4th of July - A perfect day to reflect on Patriotism so, I took the time to watch a great speech from a man I feel is destined to be a great leader of this nation. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that all of you take some time to watch it as well, no matter what your politics are.....

The sound of the crowd after the Twain reference (around 15:30 in) doesn't quite carry as well as it did in person (I was there, it was probably the biggest ovation of the day).
But who can argue with a 25 second ovation when it comes to a reaction?

This speech is a patriotic act because it unites America healing a divide. Hearing this speech bridged a divide between me and my fellow citizens, answering why the flag pin is important to some people: The desecration of America's symbols by some in the 60's and the
disrespect for Vietnam veterans left scars that make antiwar sentiment seem suspect.
His words healed a division in me.
And he respects America's founders by recalling them.
God Bless Mr Obama and the USA!
    Happy Independence Day!

If you really look at the man's history you'd see he has done a great deal to be a president. His approach in Iran different then what we're supposed to believe is the right way, by opening the lines of communication with Iran. Obama is the a man that truely seems to believe in this country and the capablities of its people, and yes an incredible speaker... if you research any great leader, there ability to inspire is what makes them truely great. God knows we need a true leader now.

He reaches the intellect, and the heart. When you listen to the opposition they

When Barrack comes into office he is not going to whisk all our troops back home to safety with snap of his fingers & we will be in Iraq for a good while longer.

No it isn't. A post-secondary education isn't guarenteed in the USA, not only that he said it would be a monetary incentive for people who want to go to college. A draft says that you must go to war if the country needs you to in a time of war. National service does not equal war, nor are you required to participate. How you interpreted this as a draft I have no idea.

Naturally the common people don't want war. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is ...

1] All polls show that Democrats will make significant gains in the house and senate, thus allowing Obama to author significant change
2] Obama has been saying for months that he wants a careful and measured withdrawal from Iraq and that he will deploy some of these forces to Afghanistan, where things are coming apart thanks to the insane diversion that is the witless occupation of Iraq.

Well Obama's the better candidate, but I'm not happy about the fact that he felt the need to push away his ties to Islam. Kinda sad that he has to do that just to appease narrowminded Yokels. Also his pledging support to Israel's military raises some concerns, hopefully he doesn't actually give them the billion dollars he pledged. It would be better spent giving education to people in Israel/Palestine then in giving it to Israel's military.
