Bagraim: ANC’s threat to estate agents via BEE ownership an election ploy, unconstitutional

  • The DA’s shadow minister of labour Michael Bagraim says his party will fight the ANC-driven proposal that will force thousands of South African estate agents to hand over to new owners or close down their businesses. In this vibrant interview with BizNews editor Alec Hogg, Bagraim also discusses suggestions that the party’s weakening in the polls is directly correlated to a refusal to rule out a coalition with the ANC (as a ‘least worst’ option for SA after May 29.)

@@sizwenkosi8882 trying to equalise people just brings with it ineptitude and wide scale failure. There is no measure of equality, how do you measure it. For example, Once someone becomes a millionaire, they then are not equal to a billionaire, should they then complain about not being equal to the billionaire? No - that would be pathetic. This is not how a capitalistic (free enterprise) economy works. This rubbish about equality needs to stop. It’s not equality that needs to fixed, it’s poverty which needs to be addressed. To be honest we make sure to keep profits well in check.
I could expand, its a matter of bothering with large value tenders.

What's all this Guavament nonsense costing? Rather just take the money and give an applicant a R30k grant to buy an old skandonk, and a laptop. Atleast the ANC ended apartheid and now their Fighting for Economic participation of the African child so you cant say voetsekanc while you see others fighting to participate and being neglected while others are enjoying the fruits of racism. Theyve been in power for 30 years there are positives and theres more to come.

So tired of the WC being shoved down everyone’s throats! Gauteng has never historically or presently be WC thank goodness…so using the DA formula to win the hearts of Gauteng is the tone deafness…

If you factually examine who does the bulk of property sales and legal transfers , its very clear that the property industry has refused to transform to allow Black owned estate agencies and Legal Firms of colour opportunities for growth.
White control persists. Estate agencies are dominated by white agents who support established White Law firms for bonds and conveyancing transfers. BANKS continue to support large White Law Firms and ignore transformation. Firms of colour are limited to low hanging fruit on Bank legal panels. Large White Corporates & Developers dictate to Banks who chase profits not a healthy equitable society. TRANSFORMATION DEFINITELY NEEDED IN THIS INDUSTRY !
