its actually a 620 class, a further development of the 600 class introduced in 1949. This unit was the first of the class, built in the 60's to replace steam in the Newcastle area.
Nice video. I really did enjoy it. You could have left the sideways pics out, they look terrible! But did you really have to call it the "Rainforest Rattler"? A much better name would have been "Rainforest Explorer", but of course we must use alliteration, mustn't we!
Used to ride these trains back in the 60,s Syd.central to Katoomba & Mt Victoria & school hols. To Mudgee ,blast from the past ....good memories.😊
Yeh I would have love to ride the old steamers and the first of the diesels.
Not forgetting to mention that these were used on the Richmond line from Riverstone before electrification in 1991 😎 11:13 AEST
