I just went to Iceland for vacation a few weeks ago and we made this exact drive out to Vik. it was SO beautiful.
Except it was even snowier when we drove through that mountain pass, so EVERYTHING was white. White mountain, white ground, white sky. it was the most white I've ever seen and it was just stunning.
Then you go even further, like out to the glacial lagoon and you get to see all the lava flats on the side of the road with the lichens growing over them. the landscape feel so alien at times, but it's so beautiful.
