I haven’t given the Sodor & Mainland Railway much thought yet for my headcanon; been focusing more on the other two, especially the Wellsworth & Suddery Railway. Currently I’m thinking that only the two Manning Wardle tank engines (named Charles and William) make it all the way to the present day, while the Sharp Stewart perished in a horrible accident. As for the Tidmouth, Knapford & Elsbridge Light Railway: besides the Coffee Pots, there’s at least one engine that was purchased from another railway, a North Eastern Railway Class O 0-4-4T who primarily worked in the docks and freight yard at Tidmouth and occasionally ran down to Knapford. Interesting idea about Emily. She’s definitely old enough to be something the pre-NWR railways might’ve wanted to own, so that’s a very natural way to retcon her in.
Really interestong that NWR was formed from the grouping act. My AU stayed with the canon of NWR formed in 1914, though would later be grouped with the LMS in 1923
Also the S&M went from Kirk Ronan to Vicarstown. The NWR later in 1925 made an agreement with the LMS so the NWR could go to Barrow and the LMS could go to Norramby. Not trying to be rude just saying. :)

quick correction: a dean goods could not have been purchased by the S&M in 1883, as the class was built in 1899
