New Jersey police were called to a Westfield school after someone reported an incident involving a woman who was allegedly drunk while attempting to pick up her child from school. Officers immediately noticed signs of impairment and a smell of alcohol. Cops offered her a field sobriety test, which she failed, leading to her arrest for DUI. The mother had a BAC of 0.17, which is more than double the legal limit.

I thought that too. Also. she said she wanted to make sure her child was ok but was willing to drive her child home while drunk. Just so sad.

Shes probably sensitive because she has lived with an alcoholic mother her whole life
This officer was FANTASTIC. She owes him. He was soooooo considerate of her kids!!!!
RIDICULOUS. Praising cops for being respectful and decent just shows how low the bar has sunk.🙄😤
But honestly he could have just called CPS and then when the kids see the mom being cuffed etc it’s very traumatizing to them. So in fact I do believe he was fantastic, so patient and he really cared about what those kids experienced that day.

She has a nanny but still drove drunk to pick up the kids? 🤦♀️ pathetic.
That's my question too!
Nanny doesn’t live in, and she was at her own home.
@@AtTheLake91 the mother could have called the nanny hey. 🤷♀️ js
this is all based on assumption - but since she mentioned the nanny was once an au pair, I’m thinking that maybe she was their live-in nanny when the kids were younger, but now that they’re in school, she’s more of a close family friend and probably no longer takes care of the kids. Regardless, she still could have called her from the beginning LOL i don’t have much sympathy for her

Yeah, too bad it's so rare these days among LEOs
I just want to thank the officer for remaining calm with her for the sake of the kids. Let me tell you, seeing your parent being cuffed and put in a cop car is a memory that never leaves you. Knowing your mom is being taken to jail causes a ton of undue stress for a kid.
Sounds like that happened to you...I am sorry u had to see that and I bet it does stick with you!
I’ll take your word for that.
But the parent will repeat the offence of almost killing innocent civilians… ah well, no one’s innocent nowadays 😂
Cops are supposed to be calm they're public servants. They're supposed to behave polite and professional
So does killing someone from drinking and driving!
I have no sympathy for anyone who drives while under the influence. She could have had someone else pick her child up from school. There's just no excuse for it.
Exactly since the nanny is now coming to get them

She knew exactly what was going on her father.
I hope her father & grandparent got themselves sorted out & you have moved on from that situation. Living with alcoholics is so difficult. The lying, the attempted minimising, the excuses, the constant drama, the stress. I remember driving home from work & realising my shoulders were up around my ears because I was dreading what drama awaited me. In my situation, I realised that by staying with him & continuing trying to help him, I was subconsciously enabling his behaviour. Unfortunately, he never managed to get better, but found someone who would drink with him & died in his 30’s from liver failure.

They make glasses and kitchen towels personalized with that wording.... It's like the "Stanley" craze on steroids 🤦
Is what you’re saying for real? That is gross!
Plenty of us don't drink ever. Not just at some weird thing but plenty of us just don't drink at all. That's because plenty of people shouldn't be mothers if that's how they feel.
Most of my mom friends don’t drink anymore because we can’t deal with the hangover and taking care of little ones.
Yeah society is messed up. Home decor that says “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” and “Mommy needs wine” to make it ok for everyone and then wonder why people end up doing this. The drinks industry puts profits over people every time.

She should have thought of that before she drank and tried to pick up her other daughter. And NOW she worries how sensitive her daughter is??
I want to know how this situation started. How did she become suspected of dui?
They mentioned she woke up late, so I think it might have been the school that noticed. If you’re late picking up your kids often you have to collect your kid from inside the school.
