    Jezza Kinship Well:
    $8,336.71 raised!!!
    $1,663.29 to go!
    Please donate, and then also share the donation page! Thank you!
    We just need that last little bit for the rain water collection barrels and the pump. Thank you all so much for continuing to spread the word, and for all of you who have donated. You're changing the world for these kids in Jezza!
    100,000 Steps walked on August 31, 2018.
    That's 43.2 miles.
    It took me 17 hours.
    I did it fasted. (Last meal Thursday at 6:30pm. Started walking 12 am on Friday, had 2 cups of coffee with a couple table spoons of half and half in each).
    It was much harder than I thought it'd be. My body was screaming at me by the end! Totally worth it to get this well dug for the widows and orphans of Jezza Kinship in Uganda.
    We're getting there one step a time!
    Thank you so much for donating!! $5, $10, $25 or ANY amount is CRUCIAL!!!
    Please continue to share!
    BACKSTORY
    I'm going to break my personal best for steps (currently 40,000) by walking 100,000 steps in a single day. And to keep myself accountable, I decided give myself an additional challenge. My favorite charity, Kinship United, who brings together widows and orphans in a kinship home to promote healing, told me about the Jezza Kinship. The orphans there have to walk 6 miles a day to get water. They need a well and 2 rain water collection barrels, and that's going to take $10,000. My goal is to have that money raised, and my 100,000 step personal best finished by August 31 at midnight. We can baby step our way there, one small donation at a time.
    I'm going to be getting my 100,000 steps in on August 31 in Omaha, Nebraska. I'll be going live on my social media accounts, including this channel, throughout the day to provide updates, and to do live Q&As about intermittent fasting, walking, and weight loss motivation.
    Thank you for donating!

    So how does kinship united cover their overhead costs if not through the donations they receive?

    1000 steps takes about ten minutes. 100,000 steps takes 16.66 hours non-stop. I'd plan on staying up for 24 hours for this challenge. You go girl!!

      @livechilllife Před 5 lety +1

      That Said I’m calculating it to be about 14 hours. Maybe I walk faster

    • @SixMilesToSupper
      @SixMilesToSupper  Před 5 lety

      Thanks That Said! My plan is to get up by 4 am on Friday and go from there. I think I'll be nervous/excited about the fundraising side of it, and probably will walk faster some of the time. But you're right, I generally get about 1000 steps per 10 minutes. So it's gonna be a day full of walking. I have no idea how exhausting or easy it will be. It's one big experiment!

      @@SixMilesToSupper I think what you are doing us great. It'll be a great experience for you and doing something good in this world too. My suggestion is to research fat adaptation. Many elite athletes attribute their superb performance by being fat adapted. I have a funny feeling once you become fat adapted you'll want to stay fat adapted.

    • @SixMilesToSupper
      @SixMilesToSupper  Před 5 lety +1

      Hmm, perhaps you can explain how you define fat adapted. I'm in a fasted state, my energy levels are fantastic, and I'm losing weight. My body, I would think, is burning my fat as its main energy source.

    • @matthewdetras965
      @matthewdetras965 Před 5 lety

      Your body stores roughly about 2,000-2,500 grams of glycogen. So it's about 1-2 days your glycogen levels will be depleted if you consume no carbs. Even if you fast for 23 hours your body still hasn't used up all of its glycogen stores. Ever heard the term "hitting the wall"? Well it references the body's depletion of its glycogen stores and the body isn't adapted to burning its own body-fat. Most people find by dramatically reducing carbs and increasing fat to be a great way to become fat-adapted. It will take a few days to happen. Once it happen people may feel like they are getting sick. This is normal and will go away in 24-36 hours. After that you will be fat-adapted and will feel absolutely wonderful. There are urine test strips to detect keytones in the urine to show you how much ketosis you are in. It's a really interesting subject and lots of videos about it on Utube.
