  • Explore the NEOM Latest Construction Update 2024 and witness the astounding progress firsthand! With 20% of the ambitious project completed, NEOM is shaping up rapidly. The futuristic city, The Line, stretching 170 kilometers from Neom mountains to the Red Sea, is now a tangible reality. Watch as offices, camps, and vibrant communities emerge, complete with amenities like schools, hospitals, and entertainment centers. Excitingly, an underground rail system, "The Spine," spanning 26.5 kilometers, promises quick travel across The Line in just 20 minutes.
Concerned about water scarcity in the desert? NEOM's innovative approach includes solar domes for desalination, ensuring a daily output of 1 million cubic meters of fresh water. Yet, amidst progress, controversies loom. Critics question the environmental impact, feasibility, and human rights aspects of NEOM's projects.
Witness Trojena, home to Saudi Arabia's highest peaks, transformed for the 2029 Asian Winter Games. Despite criticism, efforts are underway to complete Trojena's ski slopes, lakes, and luxurious accommodations by 2026.
Sindalah, NEOM's futuristic megacity, is nearing completion in 2024, featuring yachting areas, luxury hotels, and upscale retail outlets. Meanwhile, Oxagon, the world's largest automated port, aims for eco-friendliness with renewable energy, integrated logistics, and a global trade hub status by 2025.
As NEOM unfolds, questions linger: Will NEOM's dream become reality, overcoming challenges and controversies? Time holds the answers, unveiling NEOM's fate - an extraordinary achievement or a complex journey reflecting the intricacies of modern development. Stay tuned for more updates on this groundbreaking venture!

Why would anyone move there? I own a nice car, can drive anywhere, I can carry things, I can pull up into my own garage, I can drive 10 miles away in 10 minutes, at a moments notice. My workplace is just 15 minutes away, I can see trees, lakes, summer, winter, parks, everything. Why would I move to the world's largest apartment building, with no roads, in the middle of the desert? Let's say I want to go to a new store that is a mile away. First I need to walk to the nearest elevator, take it to the basement, wait for a train, sit with other random people, watch for my stop, find another elevator, find the store, walk in, buy my stuff, now how to do I get it home? I want it now, not some delivery. And I live there for what, a job? What businesses are there? Why would they be there? There would be so little privacy, it would take forever to get anywhere, and would be totally inconvenient. Might be fun to visit, but it would be like living in a strip mall, with no cars. Sad that this will be a total waste.

A huge plethora of vacuous enthusiasm from the various architects, but a monumental lack of detail which will lead to a lot of sceptical criticism. The renderings need to have a much more "lived in" look as now they look empty and almost abandoned. There needs to be a lot more commerce shown, markets, events, adverts and general life to make it realistic.
Car free sounds good but how are big and heavy objects going to be delivered to the various homes and businesses? How would delivery vans get around and deliver to peoples doors?
There is a phrase that "cities are the mess left over from people making money". How are people going to get rich by living in The Line? One of the reasons people like cities is that they are cultural, with theaters, exhibitions, the Arts, conferences and a political centre. Where are the cultural hubs?
Where are the airports? If people are going to live in the city there will need to be exceptional transport links to other cities
The marina at the end shows large superyacht diesel guzzling powerboats! Ooops, if the city is to be zero carbon emissions then they all need to be carbon neutral sailboats!

What a dystopia it will turn into. Imagine when one section revolts and blocks passthrough or those on the bottom floor rise against those on the top. And I consider keeping the integrity of this 170-kilometer-long building to be impossible over time. One earthquake and the line will probably break because the ground shifts horizontally or vertically at some point(s). And a thousand other things...

A rail system that can travel from one end to the other in only 20 minutes? So, those living at each end can easily visit each other. All those in-between must still use camels in the desert? lol (Or, 170 stations, each one kilometer apart, and the entire trip now takes 14 hours.)...this entire video is misinformation. Imagine how many people want to live near the coast, rather than the center of the desert. But there isn't enough room in the "Line". Eventually, an entire city will appear around the "Line" at the coast. Probably mostly slums, but still a city, defeating the whole point of a narrow walled environment..

That high-speed rail might be able to go from end to end in 20 minutes non-stop but it's going to take much longer if passengers have to get on and off every mile or so. I'm sure there would be plenty of stations for such a long city.
What annoys me is that the Saudis can work that fast on such a huge project, yet in NYC it takes five years just to get a painted bicycle lane.
Anyway, that project seems less than 2% completed, and not 20%. There are no walls or central building structures which should take much more time to construct than clearing the land.

20% does indeed seem like a lot for this scale of a project 15% maybe. Dirt work is a huge part of any building and often takes a lot of time to get correct at a set elevation that remains consistent. Without the ground laid out correctly it makes pouring level concrete very difficult

well aren't you just a walking propaganda machine. no, it doesn't address the criticisms at all. it's not well balanced, it's just another MBS hype piece full of lies, and watching this doesn't support a thorough understanding because it doesn't address the fact that there are no blue prints, the technology to build this doesn't exist and even if it was feasible to scrape every single last bit of raw materials on the planet, there still isn't enough raw materials to make what is needed to build this. the fact that the claim is 20% complete is the same as saying that MBS is more compassionate than the bhudda. and to put a fork in this, the reality that this train will go end to end in 20 minutes means it has to run at 300mph without making a stop. that's the only feasible way to meet this 20 minute threshold, and currently, the fastest trains in china barely top 300 mph.

To grasp the complete picture, viewers should watch the entire video. Some may mistakenly think that The Line represents NEOM alone 😂, unaware that NEOM comprises four major megaprojects: The Line, Sindalah, Oxagon, and Trojena.😂😂😂

Why didn’t they build the residential communities in a line? Because a line is stupid.

I'm interested how they plan to build plumbing and sewage systems. I hope they won't transport poops Burj Khalifa-style i.e. on trains. Also Line-city is very vulnerable to disasters. If something bad happens it might disconnect city in two parts: one part with water and another part without it.

Hopefully into a facility that turns biomatter into gas, you can reuse the rest as fertilizer. That said, it is an expensive option.
