Sir I felt the same for many years until the great Eric Weissberg said to me (a long story from his South African tour with Art Garfunkel in 2001) the playing and mastering of an instrument is an introspective journey. One must play for oneself as much as another. If it isn't enjoyable for oneself then something elemental is wrong. For me it was timing. Eric taught us in a few hours the power of a metronome and it changes my life. It could be something as simple as note spacing, timing or phrasing. Without the basics it sounds off. Start there and even the great Trey Hensley is achievable, correct Trey? I'm still working hard at the basics by the way, and still enjoying the results

I remember the morning Marty Robbins died…My old man was up at like 4:30 am (which he never was) when I would usually roll outta the house for morning swim practice…He was a real sob but this particular morning was soft and his voice was shaking. He tells me Marty Robbins died…I skipped practice (I was 10) and he made us breakfast and I stayed home all morning listening to his records with the old man. Dude…You made me wanna reconnect with this music years later. Beautiful stuff Trey….Bravo!!!

It's crazy I'm basically an expert on Real Country (self proclaimed ofcourse) and a video popped up after a song someone sent me. Marty introducing a kid at the opry.i knew there was bigger things to come.now I cant stop listening! And what's crazy is like our music taste is exact. Thanks Trey. I have an old Harmony Sovereign too. My uncle played it until he died in 1963 after he got home from Korea. Still a pretty good old box. You play so very well, and sing so well too, it looks easy. That is what a professional is. You are that. God bless you.
