As a goalie i had to adopt the standard last year. Weith florida heat and hunmiidity, i was sweating in the STX's after 2 minutes in the shop. The mav speed pads most resemble their golie pad, and i can 100% vouch for the green mesh. v breathable and lightweight

Anyone old enough to remember the early/ mid 2000's attempts at this? My old Warrior MPG pads had an air bad type thing that could velcro to the sternum section. I had a teammate who had the old school STX K18's that were just big plastic (lexan) shells over the chest. It was weird to me to see the big companies just push out new pads instead of also offering retroactive fixes to old ones. Like, just a velcro shell for your old pads. Done.

Cool stuff. I had the brine sp4 pads in high school and played attack… wow those pads where Sooo thin haha , I think the shoulder caps where the most protective part. It’s amazing we survived haha. I’m glad pads now have bulked up and have that hard shell in the front.

Needed a shoulder pad upgrade last year just as they rolled out, and found some interesting stuff…stx has more shoulder pads and liners on the way but went w the maverik max liner as a close dman….i play fairly consistently and the clips constantly un-tighten on the strab just due to how elastic the rope material is attatched to the clip….have to constantly tighten it which is frustrating….lowkey wish i went with the stx cell 5 liner, but the bubble was a huge turn away at the time and still a concern…kind of a pick ur poison moment…outside of that, the max liner has been great clips havnt broken…just been the strap, the mesh lining is still in tact

I was very skeptical to get new pads but my coach said I had to and I got the maverick liners and they feel great I don’t like how far it sticks out but all pads are gonna do that as an attack man I think they protect enough while not hurting my mobility
