A must see video for modelers of all skill levels
Thanks Andy. I just did my 1/48 Sturmtiger using this rusting technique. I did pretty much the same as you showed, except for more chips, but a lot finer in detail. I am happy with the resulting weathering.
Love you videos Andy! You’ve definitely improved my models and taught me a lot. Thank you for your content.
Andy has taught me so much more than I knew before. I also love the hobby more now and have fun trying different techniques than I knew before. Bottom line, I have more fun now than before. Andy is a great teacher. A natural at it.
pro tip: you can watch series on kaldroStream. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies recently.

Thanks Andy
Andy, you are an artist! You make it look so easy, and the explanation is very clear. Thank You.
Good video. Very nice how too.
Really useful video - especially for someone new to weathering like me. Looking forward to the rest of the series
Beautiful.
This was very helpful. Thanks man
Love the new idea for this series, keep up the great work! Hopefully, this means we'll see more of you?!
Looks nice! Would love it when he would have the oxide primer turret on it as well! A nice late war vehicle!!👌👌
Awesome!!!!!!!!!
Nice video Andy! Really looking forward to doing this technique!!!
Thanks For Sharing Andy, have a Blessed Week Brother.
Nice job Andy! Your videos are extremely informative, and the realistic results on this project are outstanding.
Make more of theses types of videos please!
Hey Andy. This reminds me of your older videos. Great to have that. That was and is so much fun to watch. Hope you get back to your build videos of "mediocre" models again ;). Really enjoyed that a lot.
I appreciate the help you provide and I love your Chanel. Keep creating the great videos.
The best part of modellbuilding is to buy the kits
I agree!
Excellent as always. Thanks Andy. 👍🏻😊
That was the best video I have seen on all of this and I watch a lot of them due to the fact I like building rusty old cars and trucks along with Rat Rods. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Amazing!!....thanks for sharing your techniques and your time.
store looks great!!! im coming down to arizona soon, ill be sure to stop in and buy some stuff!
Andy you have just made me improve on my chipping and weathering technique for that I thank you Steve 🇬🇧

Hi Andy, another great video, again you are a true inspiration to us all and you should be very proud of your work and teaching, I would like to take this chance to wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year.
Made my archer look great with you’re chipping technique
Great video mate 👍😊👍really good illustration of the techniques, I've learned a lot from watching this one. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. 😊
looking good post will see
That Maus is my fav video from you
Hi Andy.
Store looks great, and your videos got me back in to kit building. I now have a nice selection of Tamiya lorries and utility vehicles to build and paint.
When you can get some European distribution I'll have to give your website a go.
thanks, you're an artist! very useful tips will help my own modelling
Beautiful work Andy.
Thank you Andy as always very informative 😀
Great work Andy!!
All the weathering tips are really great. However, we all know that battle damage is the more dramatic effect on a vehicle. Is there a way that you can show how to include small arms fire and AT or tank main gun fire ricochets that would wouldn't necessarily completely penetrate the armor plate on a turret or frontal armor? Please add something like that in an upcoming video. BTW, I'm a great fan of your instructional videos!
Oh, that mottling mask is brilliant! Ordered one right away, can't wait to test it out.
Lovely, literally just what I needed, king tiger coming in a couple of weeks
This is grate!
Night shift does an equally excellent job on chipping
Interesting technique. I would use this in combination with washes and dry brushing.
Andy you definitely have room behind you to add a center isle with shelves!
GREAT Video Andy!!! Joe
Andy, great stuff!! could you also do a spot on creating battle damage methods; i.e. bent fender, shell deflections/entry. I'm always afraid of damaging a model by doing something with heat to create these effects.
Hello Andy, I love you’re videos and I want to try and follow them and use the techniques featured but I do not have most of the products that you show so could you maybe show how to make homemade products?
Welcome back!
Its really cool, but I would suggest that when you are into chipping you load the brush with a tiny bit of paint, just to do a fine rust line.
Also, you could use enamel thinner to correct a bit tiny mishappenings here and there along with acrylic paint retarder.
Farewell
Excelent
I am getting back on this hobby, and browsing to other videos saw a chipping technique using hair spray, or a commercial chipping fluid for more precision. That technique seemed a bit easier than this, but how would you compare it ? In this video I do see use of more colors whereas in the chipping fluid technique is basically doing contrast btw 2 colors only. Thanks for the inspiration
hoping for some oil weathering videos too :)
I will definitely use this video for help! I love your weathering you always make your models look so good. I have always wondered though, why is the chipping brown and not a steel color, is it supposed to be like it has rusted a little? and also do you use the same chipping for planes?
Great video as usual! When you do streaking you use enamel thinner. Is that the same as oderless mineral spirits? Thanks! You have me modeling again after a 30 year absence! My wife and I are suffering from empty nest syndrome! Thanks again and “Let’s get started!”
Hi Andy, loving the work so far. Quick question; how would you do the chipping on a Aluminum hulled vehicle, like the M113 series? The only real steel on them is the hull fittings, such as lifting points, etc..
If I doing a German grey tank, will I still use the same chipping color?
Hi Andy
Do you out any varnish over the paint before this process?
Andy - Do you recommend the AK weathering pencils?
Any tips of you don't have a air brush
What color would i use with a green base color.
What clear coat do you use and why is it needed? Only on my second model but trying to improve the finish of it
Pls Help . I use tamiya acrylic paint after that i use Tamiya 81522 - Mini X-22 Clear and after that i put decals but the colors wash , what i need to use for that to not happens again ? Its my first model build, tiger 1 early academy its not noob friendly btw , thx . Sry for my broken eng .
Tip: in real life weld seems do not rust
Hey Andy,
Great video, I have one question unrelated to it though. Many times when I am building I paint up the whole model (Usually in just one single color) and after I build up all of the tools and spare tracks and paint them. Then whenever I start to glue them the paint gets messed up from the glue. So my question is how do you approach glueing accessories after the initial paint coat without messing up said paint? Thanks once again and I look forward to more of these great in depth videos!
Use pva glue, or at least try to scratch most of the paint away with a sharp blade. Works for me
Will those mottling masks be useful on ship models?
thats a lot more space
I haven't seen any tank/afv with scratches
Stealing a page from Night Shift, are ya? Really great video! Have you ever messed with battle damage such as shell impacts or bullet holes? I'd certainly be interesting to see that as I am thinking of incorporating some into my next build.
What do you clear coat with?
I used testers dullcoat
@@AndysHobbyHeadquarters like just simply from the can? Well that makes things much easier. Love your videos btw. Have really inspired me as I get more confident in the hobby.
who did the wheatering on andy?
:p
OK, OK So it seems as you said- it's simple and just practice, practice -👍-----well maybe. 🤔 But are you really sure small elves don't come in the night and do it for you? Me I'm Still waiting---sigh
Same ratio's as your track colour ?
