Well, Valencia is filled with delicious places to eat. Today we have came to fill ourselves with some of the best food Valencia has to offer.
In this video we head down to the Cabanyal neighborhood in Valencia. First we visit Mercabanyal, an excellent outdoor space that is constructed partially out of an old building mixed with shipping containers. This is an indoor outdoor experience with both rooftop seating and indoor seating. It offers an excellent mixture of restaurants that open up shop inside of the grounds and serve delicious food. They also have multiple bars so you never go thirsty.
Next we visit the oldest tapas bar in town, Casa Montaña, over 185 years old! This place is AMAZING, they offer an extensive wine list, tapas menu and delicious barrel aged vermut! This place absolutely oooozes character and hasn't changed in nearly two centuries!
We make one final stop at Anyora another WIN! This place has excellent service and the food is delectable. We try some summer favorites like beefsteak tomato, grilled tuna and another twist on a pig ear!
So get that bib out and join us as we explore some of the best tapas bars in Valencia Spain!

A Couple of Nomads?
Who are we?
Well, we are a couple from worlds apart that has chosen Valencia, Spain to be our home. Vicky is born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, now an American citizen. Josh is an American, well, born and raised.. ya know.
We left our family and friends and moved to Valencia, Spain in the middle of the pandemic. We decided to that we should also start a CZcams channel to show the world that, you can do anything (even if you are getting grey hair), if you think you can! If you want to see how a couple of expats can live the Mediterranean dream, and you want to join us on our journey...then subscribe, we would love to have you as part of our extended family!
Amazing guys! I was in Mercabañal yesterday too! I will give you another set of reccomendations in Cabañal for second round :) . Taberna Casera, this is an unpretentious and affordable resto of delicious paellas and cava sangrias. Bodega la Aldeana 1927, amazing tapas. La Sastrería, hip fish resto and La lonja del pescado for a cheap super fresh fish. Remember to make reservations. All in Cabañal, this neighbourhood has many great restaurants.
Awesome! Thank you for your recommendations and watching our video! 😊 Those restaurants sound amazing. We'll definitely try!
looking forward to watching more of these vids b4 our trip later this year.

Jaja si, lo disfrutamos mucho. ¡Muchas gracias por ver nuestro video!
Este hombre con lo que se le ve disfrutar de las tapas no vuelve, jajaja. Saludos ¡¡¡
We love your videos: down-to-earth descriptions and conversations. It is great to see a focus on Valencia and it looks like you are thoroughly enjoying Valencia as your new home. Thank you, also, for the total costs in your outings - it gives excellent perspective. We have loved Spanish wines for quite some time, so I have a question regarding Casa Montaña: was the wine list varied and pricey compared to other places? We live in Temecula, California - will be visiting Valencia soon. We've shared your channel to our family and friends. We are looking forward to your Las Fallas video - don't stress it though, just enjoy it! Keep up the good work, the great videos, and know that you have fans.
Hello Nina, thank you so much for your kind comment. We definitely love Valencia as our home and the lifestyle here. For wine prices, in Valencia wines are generally very inexpensive. You will find a glass of wine ranging from 1.5 to 3 euros in general. Depending on the quality of wine. Casa Montaña is definitely on the slightly pricey side (the ones we tried was 3-5 euros a glass but they have more expensive ones) 😅They have a great selection of wines priced ranging from 13-15 euros up to 500+ euros a bottle. They have wines from different regions (some rare) in Spain, which we loved. We used to visit Temecula for wine tasting when we lived in SoCal. SoCal is another home in our hearts. 😊 Thank you for watching and sharing our channel with others. Really appreciate it. 🙏🏼
Thanks for the great videos...we are an American couple from Florida planning to visit Spain next year. We are planning withing a year or two to move to Spain.
Oh awesome! I’m sure you’ll love this beautiful country. Thank you for watching! 😊
I love Casa Montaña (and Anyroa too). And you forgot to mention the first thing you notice when entering the place… the smell of vermouth! That place smells soo good!!
You’re right! We love Casa Montaña. Thank you for watching!
I was there two day ago as they were putting the decorations for the festival. Can't wait to live it here
Las Fallas will be great, we are looking forward to it too! Thank you for watching!
@@ACoupleofNomads I love las fallas but this September will be just a hint guys, not a normal Las Fallas as mascletas in plaza Ayuntamiento won’t be happening and also toque de queda, and the travel restrictions etc won’t be a packed and late party usual Fallas, but at least something and they will be able to burn the fallas from last year!
@@xemmm18 Yes, we are aware of it. But still excited to at least see what it's like, hoping to see the full scale one next year! 😊
QUE RICO ESTA TODO LO QUE PROBAIS.Y ESPERANDO EL VIDEO DE LAS FALLAS.😘😂🇪🇸👋
Todo estaba muy rico. ¡Estamos muy emocionados por Las Fallas! Gracias por ver nuestro video. 😊
We have reservations for today w the family to celebrate my nieces birthday. Thanks for the suggestion.
Ohh Awesome, enjoy its delicious! Thanks for watching!
¡Qué arte destrozado la sardina!
Is it just me, or were you guys wasted by the end of this video? 🤔🤣
The food looked really good. Looking forward to checking some of these places out myself.
Lol, did we look drunk? I think we weren't drunk but certainly in a food comma, and super tired. (it was almost midnight haha) Hot weather didn't help. Lots of delicious food!
@@ACoupleofNomads Lately they call everything drunk, they tell me a lot, but I'm still standing, and speak well 😂😂
Saludos desde España!! Great job, let's all enjoy life.
@@Juan-xg4kr haha! Cheers to enjoying life🍷. Thanks for watching😀
Esos chorizos en esos cuencos de arcilla , aceite de oliva y vino , se enciende el vino creando pequeñas llamas y es una deliciaaaaaaa
Must say that was a great video. I liked the sardines (I MUST TRY). Carmel liked everything else!!!!. also, I'm just guessing here...you both looked like the drink had gotten to you along with the food coma setting in. Slept well I think!
Glad you and Carmel liked the video! The sardines are a must try😀. Definitely a food coma, it was so hot, we were exhausted! Thanks for watching!
Umm, "Sardinas plancha" un sencillo y delicioso manjar a la vez que asequible.
"Grilled sardines" a simple and delicious delicacy at the same time that it is affordable.
My old neighborhood. I need to make an appointment in order to have my head examined. Why oh why did I move back to the States 😢 Lot's of Spaniards eat at La Montaña. You'll have to try La Batisfera and Festinar.
Oh , what a wine cellar guys! That was a good shot. Score 10 point.
I look forward to Las Fallas video.
By the way, it would be a good opportunity to taste "buñuelos de calabaza" (buñuelos made out of pumpkin) with thick chocolate. That is a traditional valencian "snack" (tentempie in Spanish) or alternatively "churros" (not from Valencia).
It was amazing! Thank you 😊
We love buñuelos and churros. We will definitely take advantage of all the good food during Las Fallas. Thank you for watching as always! 😊
a ver cuando haces un video de casa pascuala , alucinaras con la carne de caballo,es barato pero tienes que reservar.
Thanks for sharing - though an idea about the prices would have been helpful ;-)
Thank you for watching Chris! Total price we spent in each place is shown in the video. 😊
Bonita las sardinas se comen con las manos igual que el marisco
Vicky loves fishes and shelly fish, and Josh prefers meat. But both of you eat and taste all kind of food and are great gourmets
Yes! We love it all!🐟🥩🍷😁
Hope u read this go to la girafe ! Recommend it greatly
Thanks for the tip Harry!
It would be nice if you could mention the prices individually of what you eat, if possible.
Hi, we have listed each restaurant's website visited in the description box, we would recommend you to visit each restaurant's website, there should be a price listed. Thank you for watching!
Just sub to your fun channel aka Mark Weins in Spain :) Where can you get a good burger around valencia that is similar to In n Out? Thanks in advance \m/
Hi, welcome to our channel! The only burger here that was close to In N Out was Big Johnsons' Burger, but unfortunately they don't have a restaurant, they only have a pop up event. You can find their information on their FB page. facebook.com/BigJohnsonsBurgerJoint
Thank you for watching!
@@ACoupleofNomads Muchos Gracias from SoCAL!
Hey Josh and Vicky - My wife and I were in Valencia 2 weeks ago and went to two of your suggestions:
1. Barcelo 270 - Very nice , great views
2. Anyora - we were lucky to get in because it was Oct 12 was Spain's National Holiday. My wife had to sweet talk our way in to a bar spot, and so happy we got it. Unfortunately Casa Montaña was fully booked and we couldn't get in despite my wife's efforts, lol!
Have you ever been to Fabrica de Hielo in the same neighborhood? Cool industrial place to get a drink.
PS: Love the videos! Have you done one on Javea? We stayed there a few days and loved it.
Larry & Carolina
Now we are back in the States and sad, boohoo!
Thanks Larry & Carolina! We’re glad you enjoyed those spots! Casa Montaña would have been a great addition as it is wonderful, but plan it for next time😁. We have been to Fabrica de Hielo, it’s in one of our videos…and yes, great place. Javea is on our radar!
Thanks so much for watching!
Come back sooooooon!

Yes! We love Valencia! 😊Thank you for watching!
Hi guys! Would it be possible for you to talk about health insurance? We'll be moving to Peñíscola in about 1-2 years. We are planning on getting private insurance, but a friend told us that as soon as we get our ID with the cops, I think, its OK to use the Spanish system. Could you please share your experience? Thank you.
Hi Marta, thanks for watching our videos! For us as Americans, we have private insurance. Our private plan is about 50€ a month, no copays or deductibles. We had to buy the 1st year policy paid in full for the visa to be approved.
After 1 year, from what I understand, we are able to join the public system here in Valencia… which I believe is around the same price.
We pick up our new TIE cards next week, so we have not been offered the public insurance yet.
Hope that helps😀
@@ACoupleofNomads thank you. 50€ for both or each. And we hail from sunny, smokey, California
50€ each😁 We also have a video on moving to Spain from America!

Hola, nina bonita cool, not the place the presenter. is that 'STEAK'? oh boy cow meat not steak not steak
93 degree?, ay yi yi, no bueno lol
Haha no bueno. It was too hot!
You don't show good places like Casa Montaña and restaurants so they are the good ones we have in Valencia. It is going to fill us with tourists. Show tourists the ones on the beach and that's it, hahaha. Just kidding, greetings!
Haha I know what you mean! 🤣 Thank you so much for watching our video! 😊
