Ive been watching you for over 2 years and I remember when navien was your favorite tankless heater. Here in canada they are known to have so many problems & boshe is becoming the leader of heating & AC. Although its a little pricy its top of the line equipment.
Great job team. Very professional. Don't fret over the drain Mike. Fix to your liking when you return to install the IDS.
Hello from the great state of Michigan. Love Bosch. Thanks for the great video St Mike.
I think this was the perfect scenario for a tankless heater. They're not for everyone and for all situations, but this is one. Nice clean install in a pretty tight area. Those people have been feeding you some caish lately Mikey! Teeeep Teeeep!!
Had one of these installed over the summer when I converted from electric tank to gas tankless. No complaints thus far with this unit in Connecticut. Quiet, efficient and a sleek looking unit.
@@PipeDoctor my unit doesn’t have Wi-Fi. Had to pay extra for it 😒
correction: my unit is the 9800 SE 199. Whoops!
Thanks Heriberto!
Haven’t watched in awhile
The watch shot is good , you really are quick
I love it when Mike knocks down those trolls who ask questions doubting Mike's work. He shows the liner in the chimney first, then pounds the hammer at the same time letting the trolls know they screwed up again. Keep filming for those who want to see it Mike and apply that block to the haters who wish they where you.
What you don’t understand. is that trolls like any word only have the power that you give them. So call them out - is a bullshit comment and leave it there. Calling them trolls let’s them know they got to you. Don’t acknowledge bad behavior
Semi-related, but I'll ONLY use Bosch wiper blades, and I've been thoroughly impressed with everything else Bosch I've used.
I really like this one mike. The different connection options make the install easier. Real, uncut, unedited and real world.
Everything look good i like a lot Mike good job 👍
Btw i install 200 plust navien tankless on last 10 years i never run in problem yep last one yesterday 😎
I like to see what's going on with this tankless bosch after 5 years in used bcz when something is new work great
I install rinnai I have one at my home and never ever had a problem with them for many years now but this Bosch looks interesting
LGB ❤ Great install mike!!
Great unit with awessome warranty. I had issues with my first one randomly changing temperature while showering and Bosch tossed some parts at it and it did not fix the lssue so they replaced the entire unit with a brand new one installed at no cost. Here in Canada our condensate is plumbed directly into floor drains on Hot Water and Furnaces.
Great Job Mikey
My experience has been the opposite. They have the worst support that I've encountered in a long time for any product. Hugely disappointing for what I thought would be a great unit.
@@MrGameCure Had an issue with the T9800SE 160 a few days ago, on Vancouver Island, hell of a time to figure out where to call in Canada. You end up talking to an operator (not a tech, but a "first tier phone rep") as an end customer. No service listings for VI, suggests calling a plumber a four hour trip away... with ferry charge as well. Two days trying to line someone up to help the homeowner, unit is 4 and a half years old (still under warranty for parts) and the first plumber to walk through the door convinces homeowner the unit is beyond repair, parts are hard to get, her installer didn't know what they were doing (install was passed by authority)... sells her a competing product without even addressing the warranty potential - but takes the "old" unit with them (it's coming back, I'll follow up with warranty issues). All in all though, if service assistance isn't dead simple, they'll lose more customers, especially in Canada. Unit worked perfectly for 4 and a half years.
Why would anyone question your integrity on installs??? 2yrs watching you're expertise and thats why i watch all your vidoes. You know your shit sir!!! The Trolls need to just stop assuming that you all of a sudden forgot something in a process because it wasnt shown. Like you forgot to check the liner for a brand new install--
Commooon people?? Like a big "brain fart" all of a sudden on something that you do constantly as a professional!!!!
In the process of getting a new hot water heater. Watching Mikey pipe’s videos and if tankless I’m definitely not going with a Navian. Looks like Bosch is the way to go for tankless. Really enjoy watching and learn a lot.
Great job keep it up
Killer channel. Im in ks and i installed a rheem paloma tankless about 10yrs ago and love it the stainless exhaust was little pricey nut well worth it.
I like that installation.
I'm in Syracuse NY and I have measured incoming cold water as low as 42 degrees F in February. That will be a factor in sizing a tankless heater and also the recovery rate of a tank heater.
Here in Siberacuse the wags say we have two seasons, winter and the Fourth of July. A slight exaggeration.
I watch with interest about tankless heaters but right now, I don't see one in my future.
I grew up in Syracuse. Went to Syracuse University! I don't miss the snow and cold though. Go 'Cuse!
Hi Mikey, since you were asking: Guess this is not the European/German Bosch quality one would expect. The interior has nothing to do with the neat and tidy engineering of Greenstar Pro (your sponsored install), which has the heat exchanger on the right and a proper EBM Papst blower. Best distinction is the non-coaxial exhaust-air connectors. Keep up the great work, love your steam videos!
Nice job. Very pretty.
The H was on there when you unboxed it and then you blamed it on the packaging from Bosch 🤣
Love #Bosch heating and cooling equipment
Nice job Mikey
Love those webstone valves with the drain ports
Didn't come out of the box with part of the H missing. Look back at the begin when it laying on the floor.
@@kimhouser1024 good eye! Damn that video, always tells the truth - unless it's of something a politician is recorded saying! ;-)
I Like the Bosch !
Love BOSC-l !!
Let ‘em know Mikey pipes keep doing your thing brother awesome Job
Everything Bosch makes is really high quality.
St Mike, you seeing any Daikin Fit installs in your area? Just had a 5 ton put in here in TX. Not a heat pump model, but very impressed with the variable speed compressor for cooling. Would be interested to see your opinion on these systems. Thanks for the vids.
I installed one of those last week
Thanks jack!
Looks nice..!! Have you tried the new bradford white has huge turn down ratio and piping from the top also has a self cleaning process it goes through but i still havent had the chance to install one yet unfortunately....also the H was in in the beginning and must of fell off while doing the install..
I like the Rinnai from Japan.
such a great work Mikey thumbs up too you and your crew, did you ever get CZcams Gold trophy
🙏
Always loved the Greentherm series, as far as tankless units go. Just have to many complaints with the lack of GPM in cold climates. 50 gallon 76k Btu water heaters like the Envirosense keeps maximum GPM and meet most families needs.
do they use pex up north
using pex you need to upsize by one size unless you use uponor
@@OleRazzleDazzler doesn't really matter here in Ontario. Could do 3/4" from the main and manifold to every fixture. Still gonna get half the GPM any manufacturer says
Mikey pipes, 2:50 is it a galvanized reducing elbow connected to Black iron pipe for gas? great video
Great example of something that’s NOT “WHJ” ! #lovebosch #LGB
Mikey you did a Great job on the Bosch see if you can get the Decal if you find the original Damaged you can fix it . The Sensi Pump looks good just have to get some Parts.
Congratulations Mikey on hitting 30,000 subscribers!
Looks great but I would have enjoyed seeing you go through the set up after it first being powered up.
@@PipeDoctor all good just saying I was still hungry 😋 👌
I have a Rheem..Been great so far....When I was involved with Vehicle washing...Rinnai...Paloma and Takagi were all poplar and great untis.
Tankless Bosch is sexy!..it’s nice that you can tap in at the top or bottom….condensing unit at the bottom is an eye sore and toe stunner!
Congrats on 30k. Been watching for a while and I predict you'll hit 100k before long . Long live the Great Steve Lav.
Would look even better in my house
Great work. Have a question- I'm building a house with 4 showers and I'd like to use the tankless unit to also supply the air handlers for heating the house. Can tankless handle this? Any recommendations?
Good stuff. This bad boy goes all the way up to 199 kbtu/h. Just curious if you had to upsize their gas meter?
Let's go Bosch.
could you bring in a 4 inch for fresh air and split to feed both units in the future?
You can use pvc? Here in Vancouver, Canada we have to use cpvc. Doesnt the manu require cpvc? Not sure. Just used to using it. Looks good Mikey.
Let’s go Bosch
#loveBosch how’s the unit doing so far? It’s March 2023 now. Have you had to return for any issues? I’m looking at this same model.
Did you run out of cable for the electrical box? Vertical and horizontal wire runs look better.
Can I use my old vent that goes through my attic to the roof it is APc? It's about 20' to 30 ft up in air?
Lets go bosch and brandon
Do you suggest this in electric or propane (we have underground propane tank)
Is it bad to run the condensate right into the drain without a neutralizer? My house doesnt have one lol
Interesting to see if Mike houses only uses bosh for heating and cooling. Also if he uses bosh stove dishwasher and refrigerator.
Could one have both a tankless and tank unit running side by side?
Do you need an expansion tank on a tankless unit or is that only for traditional water heaters?
How to you feel about the HTP
#Love Bosch
why not ask bosch for a decal set just incase of little mishaps mike im sure they do it they sell the badges over here in Europe maybe worth it if you now fitting alot of there products 👍but even so excellent install as usual enjoy your channel keep up the excellent work stay safe
do these a recirculation line?
Mikey what is the journeyman wage pay in your area?
I don’t know think I would just leave the hose on condensate 🤷🏻♂️ kinda like it better especially if you ever need to take off pvc would definitely look better though
*Question:* I've seen an online opinion that tankless water heaters aren't the ideal solution for all homes. In what circumstances would that be?
#LetsgoBosch #LoveBosch
Did you need permits for the work?
I on the fence with these units unless going into a fairly new house, old houses I would be very apprehensive installing one as I feel the water flow to a shower would be seriously compromised if someone washed their hands. Great install Mike, love your work ethics and any feedback you could give me would be appreciated. Does that unit go above 120 degrees? That anti scald feature does not work for me as the water never get hot enough for a shower.
The only scenario where there's an argument to install these low-quality units is when replacing an existing tank heater due to the location of the inlets. Based on my direct, personal experience - I highly recommend you look at Navien instead. My Bosch water heater has been a non-stop of barrage of non-sensical error codes and cold water.
@@MrGameCure Yours must be pumping out some other kind of noxious fumes for you to actually be here recommending a South Korean wall-mounted murder-box over a Bosch! 😂 #LoveBosch #HateBeingMurderedByMyAppliances
Hey Mike you wanna talk about the gas supply pipe sizing and how much you may need and how much gas you need for an on demand as opposed to a regular water heater
It varies heavily on gallons per minute the BTU sizing and minimum inlet pressure.
All that being said you also have to pay special attention to the pressure drop across the valve.
@@The-LongRoad-Home yes I know that , That’s why I wanted to make you to bring it up because some customers don’t realize there’s an extra cost of upsizing the meter and upsizing the gas piping,
I have never been to keen in a tankless hot water heater my dad is in the heating and air-conditioning business as well. Some of them work good for short time until after they’re out of warranty then they start requiring a lot of expensive parts and become super expensive to repair. Of course I know the option to be there to replace it but then again that all depends on how many years you get of usage out of it myself I would still 10 to enjoy having just a standard hot water heater I’ve gotten plenty of service out of mine and when I had to replace it was not a big deal. Just like with a gas furnace I would prefer to keep an 80% efficiency they work just as well and don’t require so many expensive parts when they break down. Just my observation in it keep up the good work with a Videos.
How do you flush it with no valve on the hot outlet
Installed a bunch of these and they are top notch. Great unit.
We love Bosch. Only have one question. How do you flush the water heater ?. I only see one isolation valve. But what do I know, I’m an iron worker.
Be all know Mikey that Naviens the best 😂
Can I please hire you to do that same job at my house. But I’m in Pougkeepsie :( pleaseeeee. But I’m looking to replace my boiler and tank
Hey Mikey
I was thinking of getting a hung boiler for my house, which brands of boilers that you've installed are the best to get?
Look into Lochinvar Noble. Loved that combi unit. It had a built in recirculator so my water was always hot.
May I ask a noob question Please? why dint you exhaust by the chimney with a Y pipe instead of cutting a hole to the exterior?
TLDR: I think b/c it’s “high efficiency”. I’m a homeowner, not a plumber, FYI. I’m replacing a “low efficiency” Bosch that is vented to my chimney with this model which is apparently “high efficiency”. Two different installers I talked to said I couldn’t vent a high efficiency unit to the chimney and needed to vent directly to the outside like they did here. Not sure what about being high efficiency means it needs to vent differently, though.
Nicey nice
Well I know I'm a little late on the dial but feed me Mikey feed me now I just finally walked in the door after one long Thursday
Check out video @ 2:22, the "H" is there.
Hey Mike , What’s minimum water flow for this Greentherm unit to fire?
This is directly from the Bosch Website... Activation Flow Rate (GPM) 0.45
How do these compare to rinnai as far as cost ? No one in our area offers bosch.
We’ve never installed a Reni we install Burnham, Weil McLain and Bosch
Bosch is good. I like Noritz better. A lot easier to service as well.
5 Kids, 2 Adult that's 7 shower's a day. This unit gave no problem keeping up with the house demand? I have a home I need to assume 3 showers can be on at same time and possibly washing/dishwasher. Not sure if I need two of these.
👍 you might. Depends on incoming water temperature and GPM
@@PipeDoctor is there a typical gpm on LI? 631
# lovebosch
Is this unit negative or positive pressure for gas?
@@boby115 I hear controversial topics about the negative pressure units for these tankless’s. I live in VA so our gas code regulations may be different but just as long the gas is giving right amount of WC to make these units operate normally even at high fire mode, should be fine and make sure the gas meter has enough BTU’s to add in another gas fired unit. I had a Navien one time that kept having a gas fire issue and the gas line was too small. I am curious though about these Bosch units because all other units are positive pressure and usually the one dedicated gas line has to be ran towards the unit. The price and amount of extra work always scare customer’s away. I am sad though since my company I work for (not going to disclose who I work for) live by Navien. I told my fellow plumbing friends that soon Navien won’t be out that long. Time will tell.
Nice job looks great question in Canada 🇨🇦 they do not allow galvanized fitting on gas lines due to the flakes it’s allowed there ? Not a bitch just a question
Did you see any galvi fittings in the video?
👍
Awesome 👌 50 k dogecoins to da 🌙 🌚 🌔
Is there a clean out for the hot side or am I blind?
@@PipeDoctor hey there it is 6:38. You going to send Peter or Daniel back out in a year to do a flush right.
You couldn’t find the rest of the h when fell of instead of using a marker?
@@PipeDoctor That’s a bummer
What's the price on that Bosch??thank you👍👍👍
Less than you would expect! Call a plumber today for a quote.
Who sells this bosch tankless?
does bosh have freeze protection
thank you@@PipeDoctor
German over engineered with Chinese Parts and Labor . No thanks . I'll put in Weil McLain ,burnham, or utica . Ive put in all three with zero issues . And as far as heat pump systems go you're far better off with the Mitsubishi over the Bosch all day . Ever see Ox Box by Trane ? its identical tp the bosch heat pumps . Same factory . To me its all about support and availability of parts . So I guess it comes down to where you're buying it . To me the worst is when you sell someone a system and it fails within a few years and you can't get the part to fix it . And it happened to me yesterday for the first time . It was a Bosch heat pump . Thankfully they have back up heat from the strips . So for me its #F Bosch and the Chinese Factory they came out of ! Thanks Brandon ! Just my opinion I appreciate your videos and your insight on things Mr.Pipes by the way what happened to Godzilla ?
Would you recommend gas or electric?
Thanks. I have solar and propane is killing me. Swapping out my furnace for a heat pump as well. It's been freezing cold lately so I've been debating
I hope the H breaking off isn’t a indication of future issues LOL
Pretty sure that unit has the flush valves built in bottom of unit.
Where do you buy those valves you used?
Based on my personal experience as an owner/builder, I highly recommend against buying this unit.
Cons:
I general contracted an entire house for my family and my $1800 Bosch Greentherm Water Heater has given me more trouble than every other piece of hardware combined.
The device started having miscellaneous errors after a few months and now fails multiple times per day roughly a year later. It can’t even make it through its own “auto-adjust” process - the burner goes out.
The warranty support is worthless. Just hoops to jump through with no real assistance.
Pros:
Perfect for people that prefer cold water.
It is a Sexy looking unit
