Glad you ditched the stock cooler lines. They have a thermostat at the block that bolts the cooler lines to the trans. Makes for the higher trans temps....
My 2016 Silverado runs around 194 trans temp on the highway with 35s.ive had the truck over 2 years and it's always been like that.even when I pulled a trailer a few times it never got over 198.not sure if it's normal on these trucks but the converter seems to lock in 3rd gear when the trans temp gets 68 degrees or higher.
I have a 09 1500 2wd. With 170thousand. Ive been worried about the transmission lately hoping I don’t have any problems. Only problem I have had is a collapsed lifter on cylinder 5 wich caused a misfire but only happens when I’m at idle when the oil pressure is low.
Man I have a 2018 that is shifting smooth but it jumped from 6 gear down to 4 gear and made me home. But it just squeals now when o started it this morning isn’t making sense at all. I called to have a transmission torque converter checked but they are saying that I need to replace the transmission it can cost me 4,800$ or 6,000$ dollars I just turned over 110,000 miles. Shame that this happened.
Did you have to get a new tcm or reprogram the old one after your swap? I'm about to attempt a rebuild on my 2015 I don't understand why I'd need to do that if I'm putting the same trans In with new guts
@@carlosocon9378 you can re use your old tcm,I drove to the nearest Transmission shop after the rebuild and they reprogrammed it in less than 10 minutes
Is it really just R&R? I've never replaced a transmission on a "newer" vehicle. I've only done it on my 90 and 97 240sx. One was an auto to 5 speed swap. Fingers crossed, I don't have any issues with my transmission yet, but I just want to be prepared. I NEED a tuner, correct? So this isn't something I can do myself?
When that box came off, I thought they sent you the wrong tranny... Then I remembered that you live in SoCal... I'll be jealous in a few more weeks when it starts snowing here
The other day we were on I80 in Indiana and we passed a ramp going about 80mph. We had to do evasive maneuvers to avoid the truck- trailer pulling over in the center!

Just curious, did yours have tow-haul mode and it smoked it pulling in just 3rd gear?

That's usually what takes these 6L80s out. The converters on these trucks are marginal.
