I actually paid a little more to get custom cut moissoite side stones in my engagement ring because I think they're prettier. My main stone is a sapphire and I like that moissanites reflect more blue light
My husband bought me a 4ct moissanite in my favorite color! He NEVER tried to say it was a diamond. I knew what it was when he proposed and I still LOVE it❤
Love moissanite, its ethical, its more affordable, and its durable, but Lab Grown Diamonds or natural diamonds still have that beautiful ICEY look to them. Also diamonds have sharper facets that beautifully slice the light across your eye. Moissanite is close but not all the way there.

@@beartutor3377 - I’m not knocking Moissanite. Trust me. I’ve bought alot of Moissanite jewelry so I have plant of experience with it. Moissanite and Lab Grown Diamonds are both fantastic. I’m just saying I like Lab grown diamond just a tiny bit more. The first moissanite I bought was 10 years ago. 1 carat earrings. (Charles and Colvard). Since then, I bought a beautiful 2 carat Moissanite engagement ring for my ex Charles and Colvard also. After that. @@beartutor3377Perhaps its all in the head. If diamonds werent as popular and its our first time seeing both a diamond and moissanite we'd just mistake them for being the same.
An elongated cushion cut doesn't necessarily cause the difference in appearance. Natural Moissanite and zirconia actually only exists in the space. Only lab-created one does exist on the earth. It’s a little contradictory but I’m kinda glad it’s more affordable.😂
Both have been found on Earth but in very rare circumstances. Moissanite can exist in the mantle through lamproites and kimberlites. Also known as being major sources of diamond. Makes sense when you consider the temperature and pressures down there, and the silicon and carbon content. I've just recently bought some kimberlite, but I don't know whether I'm lucky to receive any diamond/other gemstones of interest on it yet. Cubic Zirconia is even rarer in natural circumstances. But has been found to exist in tiny quantities in metamict zircon. I also own a piece of Cyrtolite Zircon, which is high in Uranium and Thorium and therefore metamict. Metamict means the Zircon is unstable due to the radioactivity destroying the structure. This must also contribute to the rare formation of cubic zirconia in some samples.
Nothing wrong with lab created gemstones. Lab diamonds are the EXACT SAME as natural diamonds chemically. Also, many people like the extra fire and brilliance of moissanites. Some don't and that's fine.

The double refractions is what makes it look like that if I’m thinking right. With the double refractions from moissanite the lines of the facet show as a double even though it was one cut. Whereas diamonds are a single refraction so the lines are super crisp and don’t do that “doubling” so you can fit more facets. but the double refraction is what gives that brilliance and sparkle to the moissanite. So with that elongated cushion cut it’s kinda a give and take as it’s a little harder to get a perfect cut on moissanite Hope that helped
It also makes a difference in cut because the bottom one looked a lot more like a crushed diamond or even a radiant cut but it also does what the other person said
I don't disagree with the abuse of children mines, but sadly, in countries like these that employ children, the only alternatives are that the children are used in the drug and human trafficking trades. Since I have little to no control over the situation, to me, the lesser of the evils is digging for diamonds. These children should be in school, but no one from those countries allows that option or asked for my opinion.
I compared moisannite and a diamond at a very good jewelers and the mois had a slightly green gray color to it compared to a diamond. If you don't want to pay for a diamond, you should get a high quality CZ. It is cheaper than mois. One way to tell the difference is to get them dirty from body oil and flaked skin and other stuff. A diamond will still sparkle, the mois and CZ will lose sparkle when the crown and pavilion is dirty.
Moisanite won’t loose its sparkle. Cz is very soft and will scratch and get dull. Moissanite wont. Mois is harder than sapphire at a Mohs 9.25 while sapphire is a 9. To put that into perspective diamond is a 10 and CZ is a mere 8. Trust me you will never scratch or dull a Mois.

You should compare both stones in person instead of judging from photos. Both gorgeous in their own right. I honestly prefer the color and double refraction of moissy but of course the more black & white single refraction of diamonds has its devotees for sure.
Moissanites are not diamonds like natural diamonds or lab grown diamonds which are real diamonds. Moissanites are a different type of stone which is a cheaper alternative to diamonds.

You should only get a real diamond if that's what she wants. The point is, you shouldn't lie I would much prefer Moissanite or another stone to be honest
Diamonds are actually pretty common. It's like a Gucci thing where you're basically buying a dried piece of old cow skin but more expensive because its a Gucci. Diamonds are even hard to pawn, most pawnshops only buy the gold content and dont want to bother with assessing the diamond. Even more so since lab grown diamonds are 10-20x cheaper so you could've bought a mined one but due to the price of lab grown and the assessor not being able to tell the difference between mined and lab grown, they just go with the gold content.
Nah you right. It’s broke people mentality to say moissanites are better than diamonds. That’s how I know most people ain’t actually owned a diamond in their life and if they do it’s because it’s hard for them to afford it so they resort to cheaper = better mentality 😂
It’s not a “fake copy” lol. That’s like saying an emerald or a ruby is a “fake”. It’s just a white toned gemstone that’s functionally as durable as a diamond. If you want to pay $$$$ on an immediately depreciating, ethically dubious stone then go for it but don’t be a hater 😂
You were not looking at a really fine diamond. The cut, clarity, color of a diamond all effect the sparkle and fire of a diamond. If you have a lower quality diamond, like poorly cut, eg, the girdle is too thick/thin, or the stone is cut too shallow/deep, then it may not look as fiery or sparkle as much as a mois. Have your jeweler show you a mois and a diamond of the comparable color grade, then add one of a high color grade. You can see the difference.
