  • This video segment is from "Beyond Is Genesis History? Vol 2 : Life & Design," the follow-up to our feature-length film where we explore the impact of the global Flood on the Earth. Check it out on our website: bit.ly/BIGH-2.
In this video, engineer Stuart Burgess and Del Tackett explore how God designed different parts of the planet during the first four days of creation, including the irreducible complexity in many systems and materials.
After completing his PhD in the area of machine design, Dr. Stuart Burgess worked for the European Space Agency for five years mainly working on the ENVISAT earth observation satellite which is the largest earth observation civilian satellite in the world. He designed the solar array deployment mechanism including inventing a new type of gearbox - the double action worm gear set. He spent three years at Cambridge University as an Assistant Director of Research and Bye-Fellow of Selywn College. He led the design of the chain drive on the bicycles used by Team GB in the Rio Olympics where the cycling team won 6 gold medals and broke two world records. He has been at Bristol University since 1997 mainly working in the area of design optimization of mechanical systems and biomechanical systems.

as for stars, the stars actually declare god's plan of salvation to mankind. long before writing was invented, god told his story of salvation through the zodiac. according to mr. bullinger, the name of each star in the each zodiac stars have names that declare that story. why do you think pleiades and orion are known to job? these names were known by ancient civilizations. of course, as he is wont to do, the devil misappropriated the zodiac for astrological purposes which god condemns.

Not only is how God created the earth important, but what He created and that He used His creation to showcase and give visual meaning to His promises! Such as my favorite example, "I will remove thy transgressions from thee as far as the east is from the west! An infinite visual as east and west going away from each other! Not possible on a spinning ball! East is never far away from west on a ball. Not much of a promise, and not an example of Gods creation. Satan's evolutionary liars, NASA, would like you to believe this as his first deceitful comment to Eve was, "hath God said."
Also, water always finds its level, sea level. Polaris also never moves. The firmament is described in the Bible as like glass. The sun and moon move in their courses in the sky. He held the sun in the sky, not held the earth still, because the earth is set on pillars that it moveth not! The opening shot in this video showed the flat landscape. What every creationist apparently fails to recognise, is that they are using circular reasoning and _begging the question_ in referring to the existent natural universe, we are all a part of, as "creation". They are beginning with with an assumption (creation) which is then being used to smuggle in the concept of a creator. There is no reason to refer to the universe, or nature, or even existence itself, as _"creation",_ unless this is demonstrable.
The problem too, is that even _IF_ it were possible to demonstrate the Universe were a created thing, that can only bring us to a generic "creator", and it is still taking a huge non-sequitur to get to any quite specific God that any creationists believe in.

My personal reasons come from Science, Philosophy and Personal Experience.
Science: I am most convinced by the the teleological argument of design for the Origin of Life. I think the Fine Tuning argument is quite strong but not as strong as the first. I really think quantum mechanics is giving rise to the plausibility of God and on a side note I am toying with the idea of quantum miracles. Psycho-physical harmony is intriguing to me and provides evidence for God but I'm not as versed in it as the others.
Philosophy: I think all the cosmological arguments are quite powerful and convincing. Combined with the Ontological Argument, I think the philosophical likelihood is pretty rock solid.
Personal Experience: I've experienced at least one bona fide miracle and another experience that isn't quite a miracle but a powerful experience that works much better under theism that atheism.
None of these are that new except for maybe the psycho-physical harmony and quantum miracles(which is something I put together and I don't know if it will hold up under scrutiny, yet.)
Of course, personal experience is backed up by my personal experience but I wouldn't expect it to change your mind, especially since you don't know me. The arguments from logic that I've presented have stood the test of time. They are solid arguments, if your honest, even if your not convinced.
There is very strong evidence for the Ool debate for design as well as for the fine tuning argument. There wouldn't be a fine tuning argument if their wasn't evidence for it. The basic Cosmological arguments such as the Kalaam all have evidence behind it.
It is important that you don't make the same mistake as many atheists do. "Evidence" is not the same thing as "proof." There is evidence for these examples but that doesn't mean I am claiming to be able to prove God exists through them.

Genesis 1 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light “day,” and the darkness he called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning-the first day.
Im sure this has been discussed before but could it be possible that the actual earth is older than the life on the earth?
I guess what im asking is do we really know how much time is between Genesis 1:1 and 1:3?
Since God is outside of time, how do we know how long his spirit was hovering over the waters?
To be clear I think life on earth is young and NOT millions of years old, I used to believe in evolution and now fully accept God as the creator of all things due to the evidence around. I now rely on Jesus to pay my debt of sin against God through his grace in reveling truth to me.

Colder air is usually denser than warmer air of similar humidity. The more moisture there is in the air the more dense it is. Clouds are very dense and very heavy. Adding heat does not remove weight. Heat will cause expansion and so the air will become slightly less dense. However, clouds are far more dense than the air underneath them. THAT is a huge problem. That is the issue you need to overcome. Besides, there is nothing warm about a cloud. That is why when you are on the ground on a warm day and you are surrounded by warm and even hot air, rain cools you off. The rain is much cooler than the hot air surrounding you on the ground. You’re looking at slavery in an anachronistic manner. Slavery was extremely common in Old Testament and New Testament times. And if you were to be a slave to any of the people of the world at that time, you’d want it to be to the people of God. Exodus 21 goes into great depth on how to properly treat your slaves, and maintain their dignity as humans. Slaves were treated more like family during those times. Proverbs 17:2 says “A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.” There were even slaves who were treated so well and loved their masters so much, they would refuse to leave their place as the household slave. look at Deuteronomy 15:16-18. It was even known that a slave owner would allow his slave to marry his daughter as seen in 1 Chronicles 2:43-35. And if you want to say that God still didn’t care for people as to allow them to be slaves, when God called the Hebrew people to free their slaves and they didn’t truly do so, then God called war and pestilence and famine to come upon the slave owners for not truly freeing their slaves in Jeremiah 34. And there are countless other areas that go on about the rights and well treatment of slaves. And if you want to go into the New Testament all you have to do is finish reading from the chapter you quoted from. It is telling the slave to behave a certain way under their masters as Christians and then it goes right back around and tells the slave master to treat their slaves in the same exact way going so far as to relate the earthly master as a slave to God in Ephesians 6:9 “Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven and that there is no partiality with him.” Not to forget the letter of Philemon which is entirely dedicated to defending a runaway slave who became a Christian. And in becoming a Christian Paul ordered the slave master to receive him back as a dearly beloved brother in verses 15-16 “For perhaps it was for this reason that he was separated from you for a while, that you would have him back forever, no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother, especially to me, but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord”. Slavery as it occurred in American history is nothing as slavery was called to be in the bible. And it was called to be as it was in the bible because God worked with the culture of the people back in the day as they were, but in a way that brought dignity to people. You’re attacking God, but God has no fault in anything. Sinful people mistreated slaves, but that was never the intention of God.

@@stevendelucas6311 God didn't "pop in out of thin air" - He created the laws of nature themselves (Jeremiah 33:25) including time space and matter (Genesis 1:1), and as a Supernatural Being who created time and nature He exists beyond time and nature - He is eternal. It's actually the atheistic-Naturalist that has a problem here because you have to keep passing the buck backwards indefinitely to another "natural" cause - until your "natural" (atheistic) belief system scientifically breaks down and then you have to start invoking "Supernatural" phenomena to explain our universe. Given that there is no known physical process which can create metaphysical laws that govern nature, *how do you believe the laws of nature came into existence which suspiciously give mathematical order the universe and which enable "science" in the first place?* I think you misunderstand the situation here. The atheistic-Naturalist worldview is internally inconsistent, but a biblical worldview is not. Let me explain:
The 1st law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created from nothing. The 2nd law of thermodynamics is the law of entropy, and it states that energy is constantly being converted into a "less usable" state where it is "unavailable for work" - think of it like a car with a tank of gas, once the gas is used up the car no longer runs - that is the idea of the 2nd law of thermodynamics. The 1st law of thermodynamics doesn't allow the universe to come into existence Naturally from nothing, and the 2nd law of thermodynamics doesn't allow the universe to have existed forever. These two laws contradict each other at the beginning of the universe. If the universe can't have a "natural" beginning, and if it can't have "naturally" existed forever, then how do you explain the beginning of the universe?
Exact same evidence, two different worldviews:
Creationism) The universe had an unavoidable supernatural beginning, and this is consistent with the biblical worldview which claims that it was created supernaturally by God. It is naturally impossible for a universe to create itself, as evidenced by our observable laws of nature.
Every building has a builder, and the universe is no different. The idea of deliberate intelligent design also accounts for earth meeting 122 precise anthropic constants (conditions required for life) which one physicist estimated to be a 1 in 10^138 probability - 40 orders of magnitude less likely than the estimated number of particles in our entire observable universe. Then God created all life as we know it, including creating human beings uniquely in His image and likeness.
Naturalism) The universe had an unavoidable supernatural beginning (!!!) that objectively supersedes the observable laws of nature, but we just refuse to call it supernatural because that contradicts our underlying Naturalist assumptions. Einstein expressed frustration over this problem as well. Naturalists INCONSISTENTLY believe everything is 100% "Natural" (ie. there is no God) in accordance with the laws of nature, but then invoke Supernatural solutions that supersede our laws of nature to sustain their old universe atheistic beliefs. *Infinite* alternate universes, alternate *unobservable* metaphysical laws of nature, an *eternal self-existent* singularity... perhaps the most popular atheistic theory today is a "quantum fluctuation" that causes entire universes to pop into existence, which a) requires space-time to be *Pre-Existent* (a Supernatural quality) and b) if true the universe should be full of just as much antimatter as the amount of matter we observe - where is it?
"Science is naturalistic" - how do you measure things like Infinite alternate universes? Or alternate laws of nature? In fact, how do you measure anything that allegedly happened 14 billion years ago that we can't observe today (historical science)? You can't, you can only interpret the modern indicators and fill in the rest of the blanks through your worldview... and Naturalists do so with internal inconsistency.
Also, given that there is *no known physical process that can produce metaphysical laws that govern nature* where do you believe the laws of nature came from which suspiciously give mathematical order to the universe and which enable us to do "science" in the first place? God says He created the laws of nature (Jeremiah 33:25). What do Naturalists say, and do you have any "scientific" *observable evidence* for your beliefs on this?
Not only did the universe randomly create itself, but the earth randomly formed itself, all the right proteins randomly formed themselves on a geothermal vent and somehow overcame the problem of hydrolysis, mass quantities of information in DNA created itself, all the right cell components randomly came into existence on their own inside of a cell enclosure, etc. All life is a meaningless, worthless chemical accident, and our very thoughts are meaningless worthless chemical accidents in a meaningless universe. And here you are, meaningless evolved protoplasm, sharing an ideology as if it is meaningful and worth considering? I can make sense of that: you are not a meaningless chemical accident, but a valuable human being made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). You are living inconsistently with your worldview on this point.
Naturalism is demonstrably internally inconsistent in that it violates its own laws of nature on numerous points. Internal inconsistency is a sign of a faulty worldview. This is not a problem for a biblical worldview , and creationists interpret and explain all of the exact same evidence. Can you see the problem now?

@@michael9237 If god created a world where people kill themselves, get cancer, mass murder, starve, die and get punished for not believing in it, then she is a sick pup. I'll have no part of that. Believe what you like and continue to ignore science but I'm not getting carpel tunnel.

@@stevendelucas6311 Steve, the reason those things happen in the world are not God's fault, it's your fault... and every other evil sinner that came before you. God made everything "and He saw that it was good," evil didn't enter the world until Adam and Eve decided to rebel against God, follow Satan, and seek to "be like God." God allows that evil to continue to exist in the world (temporarily) because *you are evil and He loves you,* and He delayed Judgment to give you a chance to repent from your sin and be saved for free (2 Peter 3:9). You know what you're doing? God says you are "suppressing the truth in unrighteousness" (Romans 1:18), that you "refused to love the truth" and that you "have pleasure in unrighteousness" (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12). I don't mean any offense, but please humor me for a moment and let's test this to see if what I'm saying is true:
How many lies have you told in your life? Be honest.
Have you ever stolen anything, regardless of value?
Jesus said "If you so much as look at another woman with lustful intentions then you have already committed adultery with her in your heart" (Matthew 5:28) - ever lusted?
Have you ever used God's name as a curse word (OMG, GD, etc.)?
Have you ever dishonored your parents?
God sees hatred the same as murder in your heart (1 John 3:15) - ever hated?
Have you ever coveted something that belonged to someone else?
Have you ever worshipped anything more than God? Entertainment? Yourself?
If so then you are a liar, thief, fornicator and adulterer, self-righteous blasphemer, disobedient, greedy, jealous, self-worshipping murderer in your heart. If you sin just 10 times a day, then after 80 years you will have broken God's Ten moral Commandments (mostly common sense moral issues btw) over 290,000 times. "It is appointed for a man to die once, then comes Judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). When you die, you will stand in front of the Holy God who created you and you will have to give an account of yourself as a thoroughly demonstrated moral criminal. You will be held accountable for every word you've ever spoken (Matthew 12:36). Will you be guilty?
When you commit a crime, a fine is due, and for your moral crimes against a Holy God that fine is paid in blood. The good news is that God loved you so much that He did something so that He can legally dismiss your case. "But God showed His love for us by sending His Son to die for us while we were still sinners" (Romans 5:8). God sent His Son Jesus to live a perfect sinless life, and to die an excruciatingly painful criminal's death in your place on the cross, and then He was resurrected on the third day conquering death itself. You committed numerous evil crimes, and Jesus paid your fine. It is a free gift - no works, no tithes, no religiosity required - just real faith characterized by repentance from your sins to Jesus the prophesied Christ as your Lord and as your Savior. Either way your fine will be paid in blood: either your own blood, or through Jesus who shed His blood for you in your place. Once you die, it's time for your sentencing. "It is appointed for a man to die once, and then comes Judgment" (Hebrews 9:27). Will you be guilty on Judgment Day?
The great advantage to atheism is that you can lie, fornicate, and worship yourself without remorse all the way up until Judgment Day when you will get the justice you deserve... but I care about you and I don't want you to get the Judgment that you (or I) deserve. 150,000 people die every single day, and this isn't the kind of thing you can afford to be wrong about. Please at least think about these things, you can mock me if it helps, and please consider re-engaging some of the evidence and simple questions above that you haven't really addressed yet. Thank you for listening to me.
"The evidence of God... has been clearly seen since the beginning in all that has been created, so they will have no excuse" (Romans 1:20)
"But God is patient towards you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to reach repentance" (2 Peter 3:9)
