Thanks for the review @FreshlyCharged! We're super happy you're using the Regenerative brake vs the drum brakes (that's the goal, 90% of our riders are using these, which makes your scooter much more efficient, require less maintenance and recharge up to 10%). Great feedback points re-light, and kickstand, already solutions in place on future batches 🙂. And congrats Andrew on your new child - can't wait to see them on a scoot in the future!

I own a lot of scooters (too many), but I think too many people think they should get a 100lb scooter and will learn to regret it when a 50-65lb scooter would be ideal for them. I rarely go over 30mph on a scooter and can't fit my big scooters in the trunk like I can a medium-weight one. This is the class most people should look towards when upgrading from a basic segway/xiaomo/niu.

Agreed, after a ton of research I purchased the 2023 City Pro as my first scooter. A friend of mine bought the 120 lb King GT that goes 65 mph but it's so crazy heavy that it's a pain to pack around....it was also crazy expensive.

Never had a flat tire and im still using the original tires the scooter was shipped with. Have ridden in rain, snow, heavy winds, negative temperatures etc this scooter has experienced & survived it all.
It really makes me want to get the PRO I imagine that one is even better.

Makes it friendly to ship overseas as well!
The way it is shaped with the rear frame handle and the front wheel attachment to the stem makes it super easy to carry up and downstairs by any able-bodied individual!

Quite happy with my 2023 City Pro. The regen brakes are unreal and I use them most of the time. They enlarged the battery on the 23/24 model which is nice for extra range and the cells are the 21700. I haven't had any issues whatsoever with the app, it works great. All in all, it's been a great scooter. I will say that Apollo also has sales regularly so keep an eye out on their website if you're in the market.

Great review guys. I’ve been watching a lot of reviews in anticipation of purchasing this scooter soon. Very detailed in what an average scooter rider wants to know. (You’re the first reviewer to talk about out the 2 ways to turn off the blinkers) It’s rare to find a review that publishes later than others but still brings new relevant information to viewers, but you guys did just that. Great job!

This was a recommended video by Google for me (I’ve recently been watching eScooter videos). I was about to close the video before the “things you didn’t like” section as is felt like an advertisement more than a review. I’m glad I didn’t close it as the video was well balanced by the cons, after hearing all the pros. Thanks for the review and for Apollo for sending you the unit. 😊👍
One criticism as a new viewer on your channel is the skidding on a device in reviews. I don’t understand why reviewers in general insist on doing that? It’s not a “trick” it seems kind of juvenile. If you can’t brake hard without skidding it shows a lack of control or tire grip and promotes anti social behaviour by leaving a mark on the surface you’re riding on. It also lowers the respect level that people using these devices are already struggling with (Scooters are banned in some areas, like here in Australia, because of users doing things like that in public). Replacing tires on a scooter is a pain too, so why encourage people to wear them out intentionally? /EndOldManRant

this is my first scooter (i had the 2022 model which later upgraded to the 2023 handle bar) i loved it. Apollo is great with warranty claims and great help with trouble shooting.
Like the video, I didnt like the drum brakes too because it requires alot of force to press. and another thing is if you need to do some work and have to remove the battery from the scooter it is HELL to put it back in. It is a really tight fit. It will fit back together but just note that it takes alot of time.
Other than that, loved it! you dont really use the app at all other than occasional tuning of the regen brake. Its an amazing zoom around scooter that can easilly maintain 50kmhr letting you ride in roads.
I would recommend this scooter to anyone. i myself eventually switched over to EUC because i dont want to have to hold a handle bar at all times. Riding scooters with 1 hand is very dangerous.

Handle bar signal lights, very little value. The turn signal should be a switch instead of two buttons. Similar to what a motorbike use. Still waiting for a motorbike throttle instead of these thumb throttles. Kickstand will not work well if on uneven ground. I always feel as if my scooter will fall over, even when on level ground. It should have a bit of a lean to it. The front fender does not do its job properly. I really like the locking hook for picking up the scooter. My 2022 City Pro does not have the latch so I end up carrying the scooter with the stem locked in an upright position. Too many stories of the hook unhooking itself. I have to say, this scooter is first class. Clearly, the designer put some thought into the scooter. If I did not have my 2022 version, I would purchase the 2023 model. I feel very safe riding at high speeds compared to previous scooters I owned. Very stable, smooth, drum brakes are the way to go, cruise control (use it all the time), carrying handle makes lifting the scooter so much easier, lots of power. The range is about 45 kms. I go 40 kms with still some juice left as I never drain the battery. Now I wish it was summer... two more months before I can take it out.

I would prefer the drum brakes over the disc brakes, simply for their no nonsense design, and easy/low maintenance. I'm glad to see that Apollo is using the drum brakes on the City, and even on their flagship Apollo Pro scooter. Well played, Apollo!

And no modular battery or trigger throttle option either, as the thumb throttle system gets very tiresome after about 30 mins.
Otherwise it's a nice if not very large scooter that has been beautifully manufactured.

@KroryykDB wanted more power and especially range. The apollo ghost once you ride about 10 miles the power drops alot and same with the torque. The range isn't good, I would get to about 18 miles of range. 13-18 miles is very slow. Sketchy past 30 miles per hour, no lights at night, breaks were a pain in the butt, uses way old technology etc. Now I have a dualtron thunder and I get 60 miles real range or 90 miles if I keep it under 25 miles per hour. It can hit 63 mph, amazing headlights etc. I get more compliments on it and stopped more than when I had my corvette and camaro !

Cant even mount a phone properly on the handlebars. you cant do that for your style of riding and much more stuff you cant change but overall it looks good.

Can the scooter maintain 32MPH when climbing or is that only on flat? I'd like to see a scooter that's overbuilt and software limited because my "22MPH" Segway Max G2 can only hit 22 on a very flat surface with 75%+ charge and tires inflated to the maximum. I'm often on streets with cars trying to go 30-35 while I'm only able to go 17 because of the incline. I have to go over to (much rougher) side-streets.

Segway GT1 is $1499. Has faster top speed, larger battery, hydraulic brakes, hydraulic suspension, great app. Its built like a tank. Segway also has an amazing warranty, where they''ll replace practically anything, no questions asked. I heard Apollo's warranty and post purchase customer service is not as good. Apollo city pro should be priced around $1000 to be competitive. I would by Segway GT1 again.

I absolutely can’t stand Apollo’s center notch in the steering. It prevented me from buying one.

After about 50 miles or so, break in period. The center notch feel is gone.

@@7sonero7 Steering column is over-tightened in the factory on the steering head bearings creating a notch, often with incorrectly applied grease amplifying the issue. Same issue with Nami Burn-E scooters.

@user-bp5py6bh3g Why do you suppose the notch goes away over time ?
Do you think it is due to the break-in period?

let me get this right you stand up on a board with a handle bar that comes up and two bike brakes and you go 30 miles an hour and if you loose your balance or something happens you are just dead

    • @Shirehi
      @Shirehi Před 4 měsíci +8

I think you'll find that there is not a scooter brand alive and well today that has proper customer service. It's all outsourced third party uselessness. You really have to have a voice online for them to take any interest in helping you directly lest they make bad publicity that affects overall sales.
You would think a huge brand like Segway would have it but nope literally the most disgusting scam of a brand you can get behind lol
