  • Ho to make a Trustone ring or a stone inlay ring without crushed stone or soldering.
I show you how to turn Trustone and use a wide inlay channel ring core to create a stunning ring.
I used Chrysocolla Trustone and a Stainless steel ring core from:

You didn't show us a close up of the seams. Did the dust fill the crack inconspicuously?

Fantastic work as always. How strong or brittle is the tru-stone? Perhaps snapping it would make a smaller separation mark.

Thanks ! Yeah possibly snapping would be better - I just didn’t want to chance it 😂

Nice video. Would that blue material bend if you cut a thin strip of it? (Maybe warm it up) If it would you could get more rings out of a piece. Do I detect a Welsh accent?

Haha sorry for the late reply 😂. I don’t think you could bend the Trustone but it’s lovely to turn. And yeah I’m a valleys boy!

This is not real TruStone™. TruStone™ is a trademark of RT Research.

No crushed stone or soldering needed…. But you do need really fancy expensive cutting tools 🤔

Everything that is done in the video can be done by hand, or so it appears. It would just take a LOT longer.

That has convinced me to look askance at the people who wear those rings. Why you would do all that work with that expensive equipment for what is clearly a crappy piece of plastic is beyond me but listening to you talk that stuff up and then watching it curl off the lathe like it was PVC it seems the ringmakers believe their own lies.
Sorry but jewelry isn't something that degrades with sunlight or a red hot needle or contact with nail polish remover or time. That junk fails all those tests.
I'd have preferred you to inlay agate gravel but unlike plastics, that stuff is really hard. That's why it's jewelry.

@@larrymoremckenzie3029 Some years ago I had the opportunity to compare some old natural pearls with some old cultured pearls. As the natural pearls got worn they retained their luster underneath but as cultured pearls wear away it is like gilding. Underneath a thin shiny layer is obviously a clamshell.

Next time use a 2 piece ring core so you dont need to break the trustone....
