    My dad turned a page💞dad brought cookies and water for us in his adult family home room. A very miraculous gift to me in these last years. Redeemed our relationship and blessed his soul. So sorry mom and my sister could not take that time with him.

    Thank you so much, Teepa! These videos about visiting a dementia patient are very informative, which is extremely beneficial for me!

    Thank you for the validation that the person is MORE of who they were. I needed to hear that. Now if someone would tell me how to deal with someone I had a hard time with forever, but am now responsible for...

    But I do want to tell you, Teepa, that my only problem is the more I learn from these videos, the more critical I become towards my parents and my grandmother for their way of caring for my grandfather, which involves making him aware of his reality, but doing so directly.

    That last part about telling the person, "The doctor said I had to," is one thing maybe I got right with my Grandma. I had to take over checking her blood sugar (poking her fingers) and giving her insulin shots in the tummy. It really did not bother her that much, but I would always make the excuse, "The doctor made me do it." She was not fooled (she was forgetful but not stupid) but it still made it easier for both of us.

    And sometimes they're critical about my grandfather's eating habits!!!!! They tell him in an order-like way, "Don't use your fingers!! Use your knife!!"

    What I'm saying is that I try to convey your messages to them, but boy do they have backbone, baby!! :)

    So, do I convince them of your positive techniques, or do I just let it go?

    I wish I could get all my family members to watch these videos

    Am I correct in my thinking, Teepa, or is there a way I can use your positive approach, and at the same time, avoid thinking that my parents and grandmother are dead wrong?

  • @jordanshepetofsky2677
    @jordanshepetofsky2677 Před 6 lety +1

    I can just end up fighting with them, because they think that they are correct in their thinking, when, according to your positive approach, THEY ARE DEAD WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jordanshepetofsky2677
    @jordanshepetofsky2677 Před 6 lety

    For example, they'll tell him, "You can't drive because you can't, because you're getting old and worse."

  • @jordanshepetofsky2677
    @jordanshepetofsky2677 Před 6 lety

    To make matters worse, whenever I try to explain your positive methods and positive ways to deal with him, I turn out to be WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!
