    I need your guy's help. This is going to be a 3 part series. I've replaced the IPDM thinking that is what was blowing the ECU fuse, that was a $700 mistake because that wasn't it. I checked everywhere for a short and came to the conclusion my ECU itself went bad because when it blew the ECU fuse the 2nd time, I smelled burnt electronics. After blowing the fuse the 2nd time, the red security light is solid, the fans stay on and now the car will not start.
    I figured it was my ECU that actually went bad, so I pulled it out and sent it to my tuner to bench test it. He was able to communicate with my ECU so my ECU is good, but the burnt electronic smell was in the glove box area. I'm running out of idea's on how to fix this and no shop wants to touch it, being it's an electrical issue. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

      If this happened to me. I would try to figure out which pin wire on the ecu harness is connected to that ecu fuse. I don't have sources for the wiring diagrams. Hope this helps get to the bottom of it

    • @MotordyneG35

      I looked at the FSM for EC. It's pin 121 a red wire with a white strip on it. I guess I need to get a multimeter and start testing continuity on each pin. I did talk to an electric shop last night here in Encinitas, California. He is booked till October fixing van lifers van's with electrical issues, sick 70's VW vans.
      But he told me if I smelled burned electronics, then go to where the smell is. I go but I didn't see any smoke, just smelled it. He goes you won't see smoke because it's in a sealed unit, just like my ECU. Some board the like the PCM or BCM went is my guess as he said if you smelled burned electronics stop searching wires and go to where the smell is the strongest.

    When the ecu is not seen and you everything else works it is normal to have the fans turn on high and crank no start. Nice simple fix. New to the channel. And yes pretty much ppl are not willing to help. Everyone is too busy with their own lives. As if they were actually grinding. Ive had similar situations and nobody is willing to help. The same thing happened to my 04 g35. The battery tray gets water in it like a bowl after it rains. The bottom of the ipdm isn't sealed properly and I had to change out the fuse that powered the ecu. Simple fix is, drill 2 holes on opposite ends of the batter tray corners to let the water drain out. My car was down for 2 weeks trying to figure that problem out. The fuse is at the very bottom of the ipdm right above the battery tray so it's common for water build up to splash up on to it after a heavy or prolonged rain.

    What I would do first is inspect/clean all ECU rated connections with Deoxit 5. Then if it still blows the fuses then a schematic wiring diagram is needed. Use a circuit breaker type fuse adapter in place of the fuse. Try to disconnect as much as possible with power and grounds to the ecm. If it doesn't pop the circuit breaker, then there's something shorted in one of the associated circuits. The hard part is issolating the problem. Some cables can feed several sensors. Disconnect the sensors. Does it still pop the circuit breaker? No, one of the sensors is shorted. Connect one at time until problem appears. Replace sensor. Retest.
    Yes, disconnect Battery, perform resistance measurement between the High and ground. The shorted cable/connector should show low resistance

    Hmm. I know it's pretty hot lately. Sounds like you could have a harness issue. I wouldn't be surprised if wires got chaffed.. I would pull the harness from below the cowl and inspect the ecu to the ipdm harnesses that are near the fuse box. Chances are the smell could be from inside the firewall above the ecu. Just take a look at your harness

    High thought 🙄 what if having the battery disconnected so long, reset the nat's tune/settings of some sort..then when you drove it back, some how the tune was right, but confusion of the ecu triggered that response....I mean, coil packs dont go bad in storage...imo🤷🏾‍♂️ I would think it had something to do with tuning/ nat's delete...but again I'm red eyed, lmao! Keep'em coming!!!

    • @MotordyneG35
      @MotordyneG35  Před 2 lety +1

      The tune has nothing to do with it. Letting it sit overtime has no effect, on resetting the tune. Most people say a rat nibbled on a wire for letting it sit so long, but after tracing the pin 121 the power supply to the ECU. I can not find a short in the red and white wire anywhere. Pulled out my double din LCD screen searching everywhere. Even checking the power supply to my radar detector if it came disconnected and shorted the power supply to the ECU.
      I'm going to try replacing unplugging all my coil packs and see if I can communicate with my ECU. After reviewing my older videos those import direct coils did only last 3 years and last time I had issues with the car randomly dying with no codes. Replaced the coilpacks and now 4 years later, this is where I am. Instead of randomly dying, I am hoping they are the reason for the blown ECU fuse. So eone stole other fob and ould open from 100feet so i put a screen door alarm. Well fuse from ecu boom broken after a few weeks. And i see othr fuse miss placed, trunk doesn't open up had to take all th panles off and i found a kill switch. I swear i was driving different cars. I WAS. They keep pricking away my 35. Acid on headlights, dents on hinges gaps in almost all body panels. I was about to put a sharper toyota 86 front end with splitter but who knows what happened to that. Cops not once took report other than the time shot. Y window out caught the guy and ended up paying him to harass steal slander. Oh yea, i was recorded everyday in my apartment.

      It ended up being a bad coil pack was all this headache. Yeah, Facebook marketplace that got a lot of people upset. Making a video on it actually, the point of view from the seller. Lots of time-wasting tire kickers and unreasonable offers. It's not ever worth selling because of how much I have into it.

    Ouch!!! Needy little girl not getting enough attention??? Maybe you might want to reconsider a different analogy because that is actually quite demeaning. Other than that - good vid.
