He's an autistic surgeon, this is an example of a sensory overload.
@@RaghgghhhaaahhhhhhasIt means all of his five senses are taking in more information then the brain can process,
His not having a sensory overload he found another way to do it’s
In this scene he realized that the patient needs a more serious surgery which they can’t do because it’s a new kind of surgery that a Japanese surgeon came up with that he’s been studying but can’t do
@@Raghgghhhaaahhhhhhasit means he shouldn’t be doing this job.
@@RaghgghhhaaahhhhhhasBasically the stuff that is normally alright suddenly feels overwhelming and too much.
there was actually something wrong with the patient that only shawn (dr murphy) saw that meant they couldn’t do the operation but the realisation panicked him and he couldn’t explain what was wrong because of the stress and obviously sensory overload coming from the fact he has autism and couldn’t get the words out and explain what was upsetting him
Yes you are right
Not exactly, it wasn't so much that there was anything wrong, it was that the original plan would have resulted in the patient never being able to eat solid food again, but because the area affected was slightly less than what they saw in the studies there was another option. This option was something he couldn't do since it required a more experienced doctor to pull it off, so he is upset because his first surgery as lead surgeon is something he can't do without compromising the quality of life of the patient.
He shouldn’t be doing this job. It’s a show though.
Thank you this helps clarify a lot 😊
@@imatiugod that is too real. Especially when that realization is something that big. Watching this, I felt exactly what he's feeling, I know it too well. You just.. shut down trying to explain. Lmao I'm even having it a bit now trying to explain it 😅
I do like the fact that he did try to help by asking what’s wrong and asking him what he sees
Yeah that was a good, non judgemental response.
@@SimsinWonderland I've gotten so used to seeing and responding that way that I forgot a lot of ppl aren't as kind or considerate.

I really like that the other doctor was genuinely trying to help. Like, he asked "what's wrong?", instead of being insensitive about it, cause he knew SOMEHTHING was wrong but he didn't know what. He was kind about it : )
Me to
Bro watch it
The real story is that the main problem in the patient was different from what they thought earlier and dr shaun knew it which he declared he read about that in a Japanese medical procedure and acted in this way because he didn't know how to do that procedure to save the patient
It really hurts for a doctor to know one's problem but not having the Full knowledge of curing it inspite of knowing that it is curable... ❤
He didnt wanna hurt the patient with his meltdown so he rushed out of the room.. He was thinking of them when his autistic meltdown kicked in.
Actually he realized he couldn't do it because something else was wrong with the patient but he couldn't get words out because of his autism
Both wrong is crazy, he could do the planned surgery, but the surgery planned was ultimately not needed and from my understanding, he couldn't express that they needed a more experienced doctor
autistic meltdown is a weird way to put it
@@kyrsxnno its not weird. Its the exact name autistic meltdown.
I find it annoying how he’s amazing at his job, and literally the best doctor in there 99% of the time and everyone’s like “ omg he’s so amazing, he’s doing cool savant syndrome stuff” but the second he shows any signs of needing a little extra support or gets overwhelmed and has an autistic meltdown instead of thinking “ok he’s just upset he needs help right now” everyone is suddenly like “ ha! I Knew it! We should never have hired an autistic doctor, he can’t do anything right!” When he saved like 27 children dying of cancer a few minutes ago. Cut him some slack.
Edit: beware of the pricks in the comments, you have been warned, if you are a prick go away no one wants your opinion. When replying to this comment remember the rule of *if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all*
Edit 2: thanks for all the likes, I’m glad so many people agree with me. 😁
I hundred percent agree, it's so annoying. you can't just take a few negative instances and ignore all the positive ones.
and leaving a patient with an open stomach if you're trading 27 lives over 1 you're not suited to be a doctor, you're a capitalist!
I don’t think being a surgeon is a great career for someone who is autistic. It causes unwanted stress to the other doctors and surgeons and while he does save lives, it comes at a greater cost. Look at this scene for example, he freaks out because he saw something that the other surgeons didn’t and they try to ask him whats wrong and while hes freaking out there is a patient on the operating table. The surgeons are not equipped to handle an autistic person, they are there to operate
@@Jcv95 but most of the time he’s the best doctor in the place, just because once in a blue moon he gets overwhelmed ( which everyone does) doesn’t mean he can’t be good at that job, as an autistic person how they handle it doesn’t help either, if he’s upset then don’t shout and act panicked because it will stress him out more, speak to him calmly and he would probably calm down pretty quickly. If they can’t keep themselves together enough to do that for him then you can’t really say the Shaun has to be calm.
@@Razzy-Berry2 most of the time isn't good enough when he can have a mental breakdown anytime.
To be honest, if your mother having a heart transplant which doctor will you perfer, just a doctor or doctor who has a servant syndrome
even though he has autism, that doesn't mean he can avoid the responsibility of a doctor just like leaving the room during surgery.
+ even if you treat them well doesn't mean they will magically stop having a mental breakdown.
It could but not always. that's not how autism works.
He got upset because this was his first surgery that he was going to do, super excited for it, but when they got ready only Shaun seen that the original surgery wasn't needed but a specialty surgery that he couldn't perform. The specialty surgery would have made her life so much better, she was a chef and wouldn't have been able to taste food for the remainder of her life with the first one but could with the specialty bamboo surgery. He realized he could give that back to her.
That’s interesting

@@naylisyazwina6836it’s not his first he had surgeries but it was the first time he was the lead surgeon
I can feel the urgency in his voice and I have had multiple occurrences where i have had to explain something urgently but couldn't get the words out and reacted in the same way
This is a really good example of what happens when an autistic person gets a panic attack, if this was to occur in real life the best cause of action is send one resident probably a nurse to calm the doctor down and organise a way to get him home and find a second surgeon or cancel the surgery for that time till another surgeon is available.
That doesnt seem practical
@@sarahburggraf907 well autistic people tend to specialise in one or two areas really well but can't do many other fields of work. So even though there is the chance of panic attack occuring it's usually very low in the field they specialise in. So in most cases autistic works tend to catch on in their fields a lot faster which gives a higher chance of a better job.
But most companies take the same view of it is not practical because in the long run the autistic worker will tend to cost more overall
The best course of action is to dismiss him
Obviously this could never happen in real life but i do work on a surgical unit and this wouldnt be a big issue. We always have a designated second. Be it an OR nurse with further education, PA, or a second doctor. There is always someone to take over in case of emergency or just be a "second" set of hands.

“No”
He truly is a surgeon of all time
I have panic attacks so im assuming this was like an overload for him and his anxiety was causing like a panic attack. Im guessing.
Yes. He’s an autistic doctor and was too stimulated and had a sensory overload.
As an autistic person. Imagine you're out in a park. You can hear the children playing, you can hear a child crying, you can hear the parents talking, you can hear the car engines, you can even hear the slight whistle of a train. All of that in your ears all at once and the bright light from the sun and the breeze making things cold when you should be warm because of the sun, oh and the tag on your shirt, pants, your socks, your shoes. That's what of autistic people go through almost every day. Including myself. A small panic attack is very overwhelming because the world is already overwhelming and then you have tears on your cheeks, you can hear yourself crying, your heart pounding.
That's what most of us feel before and during a panic attack and it will cause sensory overload.
One of my sensory triggers is heat. If I'm too hot I hiccup and imagine the feeling of hickuping as well as being hot. I have sensory overload
@@weird_rubber_ducky-en6tm thank you so much for helping me understand. My son is on the spectrum and tags bother him and the top part of the sock that has the line has always been an issue. I try and be understanding and im glad you explained all of this for me.

FUN FACT.albert ainstine had this type of autism❤
Not true. He had asperger syndrome
This seems like it would be very problematic. He just took off his mask over the patient while yelling. I get that he is autistic, but what about keeping the surgery room sterile? What about if he freaks out like this during an important, delicate surgical procedure, he could kill someone, or put someone in some serious harm.

He is a surgeon but like the comment below me, he autism which is giving him an overload right now, usually he is very calm
Me personally i wouldn't let him work there not specifically cause he is neurodivergent but more or less because he is leaving in the middle of surgery
It was some type of sensory overload, he cant help it

Dr Murphy is AMAZING! I hate how whenever he has an autism meltdown or goes into sensory overload everyone is js like “Oh, I guess Shawn sucks” NO HE DOESNT! Savant syndrome is super rare! I’m autistic and I could never do half of the surgeon sh*t that he does
Shaun is like a app or a program, he is perfect in what his doing put is you give him a lot of information , hi blocks
A complicated matter. He knew there was something at the end of it, that's why he refused to make the operation without his own diagnostic preparation. That's why.
GUYS THE ACTOR ISNT AUTISTIC its just for his role in the series he spoke to autistic people and also watched documentary's and tried to basically act autistic for his role
This is why you let them play with tooth picks and let them be at peace
A surgeon has a meltdown like that, and his career is over on the spot. Even with perfect results by Doctor #2, the malpractice suit is going to be spectacular against both him and the hospital!
Bros boutta lose his medical license so fast💀💀💀
I don’t want to make fun of the guy, but man it’s funny when he says the first no, “no :/“. 😂❤
His co-workers don't know how to do a medical procedure, it was the only way to complete the surgery and he got really nervous. Man having this is good and bad at the same time
Dosent matter if he saves a billion lives. Fact of the matter is he's not fit to physically preform surgery. He can oversee surgery, or direct it but he should never be in anyone's guts.
How to actually help someone with sensory overload:
I think it’s absolutely ridiculous of how many ppl don’t want a autistic doctor to attend them bc they think that since they have a disability they are dump but the truth is that ppl with autism are equal if not, smarter then the average person it’s just that some times they can’t form some words or sentences for thing they see or feel. Plus do you really think they would let some one be a doctor if they are not qualified for the job. As a person that doesn’t have autism I could go take a test (or whatever it’s called) to become a doctor but I * obviously * would’ve not been qualified for being a doctor, so please just trust the doctor!!
That's the dumbest thing I ever heard, you really think you just have to take a test to be a doctor??
Who made him a surgeon , what if its a very crucial moment to operate , nobody can say that he wont run away or do something else
I definitely would trust him with my life, lol. Yeah let me just hang out here on the bed, comatose, with my organs hanging out while you leave the operating room.😂😂😂

Any doctor can be stressed at surgery dr Murphy can’t articulate what is wrong correctly he is a genius doctor
He had a sensory over load
Sensory overload is when your five senses - sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste - take in more information than your brain can process. When your brain is overwhelmed by this input, it enters fight, flight, or freeze mode in response to what feels like a crisis, making you feel unsafe or even panicky.
Dr han was right

Best surgeon in the entire building, people 👏👏👏👏👏 I'd start thinking about suing for malpractice before the anesthesia wore off
I mean he's the best doctor they got, he saves the amount of people per day that the rest of the hospital needs a week for
He's autistic tho and he never did the surgery he was to preform, other surgeons would have just said they can't do it and another surgeon should do it while he because of his autism had a meltdown because of the stress

Everyone's out here talking about the fact this is a sensory overload, but as an actually autistic teen I found this so funny. It's so overexaggerated. All the autistic people I've shown this to have said the same thing lmao
As an autistic person, I agree. The comments here are zhite ( somebody literally commented they missed when Hitler was getting rid of them, arguably a questionable statement ), but this doesn't feel accurate and I'm going to be honest I'm not feeling represented by this at all -^-

Me when they bring out the syerenge and say:

That last no was musical
See this scene doesn't even make sense to me. Apparently the reason why he said "I can't do this" is because he literally can't because he doesn't have the special machine(I think it was) but why is he making it such an emotional breakdown especially enough to leave the operation immediately, plus his breakdown leaves everyone else in confusion and no one knows that the patient needs the special treatment
It would SO help if THE SERIES EPISODE was included in these shorts.
