    * Where to find EVERY Weapon and Item!
    * How to beat EVERY Dungeon, including the optional Color Dungeon!
    * The SECRET way to SKIP the Golden Leaf quest!
    * Techniques that will help you in the DX version, OR the original Black & White version!
    * Detailed MAPS for every area!
    * How to STEAL from the store, and also, how to get a discount WITHOUT stealing!
    * Multiple MONEY TRICKS - Get rich quick!
    * How to perform SUPER JUMPS and other secret GLITCHES!
    * The SECRET of the HIDDEN WORLD below Level 1!
    * TONS of SHORTCUTS - No need to take the long way!
    * Where to find EVERY SECRET SEASHELL and HEART PIECE!

I think in many ways Links Awakening was more of a milestone than Nintendo realized. It showed that more serious writing and deeper themes were possible on the GB. Plus it not being do rigidly written is also a plus.

First thing I do with my inventory in this game is always to map the sword to the B button, and the shield to the A button until I get the Roc's Feather. I keep the Roc's Feather on A as much as possible. "A is Jump, B is Attack" is a control scheme I try to use as much as possible on most controllers.

Playing this game on the original Gameboy was an amazing experience. There is just something haunting about the way the eerie chimes of the GB sound chip and the monochromatic palette enhance the feeling of exploring the depths of this strange secluded island. Most people opt for colorized versions today, but for me there's indefinable value in the limitations of the original.

A fun trick for people who love Marin is if you want her to follow you around for the rest of the game, you can use the Select button warp to zip past the walrus with her and you don't lose her. It gets a little glitchy when the rooster joins you but it goes right back to normal ol Marin when the rooster leaves.
Obviously this only works in versions with the Select warp, which, I guess, got removed at some point. But then you get Marin as your personal travel buddy for the rest of the game as long as you don't ever talk to the walrus.

in link's awakening, if you have the compass in a dungeon and enter any room that has a hidden key in it, a jingle will be played, did you know that they used the same sound in a BoTW when you open the map? It's exactly the same but in a fast tempo.
and they also used the same sound when you open the map in ToTK in different notes but same intervals!

Being so engulfed in the Zelda series my whole life, this title hits like a fever dream. When I really try to rank my favorites, this is never lower than number 2 on the list. There are very few games, ever, that give this special vibe. From the "slightly-off" different world, to the original songs that sound so much like a remix of some long-lost 80's power ballads. I swear I can hear a wailing, emotional guitar instead of the chiptune mix in many cases.

I've only ever played this game once a few years ago. Even so I personally think it's one of the best Zelda games. I look forward to getting the Switch version sometime.

This was an entire summer vacation for me. My first Zelda game, too. I used to hunch over the edge of the couch with my Gameboy under the lamp, just listening to Marin sing. Core memories, these.

I still can't believe that I beat this game at 14 while having no tips or google. It did take me about a year though cause I would get stuck on some puzzles, plus my knowledge of English wasn't up to par at the time. My biggest issue was the first room in the second (swap) dungeon. I could not figure out what I need to do there for a while :)

Awesome! I beat this game a few months ago, and it was (mostly) fantastic. Cant wait to eventually revisit the game armed with your tips!

Great video again! I appreciate all the details and backstory you add, it makes it much better to understand these classics. I grew up with these games but younger generations have no idea about all that stuff. So even if they never play these games they could at least learn how we got where we are today with games like Tears of the Kingdom and others

Another wonderful video. I remember spending way too long fighting the genie because I thought I needed to knock him into the wall with my sword.
I was a dumb kid, since I should have known the item in the dungeon would be used against the boss in that area.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that when you are escorting Marin to Animal Village, if you keep attacking the cuckoo or the foxes, she starts to get into it asking you to hurt the animal more and laughing a bit...brokenly.

Thanks for the video! FYI: you can get the original tunic back in the DX version using a glitch that happens after killing exactly 90 enemies without entering or exiting a cave/house/dungeon/etc. If the 90th enemy killed has "index 0," then the game gives you the green tunic back after killing it. You can use this glitch to also get red tunic (kill index 1), blue tunic (kill index 2), or glitched tunics (kill index 3 or 4). Here, the index refers to the enemy's number given to identify it from other enemies on screen. If it's the only enemy when you enter a screen, it'll be index 0, otherwise it's worth checking which enemy is which index on each screen. The trick is very easy and can be undone by going to the color dungeon or doing the trick again, but it takes a little time to kill 90 enemies on the overworld - I recommend doing a loop of the Toronbo Shores since the sea urchins, octoroks, leevers, and sand crabs all are easy to kill and respawn after a few screens.

You actually can change back to the green clothes by exploiting a bug. Kill 90 enemies without loading a new map (easiest to do on the overworld) and depending on the index of the last enemy killed it will change your clothes. If I recall the possibilities are:
index 0: gives you the green clothes
index 1: gives you the red clothes
index 2: gives you the blue clothes
index 3: gives you the damage clothes. Link has the the palette he flashes when he takes damage. It acts like the red clothes but without the the knockback.
index 4: gives you the rupee clothes. Link shares his palette with the rupee. It also changes to the palette of the outside of the Eagle Tower when at the entrance. It doesn't have any special effect.
index 5: gives you the chameleon clothes. Link shares his palette with one of the current environment palettes. Changes around a lot. Has no special effect.

I don't know if it's exclusive to the Switch remake, but there is a hidden side to Marin you can see if you keep hitting the hen in the village.
At first, she'll be shocked, and then she'll get angry at you.
But, if you keep at it, she'll actually giggle and ask you to do it again!
Yep. Marin is somewhat of a closet sadist.
