Hi! Escargots/Snails aren't supposed to be chewy, but tender. If they were chewy, then you got either an overcooked one or probably a canned version they simply put inside the shell.
I had Escargot when I was like 4 and its one of the most delicious distinct memorable food experiences of my life to this day

I had the same idea about Escargot when I hadnt had it yet either but once i actually tried it it was actually pretty good since the snail has no actual flavor and all you can taste is the garlic and butter
Exactly! Just a chewy texture with a buttery garlic flavour, not that bad at all really
Yup spot on. Also, this is definitely not something we eat on a daily basis. It's usually around christmas and new year we'll have a few. Home prepared are also probably fresher and better than anything you'd find in a restaurant. Tis yummy!

I was in France last year and when I crossed the border to Spain and people finally stopped when they were supposed to, I felt like I had come to heaven. It's so stressful dealing with traffic in France.

I've been eating Escargot since I was very young and I can understand Nick's apprehension at eating them, but they are indeed delicious and a unique food as long as they are ethically sourced. Escargot and Frog-legs are two of my favorite odd-ball delicacies along with Alligator meat. Also, there is a Sicilian dish that has Escargot as the meat (minus the shells), and personally the Sicilian version tastes way better than the French Escargot.

For me the texture is an issue with escargot. Truly they just taste like whatever you cook them in. But its a little too chewy for me, personally. I had some really good ones in a baked pumpkin cream soup one time tho!
