Profitable Hydroponic Fodder Farming

Ashwin Sawant began his research on hydroponics fodder at his farm in Junnar tehsil of Pune in 2011. Today, his firm, Scientific Hydroponics, is helping farmers across India grow fodder quickly and more profitably.
Hydroponics is a farming technique where crops are grown without soil in water enriched with mineral nutrients. Since roots received nutrients directly from water, they grow faster. Fodder, which takes two months to grow in soil, is ready in one week in hydroponic farming.
Ashwin says to set up a hydroponic facility with one-tonne daily output, one requires an investment of Rs12 lakh and the investment can be recovered in 1.5 years.

Ashwin has helped 70 clients set up profitable hydroponic ventures in the last four years. Now, Ashwin is trying to help small farmers by creating clusters of hydroponic fodder farms so that they can also benefit from stable incomes.
