don't take my word for it though. You can check sold listings on Ebay. If you got time, I'd like to see a photo of both your Ryan and Sandberg cards. My email is Zagarfarts@yahoo.com. Thnx for the comments.

      @Hungryman97sCollectibles  Před 2 lety

      Grab a handful for 90 Donruss and you'll find the missing dot is extremely common. Sellers on ebay are trying to make money off this hoax. I made a video about it. The Nolan Ryan is interesting. I haven't heard of that particular card having lines through the star. If I recall, only the Harold Baines AS was known for that error. That would be a cool card to hang on to. You could post it on Ebay but maybe wait a few months for the "no dot after inc" auctions to die down.

    Putting the picture of the wrong hall of famer card with another hall of famer I think is a major error. If you attend card convention there is a abotance of sixty and seventy cards, So I don't agree that these cards aren't worth much because a lot were printed, just my opinion

I think these hobby is like cocaine its more for the rich them big companies is like a Mandela effect and ruined any kind of profit for ones time and money those errors are worse than the bill Ripken bogarity maybe not the Puckett but Tom Glavine as john smolts and unless Juan Gonzales is a switch hitter they need to make him appear as he bats or return some pols money by owning up to there errors I thought the game of baseball was the American sport and that America builds everything perfect but when errors are made cover there mistakes smh
