Your local vote concerns matters relative to your particular community i.e, property tax, the DA, county sheriff, city policy chief, mayor, city council, property tax and local sales tax, as well as how this money will be spent. On the national level, you are voting for how our tax money will be distributed within, via the federal agencies, as well as policy on foreign trade, military alliances, immigration, and so forth. Hello. I'm the journalist who did this story. I looked at two states: Georgia and Michigan. I ended up choosing Michigan for a couple of reasons, one of which is because it's got an active case happening right now in regards to voters and it's part of the so-called "blue wall" that crumbled and gave Trump the win in 2016. Would you want to see me do a story in Georgia?
Georgia is NOT a swing state, but it is a mecca that I hope Biden will visit. Michigan is a battleground state which could decide the election in favor of 45. The electoral college needs to be dismantled. Why should anyone bother to vote since 1) The winner is decided by only a few measly states, totally ignoring the results of the popular vote, 2) It seems the option this year is between someone who half the time doesn't even know where he is and someone without the required background to run this country FOR THE PEOPLE and 3) Since only the electoral college matters, should we vote independent or not at all? Seems to me the black votes in the south aren't even in the mix for representation, and I'm a white 71 year old female. If I can see the disparity, I can't even imagine how those closer to it must feel. How do we fix this?
Also, the Senate needs to be reformed or abolished and there needs to be reapportionment in the House of Representatives. The current system of representation is inherently racist because it heavily favors rural white conservatives. Reapportionment and reforming/abolishing the Senate would be more democratic and representative of the actual political leanings of the population. It is unjustifiable and antidemocratic that Wyoming (population 700k) has the same number of senators as California (population 40 million).
The text book way of eliminating the EC is via a constitutional convention with the majority of states voting to ratify the motion....but you and I both know that isn't going to happen given the fact that The Right has gone full Fascist and is doing everything it can to permanently instill minority rule in their favor, but there is a work around via enough states implementing rank choice voting would effectively nullify the EC without technically dismantling it. Some states are working on making this happen as I type this.
Looks like it would force black people to do for self, and UNITE like we did in the 50-60s. Our trust issues and lack of cooperation with each other would be resolved. With that being said, Project 2025 would serve as a kick in the behind that would force us all to get our minds right.

The electoral college needs to be dismantled. Why should anyone bother to vote since 1) The winner is decided by only a few measly states, totally ignoring the results of the popular vote, 2) It seems the option this year is between someone who half the time doesn't even know where he is and someone without the required background to run this country FOR THE PEOPLE and 3) Since only the electoral college matters, should we vote independent or not at all? Seems to me the black votes in the south aren't even in the mix for representation, and I'm a white 71 year old female. If I can see the disparity, I can't even imagine how those closer to it must feel. How do we fix this?
Also, the Senate needs to be reformed or abolished and there needs to be reapportionment in the House of Representatives. The current system of representation is inherently racist because it heavily favors rural white conservatives.
Reapportionment and reforming/abolishing the Senate would be more democratic and representative of the actual political leanings of the population. It is unjustifiable and antidemocratic that Wyoming (population 700k) has the same number of senators as California (population 40 million).
The text book way of eliminating the EC is via a constitutional convention with the majority of states voting to ratify the motion....but you and I both know that isn't going to happen given the fact that The Right has gone full Fascist and is doing everything it can to permanently instill minority rule in their favor, but there is a work around via enough states implementing rank choice voting would effectively nullify the EC without technically dismantling it. Some states are working on making this happen as I type this.
Then you support mob rule democracy and only New York and California voters will control the whole country. We are a constitutional republic.
I wish Biden would eliminate it since the SCOTUS upended the Constitution.
